(IC) 2: Search for the Seals
Althaea grabbed one of the glass colored spheres at the top. It was a mesmerizing crystal blue color, perfectly round, and about the size of an apple. It was heavy, but seemed like exactly the right weight for it's size and make. There were no glyphs or runes on it and upon further examination, seemed completely flawless, with not a single scratch in it.
The glass spheres in the bowl never repeated in color, and there were 9 colors in total. The blue one Althaea held, along with orange, green, black, red, white, purple, yellow, and gray. As Althaea looked closer, trying to recall any magical lore about the spheres, she remembered reading a text in the royal library that was no longer than that of a single passage. She couldn't remember the name of the text, but could remember the diagram with an explanation that the spheres were some sort of magical combination lock used conjunctively with another object, in this case, a door. In the passage she read, the other object in question was a water fountain with mermaids holding their hands out, where the glass balls were placed like giant pearls. The fountain example only had 6 glass covered spheres and only contained the colors of the rainbow, however here, the circle crevices of the door were arranged in a circle of 8, with a single circular crevice directly in the center. The number of spheres represented the complexity of what it was trying to protect.
Since Sand's ritual takes 10 minutes to cast, I'll wait for others to respond while he completes the ritual.
