Moving between buildings like the falcons they use to control the pigeons, he sees it all.  The pretty lights...the people leaving the shows...the people eating at cafes...it can be a beautiful city.  He is even able to wave at a kid standing on a platform for the Purple Line.

He also still hears the sirens to the east, but now in the air and way from CBT, to the south and south west as well.  That can be the city's ugly side.

Getting to the tower, he sees the lights blinking up and down the building.  Some in the offices and some outside the building.  Although the offices should be mostly off by this time, the outside lights should be in full force.  Looking down toward the street, there are a few police cars and a large truck with ladders on the roof.  You hear sirens and see lights getting closer.  Looking up, there are lights on the towers (which are affected as well) and hear electrical buzzing.

[OOC] I try not to assume what people do or don't know and maybe others playing need the information.  If it is ever too much, just say shut-up.  I'll understand.

Paragon does a slow circle of the building - partly to check it out and see what he can see and partly (mostly) to make himself seen. He to make a grand entrance!

Once he was sure the authorities had noticed him, he flew down for a soft landing right in front of the person who seemed to be in charge.

”I’m Paragon!” he announced in his booming voice. ”I am here to help. What seems to be the trouble, officers?”

When Paragon lands, there are few shocked looks.  The assembled police and  utility team seem to have been looking at a diagram and around the building.  Building security is standing by the front door as people trickle out.  They are not allowing office people back in.  The group outside is being joined by some electrical contractors (a small red truck with 'Johnson Electric' on the side).

With a little confusion on his face, an office walks up to you, "Ah...yeah.  We seem to have a power issue in the building and we were just starting to get everybody we needed.  It certainly isn't normal and a few lights internal and external have blown...some glass on the sidewalks.  Ahhh...did somebody call you?  Who are you again?"  He is calm, but seems confused.  The various other police, security, contractors, utility workers and a few suits, just stay reviewing papers on a hood of the truck.

“Paragon. Defender of truth, justice, and freedom!” The superhero strikes a pose, fists on hips, looking off into the middle distance. “How can I help? Something abnormal could mean dastardly dealings.”

The cop looks dubious, but shakes his head, "Yeah, yeah...I think you can.  If you could round the building at street level and watch our guys, that would be a start.  We're worried about an accident or maybe a backhoe cut into a wire or some type of short somewhere here.  If you can take electricity...I know I don't want to grab a live wire.  But if you can cover the area quickly, it would help our search.  We have the building union guys going in now."  He just keeps shaking his head.

[OOC] I'll need details on where you look/search.  I'll need what your sense are too.

”I’m on it!” Paragon said. He zipped around at super speed at ground level, checking inside and out on the building, specifically looking for electrical issues but alert for anything.

The search takes some time (well...for you); the ground search for a block around all sides, and then the slow (well...slow for you) flight up the sides, but after noticing a continuous 'buzzzz-ZAP' as you go higher, you find something odd.  Atop the building, with various cables connecting it to the building's antenna and electrical, a box which does not have a match anywhere else on the roof.  It is 4'x4' and has various electric green accents with a slight pulsing to in time to the buzzing.  The buzzing is coming directly from this box.

Elsewhere, in a dimly lite room with the light coming from a wall of monitors.

"All of the responses seem to have followed your plan, miss.  But...him."  A thin man points at a screen, which shows a man in blue and gold flying a few yards away.

A larger woman walks over to look at the monitor.  "That is why we do testing Mercy, to make sure our estimates on the responses times were correct and to see if anything unexpected happens.  And he is definitely unexpected.  Get what information you can on him and maybe we need to run this test again, but make sure we can gather more data on our anomaly here."

"I agree miss.  I'll work on the next unit immediately."

"And initiate a full code and data purge and kill the connection now.  We don't need that box back; let them play with it.
 But I don't want anybody following that back to us."

"Yes miss."

buzz-ZAP!

"Hmm. That shouldn't be there," Paragon says to no one in particular as he floats 100 stories in the air.

Unsure what it would do to disconnect the box, Paragon flies down to inspect it more closely. He peers at the box (which takes little time given his super speed) and considers his next move.

OOC: Not sure if ultra vision would give me anything. Basically looking to see what would happen if I just rip the thing off the roof.

[OOC] You see the flow of the electrical current through the box; coming in one set of wires and out another.  This box is in the circuit (in-line).  The splices were done with 'vampire taps', so they connected and severed at the same time (very tricky and time sensitive).  Since the wires run up the towers and hit lights and dishes (with the intensity of the current), you can assume it is a fair amount of current.

Your ultra vision is picking up the leakage from the wiring and is stronger outside the box than the 'green light circuits?' that are inside the box.  If not for the green lights, you would have no idea where the power is inside the box.

You can see a pop (current sudden increase) that is in time with the 'buzz-zap'.

Any intelligent disconnection attempt or guess at how, will require a roll.  Tell me what you are using and I'll tell you the opposing value.

Deciding his first outing should go as best as possible, Paragon flew down to the ground.

"Captain, I found some kind of device on the roof. It definitely should not be there. I should fly a team up to check it out."

Gathered around the hood of a car; the police, a fire inspector, various electricians and some building personnel (people in suite jackets with patches) all stop.  The officer you spoke to before looks a little surprised.  "Emm...a device.  Where?  Can you describe it?"  He looks to his left and and whistles, which catches the attention of another officer about 20 yards away.

