Oddly, the next stop was... a pharmacy.  Why?  What was going on here?

Zoey went around the building to see if anything was obvious.

From the outside, nothing appeared to be off...

...although she wasn't sure what some of those delivery vans in back were for.

Zoey climbed himself up on the roof to get a better look at the vans without being spotted.

They looked fairly ordinary... but what were they doing there?  A pharmacy didn't need a fleet!

What were they carrying?

She couldn't see from here.  They weren't moving, just... waiting.

That was weird. Very weird. Zoey decided to wait as well.

After a time, several people emerged carrying large packages, and began to load up one of the vans.

Zoey went down to sneak under one of the vans the packages were being loaded on.

Zoey easily snuck down into a van... it was full of packages, wrapped up tightly in brown paper, each one about the size of a banker's box.

Zoey carefully cut one open with her claws and took a peak inside.

...Smaller boxes, but they appeared to have some kind of pills inside them.

Zoey put it back an decided just to hide for now.

After a while, the van started to move....

Zoey waited to see where it would go.

The van eventually came to a stop; Zoey had no idea where they were.

Zoey waited until she heard the van doors shut to take a peak out and figure out where she was.

It looked very much like an old tenement building-- cheap housing in terrible conditions for the poor.

Was there any sign of the people from the drug store?

Not yet, but there were noises of people moving around.

Zoey headed towards where the noise was coming from.

They were handing out packages to the residents of the building.  Very odd, really-- it was a large giveaway of packages to just random people?  Or what?

That was certainly odd. Zoey waited to see if one of the people handing out the pills was alone.

They mostly clustered together to make handing out the packages easier.  She might be able to grab one around the edge, but it would be risky.

Zoey snuck closer, ready to go for one of the package  carriers.

Zoey went to grab them for questioning.

"Now just what are you up to?"

"H-hey, it's no big deal," he said.  "We're just, you know.  Uh.  Giving out supplements to our guys.  It's not, like, meth or anything."

"What is it?" Zoey demanded.

"Uh, I don't know," said the thug.  "Some kind of supplements or steroids or something?"

Zoey could tell he was holding something back-- not lying, exactly, but keeping something back.

"Try agin," Zoey said, pushing her blade closer to the man's throat.

"...Like steroids..." gasped the thug.  "...kinda on steroids?"

"Why?" Zoey asked.

"To get, like, super-strong and stuff?" he said. "Takes a little while for them to kick in, though."

Was the man carrying any on him still?

...No.  But suddenly he was writhing, spasming...

"....Just a little longer," he panted.

"What the hell is happening?" Zoey asked.

He roared, twisting out of her grasp as he shuddered and convulsed... and grew somewhat larger.

"Of course," Zoey said with a sigh and drew her sword.

Zoey attacked the muscle-bound man-thing with her sword.

The thug staggered back, but rather than attacking, let out a roar-- and footsteps said others were coming, and fast!

Zoey attacked the thug again, she wasn't about to retreat yet.

He went down, but more would be here soon.  She had only seconds to act.

Time to go now. Zoey took off running.

However strong they were, they were no match for her speed.  But now what?

Zoey looked for a place to hide.

Perception and Stealth

There wasn't a good hiding place that she could get to quickly!

Zoey decided to climb a wall instead.

Zoey took a peak down to see what was happening.

A bunch of people, most of whom hadn't mutated in any way, milling around looking for her...

One collapsed, spasming.

Zoey cursed. The hell was all this crap? So much insanity in the last few days.

After several minutes, others had collapsed; the fallen ones got up after a while, looking normal again, but clearly weary.  It looked very much like they were giving up on looking for her.

Zoey waited for the last one to get up. She could probably interrogate that one.

They hadn't all fallen over-- she'd have to figure out how to cut one out of the pack, and they were being much more cautious now.

Zoey decided just to follow them stealthily for now.

She wasn't noticed; the thugs were getting back in the vehicle, and getting ready to depart.

Zoey climbed under the vehicle.

Her well-developed mastery of riding vehicles in this way made this a trivial task for her, and soon they were on their way.

Is it weird I'm getting used to this? It probably is, Zoey thought as she clung to the underside.

After a while, the vehicle stopped.

Zoey waited for the men to exit the vehicle before coming out.

She appeared to be back where she'd started.

That was odd. Could she see the men still?

They appeared to be dispersing, most sending texts on their phones.

Time to find a way into the building.

There were options-- windows, or perhaps forcing her way into a doorway.

Windows it was, Zoey snuck up to a window and peaked inside.

People inside milled about, putting pills into bottles.  They appeared to be manufacturing them on-site, which was quite odd.

Zoey took out her camera to take a couple of pictures before trying to open one of the windows.

They weren't designed to be opened, but she could probably find a way...

Zoey went to see if there was another way inside.

The doors... or the roof, perhaps.

Zoey climbed up to the roof.

Yep, there was roof access-- a doorway, and also ventilation shafts if she didn't want to take the stairs.
