Combat Guidelines/Expectations

1. All DM-controlled combatants (both enemies and friendly NPCs) will share a single intitative. So, suppose rolls looked like this:

Thorn (20)
Althaea (19)
NPCs (17)
Demogorgon (11)
Andraste(12)
Sand (5)

For round 1, Thorn and Althaea post their actions, in any order, and then I resolve them along with all NPC actions. Then, ALL the PCs post their next actions, including Thorn and Althaea. In my next post, I resolve them all, in this order:

NPCs/Demogorgon
Andraste
Sand
Thorn
Althea

And from then on, everyone posts their actions for each round, and I resolve them all at once, in the above order.

2. You call can post your intended actions in any order. If things change (your target is killed, for instance) before your turn in the initiative order is up, I'll give you a chance to change your action, but I'll be able to resolve rounds more quickly if I know what you intend to do. Use of conditionals (heal anyone who drops below 50% HP, else attack leader if still alive, else attack nearest enemy) is welcome as long as they are communicated clearly.

3. Your post should begin with one or more IC paragraphs describing what your character does and conclude with OOC material that describes the action in terms of game mechanics and includes your rolls where applicable.

4. Please indicate clearly what you wish to do and where you wish to stand. If you're taking multiple actions, indicate which is your Move Action, your Standard action, etc. This is especially important if you are using a feat or feature that grants you bonus actions; I don't want to have to look up rules to figure out what you're trying to do.

5. I'm bad at maps. It takes me a long time to make them, and they don't look all that good even when I put a lot of time into them. I'll use them for more complex battles, but I'm going to try to avoid them when I think I can get away with it. Feel free to ask for clarification if you need to know exact positioning for any reason.

6. If we are using a map, please describe your position and movement in terms of the coordinates. Each box on the grid is 5'. NEW: Moving diagonally across a box is 7.5', which functionally means the first diagonal movement is 5', the second is 10', the third is 5', the fourth is 10', etc.

7. You can drink a potion as a bonus action. Administering a potion to another character still requires an action.
