=== Field of Dreams ===

When Ozrus speaks the magic phrase, the portal magically appears in the fresco. Ozrus steps into it and begins walking. The length of the tunnel seems to be proportional to how far away the actual destination really is, though he's not really sure of the scale. 10 feet of tunnel per miles of distance seems about right, though no know where the Field of Dreams actually is doesn't help.

Upon reaching the end of the tunnel, Ozrus sees a field of red flowers. They look like poppies.

Cassandra Darkwhisper:
Once the portal opens and Ozrus steps through, Cassandra follows after him with a "Right behind you!" comment.

Even as she walks down the tunnel, she wonders what the nature of it is. It was circular in shape, probably made of force, and you couldn't see through it, probably due so some sort of compression effect since it covered a great distance that was disproportionate to the real distance that was covered. As she understood it, that's how the spell Passwall worked, though this one had the distance of a Dimension Door spell.

It was clearly designed to make it easier and quicker to retrieve the Wonders. Rather than spent hours or even days retrieving them, it could be done in mere minutes! The end of the world waits for no man or woman.

"Poppies?" Ozrus said, intrigued. It seemed fitting. The druid stepped out of the tunnel and into the field. He walked a few paces, letting his finger trail lightly atop the petals of the flowers. Curiously, Ozrus left no trail as he walked through the vegetation. He gingerly plucked a flower and smelled it before stowing it in his pouch of herbs.

Casting a bit of druidic guidance upon himself, Ozrus took a moment to consider what he knew of poppy fields in case there was anything he needed to warn Cassandra about. If there was, he shared it as he thought of it. He also scanned the area for any sign of where a wonder might be hidden, pointing out his observations to his friend.

Using Knowledge: nature and Perception. Both with Guidance.
14:21, Today: Ozrus Wither rolled 41 using 1d20+22.  Perception.
14:21, Today: Ozrus Wither rolled 22 using 1d20+21.  Knowledge: Nature - poppy field.

Note: Ozrus should still have Ant Haul and Life Bubble active from his previous excursion. He is also immune to sleep magic and all poisons.

Edit: spelling

Particularly as a Druid, Ozrus knows that poppies are a tricky plant to classify. Some species of poppies give off a fragrance that causes anyone inhaling it to go to sleep. Technically, it's not really a poison because it doesn't do any damage or injury, but if it was gathered and concentrated, it could very well become a poison.

While the field seems to be a shallow rolling plain, it stretches for at least a mile in all directions. The poppies seem to cover everything, so he doesn't see anything or any place where a Wonder could be concealed, hidden or buried.

However, he does spot what he thinks is something moving through the poppies. At first, he thought it was just the wind causing the poppies to sway and dance in the afternoon sun... until he realized that there is a sort of pattern to it, indicating that something was coming their way.

"Try and avoid inhaling the poppy fragrance if you can. It has been known to lull people to sleep by non-magical means. Also, it looks like we may have company..." Ozrus pointed out the movement in the flowers to Cassandra and prepared himself for potential conflict, casting Guidance upon himself once again.

To the approaching entity, he called out, "We bear the mark of the green star and have come to claim the wand that Esmeralda left for us here! We do not seek violence." Of course he had no reason of knowing if the thing-in-the-flowers was a wonder-guardian or an unaffiliated critter native to the area, but it was still worth a shot.

"I sure hope it's not natural, because I think it's a giant snake!" she comments as she notices that it's not a single spot that's moving but a long serpent-like line!

She moves off to the side a few feet away from Ozrus to not only divide the creature's attention but to make sure both of them aren't caught in the same area of effect... such as a breath weapon!

"If it is a normal animal, or even a magical one, I will try and convince it that were are not its foes," Ozrus said, doing his best to reassure Cassandra.

If the critter is an animal or magical beast and it seems like it is not a wonder guardian, I will try to use Wild Empathy on it. +13 for an animal, +9 for a magical beast with intelligence of 1 or 2.

The creature slows as it approaches, then stops and its head rises above the level of the flowers. It appears to be a snake's head with a human face!

It seems to be eyeing the two of you with a mix of curiosity and speculation.

"What businessss have you in my lovely Field of Dreamsss?" it hisses at you.
