The Sylvayn House

* Defense 48 +3 (Purple) = 51 - Extraordinary defenses with structures, walls, and terrain features that, when combined, make attacking this land very costly.
* Influence 49 +2 (Gray) = 51 - Maximum Lord's Status 6. A major house. Examples include House Tully and House Martell.
* Lands 13 +6 (Red) +4 (Green) = 23 - A modest stretch of land or medium-sized island, such as House Frey.
* Law 17 +4 (Gold) = 21 - The typical level of Law throughout much of Westeros. Crime is common but not out of control.
* Population 13 + 4 (Blue) + 4 (Silver) = 21 - Typical population. Most smallfolk live on farmsteads or in hamlets, but you might have a couple of small towns and a community around your primary fortification.
* Power 36 +5 (Black) +1 (Brown) = 42 - A large force of diverse, trained, and competent soldiers. You probably also have the services of a small navy as well. Several banner houses are sworn to you.
* Wealth 23 +6 (Orange) +3 (White) = 32 - Prosperous. Your family has the funds to live in accordance with their station.

The Sylvayn House

White has made the following suggestions in regards to what holdings we should get.

Defense:
Castle 40
Tower 10

Influence:
First-Born Son 20
First-Born Daughter 10

Land:
Hills 7
Coast 3
Hamlet 10
Light Woods/Ruins/River all 3
--The land is a small, hilly, coastal valley between the arms of the mountains.  The only easily accessible routes of entry are a path through the mountains guarded by a tower, and the coast.  The banner house would also be a guard on the mountain pass.

Power:
Banner House 20
leaves 21 for units for an example of costs, an Elite Garrison is only 9 power, a Trained is 5.  Trained Archers is 6

Wealth:
This gets tricky.  You can start with a Port, but a market needs a small town.

The Sylvayn House

History

* Glory: The Founder performed acts of heroism during the Andal Invasion, but everyone tells a different story. Everyone seems to know what he did, but the only thing everyone agrees on is that it was glorious.

* Madness: One Head of House married a Targaryen daughter about a generation before Aegon's Conquest. And the oldest son, and new Head of House, was hit by the family madness. And if Aegon could have two wives, so could he. So he stole a woman of the Hill Tribes, the daughter of a Clan Chief, and made her his second wife. And suddenly everyone hated him. The Church, his first wife's House, his second wife's clan. Everybody. And though some didn't say it, they all wanted his head on a spike. Unfortunately for them, he was a brilliant strategist and despite heavy losses of troops and his lands descending into lawlessness, he still retained control of all of his lands. Until his younger brother sued for peace behind his back and turned his Lord over to the enemy. And they got the head on the spike they desired. And as history is written by the winners, no blemish has ever been placed on the younger brother.

* Glory: A brother of a Head of House saved the life of Jon Arryn showing conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity

The Sylvayn House

In the Game Info, I posted the following:

"This game is set in Westeros. The world made famous by the Song of Ice and Fire novels and the Game of Thrones TV show. The focus will be on ruling a minor house trying to rise in power.

There will be some overlap with the timeline of the above story and those events are not fixed. The outcome can be changed by the PCs. But trying to change some events may also lead to the death of your character(s) (depending on how you go about things), as many other choices could too."

And as you asked to join this game, I mentioned to most, if not all, that I haven't read the novels.

And just to make this explicit, the core timeline that will be our canvas for this story, will be the timeline from the TV show, as I am not familiar with the novels. This core will be augmented and twisted by the story that we tell and what we add to it.

By this, I want to say that, everything else being equal, the story portrayed by the TV show overrules the story told by the novels.

We have already added to that core, by mentioning houses and individuals not mentioned in the show. Some have been mentioned in the novels and some have been created by us.

I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of the show, but I look at the sources I have available to help me know what is what. If you have a different view of the lore, feel free to bring that up somewhere other than the IC threads and we can look into that.
