Dr. Chimera - A Long Ride

The trucks slowdown and start to take many more turns than they had for the last many hours.  In about 45 minutes, they slow down and stop.  You can see the by the light coming in through the door that you in a very well lit area.  The noise of people starts again right after stopping.  Small engine noises are noticeable along with the sounds to steam (it is a low level hisssssss that is continuous).

The bug waits for his opportunity to slip out amongst the cargo. He needed to do a full accounting of this warehouse, its workers and inhabitants, and its security systems. Once he managed to find out the weaknesses, he could destroy this place without innocent lives being harmed.

You have no problems getting out of the truck unobserved.  When you get outside, you see a facility that is half-refinery and mostly quonset huts.  There is security personnel all over the faculty.  All the buildings and pipes are set back from the fence by about 30 feet.  There is a four story square building on the far side of the grounds from you.  The size of this installation is surprising, being a good 3/4 of a mile in each direction from the gate.  Outside one of the close quonset huts, you see a man with dark messy hair and wearing a white lab coat watching everything that is happening.  He is not smiling.

The bug does a fly by on the man, but not too close. He really wanted to see the clipboard. He planned to find a plant map for the average worker which was fairly regular. From there he can find the security station and proceed to get access to all the internal plant protections, including guards and devices. From there he could find a camera free area to resume his humanoid from and take some videos.

The man is barking orders and watching everything like a hawk.  He has an Russian accent.  An assistant seems to come out of nowhere, only to be sent on an errand within the trucks.  The guards and crew working on the trucks continue to work and do not halt or slow.  Unless 'he' stops them with a question or terse word.

"You will get both tankers emptied to night, yes."  It was definitely not a question.

The top page of his clipboard is paperwork for the trucks.

As you investigate the facility, you find a few 'You are here' maps on the main entry drive.  As move away from the main drive, they change to fire exit maps.  From this, you are able to find the various exits from the facility, but not the 'security office'.

The Doctor takes some photos of the maps, so he can check them later. If he can, he will take some photos of the Russian, assuming he can do so without detection. He will also see if he can find a place such as 'staff lounge' or such. No doubt the security office would want to be close to where the vending machines would be.

[OOC]The photos are not an issue, as long as I have stats on the device, Mr. Fly.  :^)

Based on your facility knowledge and the size, it will take some time at the size you are to cover the whole please to look for a lounge.  Give me a roll on a d10 to determine how 'lucky' you are in finding the lounge.  Low better....

[OOC] You are the size of a fly (11).  Your 'shrinking' is from your shape shifting.  It does not shrink your cell phone, so I had assume that you were using your Omni-Gadget for these things.  If I misunderstand anything, let me know.

[IC] You realize with a huge guess and a stroke of luck, you find a ground floor "office", which seems to be a few rooms with monitors and desks, and full set of windows.  You see one person in the office watching what is happing currently in the area.  He cannot see the front gate, but is watching the people scurrying about.

A-Correct, I cannot use my gadgets in animal form, only in human form. I was gonna find a place to change back to human form to use the camera.

B-Can I find a place to hack into one of the computers from another desk? I.E: I fly over to desk, shape change back to human, hack into the network via my gadgets, change back to fly and find a place to resume human form again and try to check security network.

[OOC]
I need to know who/type of human you are changing into to continue; security, chemical handler (they are in protective suites), or general maintenance.  There is only 'The Doctor' that looks like a doctor.

If you fly around, you do find a few different unoccupied computers in a few general office locations.  The security office does have people in it.  You can also access a few different process controllers.

Ooc: I only have one human form. I try to stay small and find all the cameras and such, and the resume humaniod form in a private area. Granted I could use my omni gadget for the chameleon power to use a hologram disguise. Not sure I need to, given my other abilities, and wanted to hack into the computers around here to figure out the layout.

[OOC]You find a few areas that can work; limited to no camera coverage, empty office area, lights off, etc.  Any attempt to hack into the system is a 7 RV/OV.

Layout?  Building schematics or network?

[OOC] Yep...doubles...20 total.  This takes you about one minute to get in and 15 minutes or so of investigation.

[IC]You find floor plans the office buildings in a folder marked "office move project".  You find a whole set of move instructions for 'The Doctor's Lab'; equipment inventory, chemical inventory, general office items.  You do not find anything on what the doctor is doing with this equipment.  Some of it is labeled 'tanks' and 'vats'.  You see that this is going to takes weeks of time and everything is going from a small space (you have the building location) to a much larger space.  Phase II of this project is described, but not in detail (phase II is planned for 13 months out).  Phase II covers addition of new equipment.

You find better maps of the whole facility; truck route maps, steam and chemical lines, and a electrical map.

As you are looking around, you do find areas that are protected more than the area you have access to currently.  Both the security offices and what (based on you summation from names of folders, computers and files) would be the doctor's area are not accessible without more work.

Once in private and in humanoid form, he records all the data onto his phone for later study. Then he will resume his flying insect state and head for the areas of the security office, now that he knows where it is. He may have to leave a device to gather data.

(OOC-I know last time my ability to set up a virus to get computer data did not go well. Would some power under the omni gadget work better at this? )

[OOC]You can use the omni-gadget to do about anything...but I have to let you specify.  I would say you could, give me a device and a little justification and I'll be in.  Maybe ask some follow-ups, but as long as we aren't crazy or breaking character, I think you could.

What are you doing with the phone while in fly form?  Maybe should have thought of that before....

OOC: When I change into animal form, all my gear changes with me. Which means that I can't use Omni-gadgets/regular gear when in animal state, but I gain it back once I resume my humanoid form.

As for a gadget to hack into the network, could I use the electrical control power to bypass the normal computer protections and allow me to access things I normally could not?

[OOC] I'm OK with the equipment.

Are you asking if you could add a computer to the network to see if you could get it?  If so, yes.  This is a valid way to circumvent local security measures.  It still requires roles as there are network level controls.  But, you would have the advantage of moving the information for x-fil to the device you added to the network.

OOC-What do you mean? Batman has permanent gadgets, and then omni-gadgets as a separate ability he calls on. Dr C relies mostly on his powers, but uses his omni-gadgets to be more subtle.

What power would I be simulating to act as a extra computer on their network?

[OOC]I just need the gadget created so I know what it can do.  It won't disappear until you want it to, but it will utilize that power as long as 'real'.  Does that make sense?

Just a computer out of the book, but small is what I thought.  So page 180.