"On the roof," Paragon says. He points to the top of the building. "It is a box. About 4'x4'. Definitely attached to the building's electrical. And it is pulsing with the same surges affecting the building. I can fly a group to the roof to check it out."

The Office looks to the group and there is no sign of recognition of the box.  One person starts to flip through the diagrams on the truck hood.  A different office puts a call out to the bomb squad.  You hear talk of how people get on the roof and if the whole building is cleared.

"Is there room to get around the box if we send a team up to look at it...with tools?  How many people approximately?  Was the buzzing steady?  No clocks or timers?"

”There is room for four people,” Paragon says. ”The buzzing was pulsing, but regular. And I did not see timers or clocks. I believe time is of the essence.”

Immediately things de-solve into a controlled chaos.  There is more shouting, more running, and more people on the way.  "Don't go anywhere....", the office seems very scared suddenly.

After 15 minutes, the sirens start to decrease after their initial increase and people are being escorted from the surrounding area.  The number of people has increase exponentially.  There are even three helicopters in the area.

The office come back over to you and seems much calmer, "We really don't know you, but we're asking you if you can be a safety net for the people going up.  They are going to review the box to figure out the next step.  Are you willing to do that?"

"Of course!" Paragon nods. He lifts off, floating a few inches above the ground. "Just ell me where you need me."

"The bomb squad is going up first.  The enter the building in 5 minutes.  It will take them time to get to the top and then assess.  The worry is that somebody could get blown off the side of the building or that, god forbid anybody gets hurt, they will need to get down fast.  You able to handle that?"

I think we can just narrate it out.

The emergency services went into action, firefighters and bomb squad going up to the roof, decked out in full gear. Paragon flies around the building, alert for any brewing situations as he surveys the no mans land around the building. Despite him telling the officer that the box bore no threat of explosion, they exercised maximum caution.

Of particular interest to Paragon were the news crews and helicopters. While he wanted to go give an interview, he did not want to shirk his duty with the police, so he just made sure he maintained maximum visibility to the cameras, flashing confident waves and his winning smile to the media and crowds alike.

He did chance pausing near a crowd of onlookers who were led by several cameras for a photo op. He floated, fifteen feet in the air, and waved.

"Never fear! Paragon is here!"

A few of the camera crews in the helicopters do start to follow Paragon as he circles the building.  Under his watchful eye, the firefighters and bomb squad work like a well oiled machine.  The investigation includes video of everything that is happening.  After a few minutes and a short discussion, a bomb squad member is the left to take the side of the box.  He flashes you a 'OK' sign and starts to unscrew the side of the box.  Slowly, ever so slowly, he pulls the side back and allows it to rest against his knees.  After looking round inside, he gives you a thumbs-up and waves to the others that had retreated.  Now, with more people around the box, they begin to take it apart more.  Some of the green lights go out as they are disassembling the box, which cause them to pause, but they begin again.  You are waved over.

"Thanks, but it appears to be mini-computer with green accent lights and large capacitors and resisters to handle the power that it was tapped into.  We're going to remove the power, as soon as we get the go ahead from the building power team.  It should only be a few more minutes.  Thanks.  Really."

You see his face in covered in sweat, whether from nerves or wearing the gear, it is your guess.

”My pleasure. I live to serve.”

You are bored as you wait, but in five minutes, they have everything disassembled.  They have to repair the high power lines that the device was connected to, but they are giving you the thumbs up.

"The news is showing that he stayed with the team on the roof the whole time, but did not attempt to disable the device himself.  What is our next move?"

"We stick with the second test.  And record everything you can on our hero here.  I want to know if he is a threat."

"Yes, miss."

You hear a banging noise coming from a news helicopter, that is approximately 200 feet way.  The camera crew on the side is waving...at you.

[OOC]  The whole case is apart and they have moved it toward the door, but have not started down with it yet.  You see that they are putting some items into a metal/padded drum that is on a dolly.

Paragon turns to the helicopter and waves back. He’s bored for sure, just trying to bide his time so he can properly introduce himself to the media.

As the box deconstruction is well in hand, Paragon takes the chance to do some posing for the cameras while keeping on eye on the roof situation. He figured he could move fast enough if something did happen.

[OOC] To clarify, the banging was them trying to get your attention.  Your heightened senses just picked it up.

[IC] The camera crew seems to focus on you.  One of the windows goes white and the camera person points to it.

The disassembly continues without an issue.  They are done and starting to move the box in another 5 minutes.  As soon as they clear the door with the cart, another set of people come out with various tools and cable.

As the teams on the roof cycle through, Paragon goes down to street level to see the device come out of the building.  The street is still corded off and people are being kept away by a block.  Not long after landing in front of the door, the yelling by reporters begins.

"Who are you?  You're working with the police on this?  What was that?  Tell us what was going on here.  Where did you come from?  What is your name?"

Glancing over his should, Paragon sees the drum come out the front door and head over to a waiting bomb truck.  He nods and walks the block down to the news crews and few people that had gathered here to watch.

As he gets closer, the questions start up with more fervor, but he ignores them.  "I'm Paragon.  I'm here to help the police and the good citizens of Chicago.  Tonight, it was my honor to backup the police and fire crews that were here to work on this issue.  I can't say what this was; that will take time to discern and will be released in good time.  But, all things seem to be in good hands and people are safe.  Goodnight.  I'll see you soon."

As he flies up and away, to himself, Nailed it!
