"Troistone" or "The Troistone" is a magical talisman created by Terzo Zeno for Inspector Troisseau. It is a hagstone with three holes, threaded with oak root, thrice through each hole and imbued with alchemical properties of protection. It was also charmed by Pandrosus Penelope, bestowing the owner with the ability to speak with animals. It is currently possessed by Inspector Troisseau.

From correspondence from Terzo Zeno to Jacques Troisseau:

... a black tuning fork of steel and obsidian. It is enchanted, and I have calibrated to resonate at a range of frequencies such that will nullify the full spectrum of perceivable sound for humans and the majority of known creatures. The range of effectiveness is approximately a 12 meter sphere from the artifact. It should prevent communication between the creatures that the professor mentioned in his letters. In a pinch, it may slow their progress. Be warned, however, that you yourself will not be able to communicate with anyone while the artifact is in use.

The turning fork is said to be in the possession of Professor Dover, but it may have been destroyed when the professor was swallowed by a giant worm.

Given to Terzo Zeno, the wooden turtle bead does not have any known special properties. It was a found object from Inspector Jacques Troisseau.

The compact was sent via magical means from Inspector Jacques Troisseau to Terzo Zeno. It is made of pure silver and contains only residue of magical make-up that, based on Terzo's analysis, may have rendered user more beautiful to their target. The compact also has a secret compartment that contained a stone which is believed to have tracked the owner.

The owner, prior to Troisseau, was a woman named Dixie Trumann.
