Howdy folks, excited to be on board!

Bernie is an ex-Stasi operative who went off the grid after the Berlin Wall fell. Has been a sort of psuedo-PI/freelance spook, doing odd jobs. His specialties obviously would lie in black bag jobs, subversion and the like. I was thinking a likely MOS would be Surveillance, probably some B&E and an assortment of supplementary skills. Also not a very combat-oriented guy, but probably knows his way around a firearm.

I've just made character sheets user editable so feel free to start putting things together when you can. What I don't have is a good NBA character sheet template so feel free to use whatever kind of format you want.

There's no rush on character creation so feel free to bounce ideas around to determine who takes what investigative abilities. My current aim is to have a bump on the Players Wanted board when I can (Thursday night I think?) to see if that generates any more interest with a view to getting some in character posting up over the weekend as I figure it will be a while before anything which requires major character sheet usage will come up giving time for them to be finished off.

I've set up the first in-character thread with details of the first job. There's still a few character sheets to be done (and I've got one other interested player on RTJ who will hopefully be joining us) but this first post is more about planning so no harm in getting it up and running.

Feel free to discuss options such as how to get to Morocco, how to get gear when you're out there, how to try and track down the target and suchlike. You can also ask any other questions you may have of your employer and let me know of any research, investigation etc. you might want to do before you leave.

What sort of organization are we?

Felix is not hiding from anything in particular (yet), so he could provide public face for any meetings and legitimate interactions.  Like we might have a small office.  Listed as a small private security or investigation firm.  Maybe even have a staff of regular workaday investigators and office staff.

Or is this more of a fringe operation?  Hidden bases of operation. No public face.  Only contacted through a network of known contacts.

Or some mix of both?

Somewhere in between would make the most sense. A small office in a nondescript office block with a couple of members of support staff (receptionist, admin assistant etc.) but it's you guys who do the legwork. You don't advertise - your clients come to you because they know of you either personally or through reputation; you haven't yet had to sink to working for people coming in off the street. Some clients are public (big corporations wanting industrial espionage) and some are less so (security services wanting work done which they can't be attached to) but all of them value your discretion.

On the note of what we might bring...

I was thinking Felix, being the money, would be able to make sure there were some things already being shipped, purchased, bought, etc...  Waiting for us when we arrive.  Rather than trying to smuggle it ourselves.

Would that be a Network thing or a Preparedness thing or something else?  I just sort of see him having that sort of thing sorted and waiting for the team while he's setting up travel.

Also, as an addendum, I am a slow poster.  I can maybe do a post a day most of the time.  I was going to post again the other day, but noticed some of the others didn't get a chance to chime in yet.  Being a slow poster, I always worry that I am going to get left behind and I don't want others to feel that way either.

So if you're waiting on a post from me, be patient!  I'll get there.

No problem with the frequency of posting. I can rarely do more than one post of substance per day but I try to chime in with responses to queries as often as I can. When the action starts I won't update until everyone has had a chance to do a post.

In respect of him sorting out the gear in advance I think that would be a bit like a 'cache' but easier as it's more about making sure the stuff beats you in arriving there than just happening to have it ready. So I'll call that a difficulty 3 check of either Preparedness or Network, your choice. Even if you fail it's still going to turn up eventually; just not be there for Day 1.

Just so I’m straight:

We know what hotel Liu is supposed to be in right? And we’re just trying to get to her before people with nefarious plans can get to her? She hasn’t been kidnapped or ransomed?

It is my understanding that we do not know where she is and does not know we are coming to extract her.

We know she is hiding, most likely, in the Medina and is using cash to remain relatively traceless.

We have a starting point...that place Hassan hangs out? Right?

Financials traced her to Marrakesh Medina.

Sidney's electronic surveillance CCTV search identified 6 roads/hotels as likely places she might be

Hasan was an identified informant associated with Liu by Wayne.  Miles identified him further and got a mosque he is known to frequent.

Yep - you don't know exactly where Liu is but you have a rough location for her and a small number of hotels she is likely to be at. As far as you're aware Liu doesn't know you're coming for her; she does know someone is after her and has gone to ground to avoid them. You also know of one of Hasan's hangouts.

So checking out either of those leads would be fine places to start. Alternatively you could try some more information gathering now you're on the ground to see if there's any more clues to grab.

Ah. Got it. The confusing part of the spy drama begins, lol.

Do we still have our surveillance guy? That would come in handy right now.

Just wanted to confirm that I've added one more player, meet Kate Mueller! That will be it for the time being as a team of six seems large enough. I'll let you guys work out if she's any relation to the existing Mueller in the team.

For ease we'll just assume Kate has always been with you and is now with you in Marrakesh rather than try some elaborate attempt to get her joined up with the team at this early stage.
