Rei contacts the accounting department to determine if Dr. Morris has made proper requests for funds, and if so, what the status of those requests are currently.

Upon review, you find that he has made requests, albeit large requests.  He has received large amounts of funds before (project initiation), but they have not been large continuously.  His research does show some promise (the project reviews say...), but the use cases are currently small.  The RTO would not be there at this time.  It is noted that this is something with a long time frame and is not expected to show profitable results for 10+ years.  The reviewers seem to think budget seems to fit for the stage of the project.  There are no human trials planned.  Currently, his largest request is for a new electron microscope.

His project base was work done by Russian scientists in the 80's.  Where their testing was small and random (does this phage work vs. this infection...if not...try this one, as phages are as variant as viruses), he has started a large database to classify and quantify results, phages, 'preserved' samples for replication, and worked to apply CRSPR like technology to phages for targeted responses.

Satisfied that Dr. Morris is mostly ego behind a potentially good idea, Rei focuses on more important matters.

On the burner phone, she texts Orwell Will be by tonight to get the analysis. Thank you.

She then finishes up her day so that she may get the info and then go try to meet with Ghost Hand.

Rei finishes up her day and then heads to the roof to leave.

She texts Hiromi, Enjoy your dinner with your friend and thank them for the help with Nyxx.

She then steps out onto the roof where she floats up into the air. As she does, her clothing disappears to be replaced by her super outfit.

She then flies to the the area of the trailer where she gets in and among the buildings and alleys before going to it.

As she steps up to the trailer, she waits a moment for acknowledgement before she enters, "Bonjour, Orwell. Anything noteworthy in the analysis?"

As she listens to his response, she decides to fix herself a cup of Jasmine tea.

"Welcome back Ms. Rousseau.  I hope that your day went well.  I have done the following with the data and concluded a few minor items.
1) I have done all of my work in German, where it was appropriate.
2) I have translated anything that was in German to English.
3) I have created a map of all the locations mentioned in the documents or as point of origin for an artifact and find they are all in the North Sea.  This would coincide correctly with the U-505 being a submarine from that area.
4) The documents fall into the following categories (ordered by quantity).  There are just under a 500 total documents.
  A) Requisitions
  B) General personnel orders
  C) Accommodations
  D) Reprimands
  F) Troop orders
  G) Updates on general projects, battlement preparations, and political situations
  F) Letters of agreement/confirmation of orders (these tend to be very short and more of a 'telegraph' format)
5) One third of the documents were from or to a Dienstleiter Brikner.  He was a commander stationed in Northern Europe, on the North Sea.
6) Of the artifacts that were taken, I can find no commonalities, other than items of this nature start at $10,000 at auction.  The documents would be a few hundred to the low thousands per document.
7) I have put the documents in date order.

How do you want me to parse the data?  Do you have questions about the data?"

Without much of a notice, a figure comes through the door, "Oh...hey.  Didn't know anybody was here.  Doc and I just pulled up.  Didn't see a car."  The person moves the goggles from their eyes to their forehead.  This shows a pair of young blue eyes.  [OOC]Para-military gear, thin balaclava, .45 on one and a baton on the other hip, goggles....

At Orwell's comment about her day she sighs, "It was thankfully uneventful, but office culture will always be odd, I think."

She then asks, "What information is available on this Brikner?"

When Shadow appears through the door, "Bonjour, Shadow. I flew in after work to get the information Orwell prepared for me."

[OOC: Did you mean Shadow to say he didn't see a car?]

There is a little light activity that changes on the various LEDs.  "Dienstleiter Brikner.  The rank of Dienstleiter was the highest promotable rank of the National Party level, although a higher rank of Reichsleiter also existed by direct appointment from Hitler.  His assignment moved throughout the war between various cities on the North Sea, until August of 1944.  At that time, he was reported as missing after a military expedition in the Norwegian Sea.  I have found pictures of him at various Nazi party events and some coincide with Adolph Hitler's presence at the events.  None of the documents that I have seen connect him directly to other major Nazi party military members.

"Ahhh...why are we talking about Nazis?", Shadow asks.

Mindstrike ponders as her tea steeps in the cup while she listens to Orwell. At Shadow's question she nods, "Yes. I'm curious about the MSI burglary."

She then says, "Orwell, there have been similar successful thefts of other Nazi collections. Can you look those up and compare the items taken from those thefts to the MSI attempted robbery?"

The good doctor walks in the door.  He is a little slow in his movements.  <"Hello Ms. Rousseau.  It is good to see another person here.  It sounds like you may have found something interesting?"

"I will attempt to find other references to theft of Nazi items globally.  Please give me a few minutes.  I will start with similarities to the items that we have found thus far to find reference points."

"Ahhh...I had not paid attention to what happened....", Shadow mumbles.

Shade enters the room from the other door, looks around and then plops down in the chair you've seen Shade in before.

With both Shade and Shadow in the same room, you can see a few differences.  Although the clothes are the same, Shade carries a .357 revolver with a pair of quick loaders and a collapsible baton.  Shade isn't as big as Shadow either, but not by much.

"Bonjour, Doctor. I don't know if I have found something interesting, but Diablo and Ghost were hired to commit the robbery at MSI. I'm wondering what the reason those items were targeted."

Seeing Shade enter, Mindstrike greets her, "Bonjour, Shade."

She then says, "I hope to meet Ghost Hand tonight. He was sighted the night before in Ping Tom Park protecting the homeless camp there from local gang activity."

