Into the Woods

A cursory glance reveals signs of pokemon; webbing from some type of bug pokemon here and there, the cries of bird pokemon in the trees... but without a closer look, it'll be difficult to pinpoint where the tiny creatures are hiding.

Maizy stomps off into the woods without much in the way of subtlety, looking around pointedly, but doesn't seem to find anything.

Into the Woods

After collecting the numbers of the remaining cabin-mates, Kalan headed off to give chase to the girls. As soon as he stepped foot out of the door Charna returned from her exploration trip to perch on his hat once again. The woods were barely a stone throw away from there, so it didn't take long for him to reach the edge of the forest and start peeking past the first line of trees.

"Well - they can't have gotten too far, can they?" Of course, the only answer he received was a chirped 'Roo'. Taking that as encouragement he stepped in, headed in the direction of the sounds of stomped branches.
The morning sunlight darting through the branches and the soft breeze made for a very enjoyable atmosphere, so he took his time with a relaxed walk, taking in the sights, sounds and scents of the forest.

Although Emmet planned on looking around the cabin, Morganna decided otherwise, following Kalan into the forest. With a shrug, Emmet just followed her. He knew better than to question his companion's judgement.

Into the Woods

The woods have a few well-trodden paths, ruts and ways created by the students since the school began. Though you can hear the cries of Pokemon nearby, they seem to be avoiding the main paths. Maizy's stomping about certainly doesn't seem to be helping the situation.

Some options here

Do a Survival Check to spend figuring out what Flora and Fauna in the area.

Do a Stealth Check to sneak into the woods and figure out why the pokemon aren't coming out.

Do a Pokemon education check to identify pokemon by the Cries."

These are a few examples. If you can think of something else to do, go for it!

Emmet also enjoyed the wood... in his own way. He took pictures, but with an eye on the tactical advantages and hindrance of the area more than it's beauty. Judging from the familiar cries, there's a good chance to encounter wild pokémons in the area.

OOC: I'll try to recognize the pokémon's calls.

13:22, Today: Emmet Hodge rolled 12 using 3d6+1.  Pokemon Edu.

Kalan advanced rather nonchalantly - if there were dangers in the woods he had no idea how to recognize them, and simply trusted that they wouldn't be allowed to put themselves in the proverbial tall grass before they were able to handle it.

Still, he kept his eyes and ears open, the first to try and spot any hiding pokémon and the second to see if he could get a better idea of what was wrong from the cries of birds.

OOC: This is the order of preference for my actions:
1) If it makes sense as an alternate to stealth, using Intuition to try and figure out why they're not coming out - at least the birds, to capitalize on Flying Connection.
02:54, Today: Kalan Dror rolled 15 using 3d6+2.  Intuition.
2) A straight-up Perception check to see if anything is amiss - or just in case you can use a Perception check, there's always a good reason to roll Perception.
02:54, Today: Kalan Dror rolled 14 using 3d6.  Perception.
3)A mostly useless poké-edu check to recognize the cries - sadly can't help Emmet until Novice, but it's the least bad of the options presented.
02:55, Today: Kalan Dror rolled 11 using 2d6.
...well, I didn't expect to roll with an average of 4-and-something

Maya and Turtwig followed several steps behind the rest of the group, giving off a sigh at Maizy's loud trampling of the bush.

The quiet girl herself decided to inspect Pokemon tracks and see if she could figure out what kind of Pokemon were in the area - and possibly where they were.

18:53, Today: Maya Caron rolled 7 using 3d6.  Survival.

I'm sure that was a successful roll!

Springtime is a season of beginnings, and it became clear to some of the group why the Pokemon were scarce. While Maya looked around futilely for signs of pokemon, evidence of pokemon's occupation began to become clear to the others.

Emmet looks up, worried. "Sounds like trouble... I don't think those birds appreciate human trespassers."

"We should be fine if we don't go around stealing eggs - or nests. It's... probably not too bad if we don't go and make too much of a mess."
What went unsaid was the mess going on in the wake of Maizy. It was hard for her to disturb anything too high in the trees with her stomping around, but anything closer to the ground was... fairer game. "Should we try and catch up to her?

"Preferably, yes." He takes a look around for signs of movement. "I doubt her plan is to scare away all the pokémons in the area, but it seems to be what she's doing."

Emmet presses his pace, heading toward Maizy's stumping.

OOC: In case it's needed, I rolled a 10 for Perception.

22:47, Today: Emmet Hodge rolled 10 using 3d6+1 ((3,5,1)).

"Yeah - let's catch up to her before she steps on the wrong Yungoos' tail" He set to follow Emmet, fine with leaving others to take point as he had already nearly gone in the wrong direction even with the obvious path of broken branches and loud sounds to follow.

"Ugh! Where are you, Pokemon? Ahah!"

As you close in on Maizy's location, you see that she's come across a lone Spearow that's gotten stuck in the middle of a dirt path.

"Alright Litten let's get ready to catch this sucker."

Litten let's out a playful growl and begins to stalk the lone sparrow in the road.

Maya followed the sound of Maizy's noise. But at the sight of Maizy going all-out on the Spearow like that, she raised an eyebrow and frowned a little, conveying a message of sympathy to the little creature.

"Oh for..." Emmet looks at the flock of Spearow above, then kneels next to Morgana. "This is gonna get bad quick, isn't it? Better get ready to give them some covering fire."

OOC: Morgana will wait until the Spearow get agressive. If they do, she'll attack with Ember.

< From "Orientation: Day One <

It was quite clear to even a passing glance that Leialoha was the sort to march to the beat of her own drum.  While she'd followed along with the others into the woods, it wasn't more than a dozen paces along before she seemed to become distracted by something and wandered off away from the others in a totally different direction.  She'd always liked taking strolls in nature - her home island was full of its own innate beauty to explore and appreciate, though the climate of the new region had its own appeal.  The trees were so different!  A content smile laid itself across her features as she strolled along amid the woods and brush with her Pichu still napping in the crook of her arm.

"Mn... it sure is quiet though.  I wonder if the Pokemon in this area are migratory?  Or maybe they just don't like the bustle of the arriving students..." she mulled to herself as she cast her gaze about.

Into the Woods

Kalan wasn't the greatest fan of capturing a pokémon just in the middle of nesting season... but then again, it was probably not something too uncommon, and not TOO much of a trauma for the creatures. Maybe. He definitely had to brush up on the topic, that was why he got at this academy, after all.

Getting between a trainer and her catch without a more than good reason, on the other hand, he was pretty sure was QUITE the faux pas. So he settled next to Emmet, following his gaze.

Thought the Perception I rolled in the previous post would remain good in case it was needed, but it looks like it might be time to roll one more, just in case.
03:48, Today: Kalan Dror rolled 7 using 3d6.  Perception.
Well, doesn't look like much of an improvement anyway xD

While Spearow was largely focused on unsticking itself from whatever had it stuck in the road, it wasn't so distracted that it did not see the Litten try and sneak up on it.  With an unnatural boost of speed, however, Spearow is able to finally break free of the goo that's holding it down and begin to fly towards the treeline.

"It's getting away! Litten, use Ember!"

With that, Litten fires a gout of flame at the escaping Spearow. The flames heavily injure the spearow, singing it's back and wings. Almost immediately after, the air is filled with the cries of Spearow as they swarm from the trees and move to attack!

OOC: Going to post a combat thread here shortly.
