Knight Wolf - To New Beginnings

[OOC]You get to the area, but you find that you have been held at bay by the camera system.  You do NOT think that you tripped any alarms.

[IC]This area of Chicago is a lot of small buildings with homes, yards and alleys all laid out in a grid.  The houses are the typical Chicago bungalow and there seems to be a convenience store, church or bar every few corners.

Knight will start jumping from rooftop to rooftop, seeing what he can ascertain while he taps into the radio feed from the police.  It might give him a more specific trail to start from.

You see several police cars surrounding a few block area (maybe 4 x 4 area) and officers on foot moving around.  This specific area is 2 or 3 story houses (depending if you count basement) and small narrow yards that don't butt up against the yards in back.  There are rear facing garages that face the alley between the yards.  The 'end cap' houses have a garage with small side drive.

Listening to the radio, you know they are looking for one (maybe two as their was a reported second man but no confirmation by police) man on foot.  He is African-American, approximately 6' and in jeans and tee shirt.  It was reported that a gun was involved, but again there is not confirmation by police.

Frowning slightly, Knight reassessed his options.  Landing lightly on a roof, roughly in the center of the cordoned off block, he stood and came up with a new plan instead of jumping about.  It was a limited area after all; he figured his auditory sensors were most useful, combined with a couple visual options, would turn up the best possible results.

OOC:
let the sensors do their thing, seeing what I can spot.

[IC] You try to pickup something and hear a lot of footsteps and shouts.  You can't tell officer from public from suspect.

[OOC] Your roll was low.  But, there is a difficultly to picking up one person, that does not seem to be talking, out of a bunch of people that are searching and talking over radios.

As you sit watching, you see the pattern that the police are using.  House to house...yard to yard...flushers always move and watching...with the wall of offices with cars ready and lights out, on the west end of the cordoned area.  A few extra police have been added to the area, but it remains stead in this process for a few minutes.

Being high, you are able to see much of this and for those areas you cannot see directly into, you can see the flashlights panning.  A dog starts to bark to the north side of the cordon and you see the police start to head to it.  "North west.  North west.  We may have a sighting."  It is maybe an area of 6 yards and long low houses.

[OOC] Long, narrow, and low...brick...main floor and basement...narrow yards...power and phone on poles that run down the alley.  Garages face the alley.  The area has seen better days, but the house are not abandoned, but no longer their stable middle class roots.  Most yards have cyclone fencing (good fences make good neighbors).

Getting the update, Knight activated the anti-grav system and made a couple quick hops to the target area.  Crouching on the edge of a rooftop, he surveyed the area while his scanning system assisted the process.

OOC:
Sorry for the delay.  RL is a mess and just swamped lately.

Notice...
19:54, Today: Knight Wolf rolled 5 using 2d10 ((4,1)).

Good grief.  The dice really hate me.  Knight's about to call this a waste of his time since nothing seems to be working! ;)

As you move the area, you see the police to the same.  Flashlights are panning everything.  The yards, although not junk yards, do have places where people may hide; under bushes, in sheds, in a pile here or there.  Radios and conversations can be heard clearly.

"Can anybody confirm sighting?"

"Car 147 in front of 10202,"

"Hey...what is going on?"

"Please stay in the house and close the door."

[OOC]Next?

Question, are the sensors on the suit capable of picking someone up even if can't see them?  Like hearing elevated breathing/heatbeat or thermal signature through a wall or something?

I'm wiped out atm and drawing a blank.  Hoping brain will start braining tomorrow!

[OOC]
Your sensors can.  But, with the amount of activity, it isn't as easy as the people in the woods.  There were only the three people in the woods and that is easy to find with thermal vision.  Here, we have police, dogs, the people in their houses, and many hearts pounding.  You can always search auditorily again, use a different sense or monitor what the police do (things could be handled by them without an issue).  If you have an idea on how to 'refine' you search, that could help by lower the RV/OV.

Thinking about 'Cops!'; looking for prone people, looking at any 'toolsheds' with thermal vision, or I listen in to the houses to make sure that I don't hear 'threats and yelling' inside.

Have you tried promising your first born to the Dice Gods???

Knight Wolf - To New Beginnings

Knight crouched there a moment, rethinking.  This wasn't working.  In fact, the more he thought about it, he wasn't really equipped for this kind of work.  He resisted the urge to go down the rabbit hole of pondering new tech options and gear implementations.  He needed to refocus on the task at hand.  To give it one more solid attempt using a logical, systematic approach.

