Zoey relaxed and finished getting dressed, before heading out and seeing what was in the fridge to drink.

Luckily, there was beer.  Also Faygo, for some weird reason or another.

Zoey took a couple of beers.

"When'd you get the Fanta, Dave?" she asked chuckling. "Were you shopping blazed again?"

"Maybe," he said.  "I think I might have traded some stuff with some guys with clown makeup on, though."

Zoey went back to the fridge and investigated the cans.  One never knows what super-villains and nut-cases get up to.

...traces of greasepaint, blood, alcohol, tobacco, pot, a smattering of other drugs, but just traces.  Whoever had handled these clearly partied a lot, in unsafe ways, but it was hard to be sure of more than that.

"Ugh. Make sure you wipe the can down before you drink it," Zoey said before heading for her meaty pizza. She was eating more meat lately, probably because of the mutation.

He laughed.

"It's just Faygo, sis.  What could go wrong?" he said, going to open a bottle.

"One hell of a dirty can. I can smell it," Zoey said.

"Fine, fine..." he said, washing the can off and drinking.

Nothing untoward happened.

Zoey put the remaining pizza in the fridge and headed to a closet and dug out the rain gear.

"I'm gonna head out to stretch my legs a bit. I got some more money, but don't mess with it until you're sober."

"Right, right," her brother said.  He would, though-- he had everything he needed now; why would he bother taking it?

Outside, it was raining, but not too heavily.  Thunder rattled the sky now and then...

Zoey went out the window, climbing down the wall until she was close enough to leap to another roof and head out into the city, before pausing for a moment when she realized she just went through all that and still didn't have the organization's name!

Over that way, by that building, a number of vans were hastily loading up a lot of large equipment from the building.  An odd thing to do, in the rain...

Zoey went closer to investigate.

Well, now.  They weren't masked, but they had hats down over their faces... and why were all these large boxes coming out of a bookstore?  What was going on here?

Zoey made her way down and stealthy made her way to the truck to climb up to the top. One up there and laying flat she listened to the people's conversation (if any) and tried to see if their scents were familiar.

Soon Zoey was back at home, recovering.

"Damn, that was a bad night," Zoey said. "I don't know if they were trying to stop me or it was some other group taking revenge for stealing equipment and stuff from them."

"They must have already been set up to do that, though, right?" said her brother.  "Maybe it wasn't about you at all.  Maybe it was about them."

"Yeah, but I'm desperate to find out who did this to me and why," Zoey said.

"Yeah, it looks like some people are set on keeping secrets," said her brother.  "Which sucks, I know."

"Yeah, I think I'm gonna go to bed," Zpey said. "Thanks again."

Zoey's sleep was sound as her body conserved resources to heal.

Zoey slowly got out of bed and headed to the kitchen to get some water.