Shade does not acknowledge your greeting.

The doctor comes in and sits down at the table.  "Interesting.  I have to admit that I had not thought a theft at MSI would lead to something that interesting.  It has been a while, but when I think of them, I remember the coal mine and the Christmas trees.  I should stop allowing old conceptions guide me."

"Ms. Rousseau, I have found public information about two other robberies.  Both in Europe and both solely of Nazi artifacts.  What was taken is described to be much of what was taken here.  I am looking to see if I can get more information on the artifacts themselves.  One robbery seems to fit the modus operandi followed by Diablo and Ghost.  The other was less nuanced and would be described as 'smash and grab' of items on display by many people.  There were a number of people arrested, but not all and not all of the items were recovered.  I will keep looking."

Mindstrike looks quizzically at the Doctor, "Coal mine and Christmas trees?"

Upon hearing hits in Europe Mindstrike asks, "Where were the robberies? I may be able to get more information with my celebrity back in Europe."

"The professional robbery was at the International War Museum in Duxford, UK and the other was a public display of items for 'museum week' in Copenhagen, Denmark.  The public access display was outside and part of National Museum of Denmark.  Both locals should have more information on what was taken, but I will need time to access their archives.  Both robberies were in the last year.  I have found news articles on other robberies in the EU.  Some of the robberies are of private collections.  I am gathering what information I can now."

The doctor looks at you, "You'll need to spend some time sight seeing.  The coal mine is unique and a Chicago tradition.  The Christmas trees are decorated traditionally from all around the globe.  It is best to go during their Holiday Fundraiser."

Mindstrike sips her tea, "Interpol might have information on all of them. Scotland Yard would likely have information on the UK theft."

She then says to the Doctor, "Hiromi and I get out when we can. We are far more familiar with all the takeouts and pizzerias and the local club scene than anything else, but I do need to get more cultural familiarity her and abroad in the country. The nation is so vast and every state is practically its own nation and culture beyond some broad strokes."

"I have found public records and news articles of several other thefts of Nazi artifacts from private collections all through the United Kingdom and Europe.  There are a few in South America as well, but less is known about them than the others.  I will correlate the public information and try to see which private databases can can access.  Please note; not all of the thefts have the same MO as that here in Chicago, some are are considered 'professional' and some considered non-professional (with some being investigated as petty theft because of the quantity taken) and the name Brikner has come up again in one public record."

Shadow pipes up, "And that, my good people, is what we call a 'clue'.  I think we've hit the 'odds are very low' portion of our investigation.  We might have a contact for more information."

When Shadow says that, Shade stiffens and glances at him.

As she listens, Mindstrike sips her tea. After Orwell is finished and Shadow has commented, Mindstrike says, "This Brikner seems to be the thread that ties everything together. Research on him would be the next logical step."

Then she asks, "Who would this contact be for more information?"

The doctor pipes up, "I don't think we should shake those bushes unless we need to do so.  We have a lot of resources to pull upon without going there."  He seems to give a sideways look at Shadow.  Shade returns to the keyboard.

"Orwell, why don't you go off the expected track and take a look at the Yad Vashem in Isreal.  I wonder if Mr. Brikner is of special interest."

The lights jump a little.  "He is not of special interest.  He is high in the Nazi order, but not wanted for 'special crimes' against humanity.  He was wanted, but is noted as missing.  Missing on the North Sea, but there is nothing on what or why."

Mindstrike ponders a moment, "Perhaps Brikner saw the writing on the wall and faked his death to escape the inevitable prosecution or exploitation by the Unites States or Soviet Union after the War? There are plenty of high ranking Nazis that were never captured that disappeared only to reappear elsewhere. South America seems to have been a popular destination for many."

The Doctor sits forward and bridges his hands, "There would be a lot of activity in the North Sea until the end of the war in Europe.  Him being on a ship and being sunk is a possibility as well.  Orwell...look to see if you can create a map of all his known locations.  Anywhere he was physical located up until he went missing."

"I will go through the documents we have and place locations on a map.  One moment please."

The Doctor gets himself a cup of tea.  "While we are waiting, please play back the timeline of the theft as recreated from events and CPD."  After a delay of a second or two, Orwell starts to rattle off times and events of the day of the theft.  It starts with the record time of the call to CPD and ends with the boat being taken off the beach.

He shifts to look at your, "I'm thinking Diablo and Ghost are hired thieves, what is wanted is in being sought in the collections, and betting there are thefts (and information) we still don't know about.  You?"

Mindstrike finishes her tea and puts her cup and saucer away as she listens. At Sentinel's question, she responds, "Perhaps I should follow up with MSI tomorrow, but for now, I have to see if I can find Ghost Hand and give him an elevator pitch."

She then sighs, "If you will excuse me, I have to go visit the park at night. In Paris this is lovely, but I think it won't be so wonderful here. Au revoir."

Mindstrike exits the trailer and rises into the air before flying relatively low so as to use the streets to navigate to Ping Tom Park. Once there, she looks for the homeless camp as she puts in her strapped earbuds and brings up her dispatch scanner app on her phone. The earbud strap is wrapped around the back of her collar to prevent the loss of the earbuds.

The Doctor tips his cup to you as you get up to leave, "Orwell, please make sure you notify Ms. Rousseau when you are done with the map and the get the timeline into the file for reference."

"Yes Doctor."

The flight to the park is uneventful.  The number of homeless here is low.  Although the end of the day, the summer is coming on and the sun won't be down till 7:30 or so.