He did a quick calculation, encompassing the search area and calculating the most efficient time to maximize his options.  Turning, Knight made a gravity negating leap to his first point.  He'd wasted enough time as it was.

OOC:
Ok, let's try this one more time...

He'll spend about 10 minutes canvasing doing the pattern/search.  Basically, pick a spot to monitor and maximize what he can observe/scan.  Work for a min, move to next spot.  I figure should only take between 10-20 minutes.  After that, he's done. ;)

[OOC] I like the play sir.  OK...it will only take you about 4 leaps to cover the area.  The police are moving around in the same area, but definitely not looking up.  I will not have you roll for 'stealth' as you stipulated that you're using your power to control your leaping.  You do need to roll vs 4 RV/OV to see what you find in the first leap and second leap.  Your third and forth leap will be 3 RV/OV as both you and the police will be doing the searching and things will get 'tighter' for the suspect.  A high enough role will 'cut to the chase'.

[OOC] It is a shame that the doubles didn't happen first, always love to see what you get when you roll again...but...this works as the rolls on my end were low.

[IC] The police keep combing the area...and seem to be having an issue.  The dark, the yards with fences, the people, and the animals are all causing interference and the search is going slowly.  As you jump to the last sector, you toggle through your display, and get a heat signature of a person that moves from prone (under a bush it looks) to up and running.  It is a single male, not armed (or nothing in his hands), and seeming going to pass between two officers that are out of position to see him.

Softly landing on the roof, Knight stared down as his sensors highlighted the prone figure.  Raising the left hand, he launched the grapple line to entangle the target painlessly.  He was glad he'd decided to keep the component after adding the new movement assist...

OOC:
I have stretching 3.  That's 80'.  We said it was the grapple line.  Not sure what my target # is... but pretty sure I made it!

20:57, Today: Knight Wolf rolled 16 using 2d10 ((9,7)).

[OOC] For any person, or standard thief/thug, their Dex will be 2-3.  Children 2, unless there is a reason, but then they move out of the 'standard' category.  Police tend to be 3-4.  Str and Body will follow much the same range.  And with Stretching, you can get bonuses for the attack.  Either way, you have lassoed the legs.

What is your next move?

[IC] The suspects falls flat on his face.  His legs are roped-up in your grappling line.  He is totally surprised and not understanding what is going on.

Knight cut into the radio channel's he's been observing.  "I see him!  He's in front of [insert address here], crawling to stay hidden!  Quick, I need some help!," he said hurriedly in a slight deeper tone before cutting his broadcast.  He left the grapple line wrapped around the fellow as he kept watch.  Once an officer or two got close enough, he'd retract the cable.

The talk on the radio and feet on the ground become frantic and several flashlights converge on the darkened area.  Two officers round a house and head straight for the prone man.  Some additional house lights come on as well.

"10-4!  Bring the dog."

"Man prone on in area of [insert address here].  Confirm?"

[OOC]  Please describe what you do so I know what I need to do next.

Knight didn't bother to reply.  The intent hadn't been to open a dialogue after all.  Once the officers were close enough to rush the downed fellow, Knight unbound the man and retracted the grapple line.  Still maintaining his vantage point, he waited a bit longer to depart in order to ensure nothing went wrong.  It looked pretty well in hand though.

The teen, struggling with the cable, is suddenly surprised when it slides free of his legs.  Not evening stopping to thinking about it, he jumps up to run.  His first step is met by a low tackle that would have made a 'Monster of the Midway' proud.  Three other offices and two cars are there only a second behind the big hit.  The arrest goes uneventfully from there.  The man is patted down and read his rights.  They do not find a gun, and immediately start combing the yard for anything they can find.

Situation well in hand, Knight turned and leapt silently away.  He was mostly happy with how the suit performed so far on this outing.  It wasn't really meant for combat obviously but it handled most things fairly well.  However, there were more than a few improvements he had in mind as well as a couple other ideas he needed to ponder implementing...

OOC:
Heading out.  If there is something active he could assist with going on, he'll head there.  Otherwise, he'll likely start heading back.

The arrest ends without issue.  As you leapt from the roof, a flashlight hit the spot where you were, but does not fallow you and no alarms are raised.
