You jump from the 'wolf den' to the storage facility.  Once there, you find it a dirty and cluttered location full of boats and large vehicles (items that would not fit in the car impound lot).  Things are kept on land (boats and that very colorful bus) and on the water.  The security is cameras, a watchman's hut on both entrances, and fencing topped with barbed wire.  Walking around unseen, although normally easy, is a touch more challenging in the maze of vehicles and impounded parts on pallets, and the foot patrols/general visitors that come through every 15 minutes or so.  The lights are dim in parts of the yard and on the water (with most lights pointing outward).  After a few minutes of walking around you find your boat.

[OOC]
Be specific on what you are going to do when you find the boat.

Knight Wolf quietly avoided the patrols.  The electronic security was simple enough to avoid or circumvent.  Unfortunately the lot was not exactly well organized.  Frankly it was a mess and the very disorganization annoyed him slightly.  But it wasn't really his problem and eventually he found the boat in question.

Making sure to minimize any gravity, he circled the vessel a few times before boarding.  It was time to do a thorough investigation.  He'd do his best to not disturb the scene too much and document everything.  Once he was done, he made a mental note to send the information along.

OOC:
Going to to a full scan of vessel with various sensors before going in.  Then going to start checking ship over.  Top, then inside, room by room.  (Not sure how big this vessel is.)  Doing both investigation and sensor scans with suit.

Here's a bunch of rolls for searching.  I will be using Sharp Eyes too.

19:53, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 15 using 2d10 with rolls of 6,9.

Don't forget to roll again when you get doubles.  We had more than one high enough without it though.

[IC]
You find a piece of paper, ripped from a larger sheet.  It has the date, time, and location of "pickup".  It has the name "Mayer" written on it and what looks to be a partial of some letter, but it is lost in the tear.  Only a line exists to let you know it was there.

The remainder of the items you find are what you expect on a boat; life vests, rope, a flair gun, etc.

Here's the doubles roll:
17:01, Today: Knight Wolf rolled 4 using 2d10 ((3,1)).

Wow, that was sad.

So..an 8 total. ;)

When/where is the pickup?  Already past, not yet happened?

Is that a full search/still more to go or all set?

Knight took his time, documenting his meticulous search.  While his search did not turn up much of value, there was something.  The pickup time was likely a bust given the criminals were already apprehended.  But perhaps the name/word might be of value.  He started a potential search as he activated the teleporter; he'd finish refining it later.  But it would get the process started while he continued the investigation.  The car wasn't likely to have much else but he was nothing if not thorough.

OOC:
Ah, gotcha.

The car impound is much cleaner, organized, but has about the same security.  There are more people coming and going as cars are towed 24x7.  You find the car without much issue; the location and description are accurate.  The location of the car is not the worst, but not the best, for a search.

[OOC]
Give me two rolls.  One will be for the search and the second will be for a "stealth check".  You are invisible, but there is still noise and things to see (open trunk or door, some light as it isn't the brightest here, etc.).  If you have ways you are going to minimize that, please describe.

Knight landed softly upon finding the vehicle.  He took a moment to hack the feeds to help ensure no one would notice anything electronically before starting to thoroughly scan the car and check it over.  When one of the patrols came closer, he closed the doors and made it look undisturbed while waiting for them to move along.

OOC:
2 required rolls.
21:14, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 9 using 2d10 with rolls of 4,5.

21:14, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 8 using 2d10 with rolls of 3,5.

I have Interface power that uses my skill (so an 8 atm) to edit the camera feeds/loop them?  Mostly to handle any electronic security; regular people will just have to stealth/go still when they get within sight.
21:26, Today: Knight Wolf rolled 14 using 2d10 ((4,10)).

Although there are people and they are walking the yard, nobody is looking or expecting people in the yard, and you are not discovered.

Upon getting into the car, you find that is has been cleaned (dash clean and shinny, the seats a little slick, there is a smell from some 'evergreen' air freshener, the rugs vacuumed, etc.).

Knight frowned slightly.  Someone had done a good job of cleaning the vehicle.  He had to assume the perpetrators given the police hadn't check it yet.  With nothing left of interest in the area, it was time to go.  He activated the teleporter, letting it charge up before disappearing once more.

OOC:
No registration or anything huh?  K.

Heading back.  See if can compile and put clues together.

The glove has a few items (gauge, flashlight, manual, etc.), but no paperwork.  The spare, a manual pump, and jack are in the trunk.  It is trickier to get in and out quickly, but you can do it.

The car still has a VIN.

This was professionally cleaned.

Let me know what 'Chicago's Greatest Detective' is doing next.  :)

Taking the VIN, he returned to his base.  Knight didn't bother taking the armor off this time.  Odds were good he'd be busy again quite soon.  If not, it wouldn't be hard to remove.  But his computer connection and processing power would be better here, so here he was.

He started multi-tasking, opening up multiple searches.  He had to work on registration, ownership, GPS.  Not to mention, he had to edit his footage before sending it along to the police.  Afterwards, he'd summarize the whole thing.  But for now, he had quite a bit or research to dive into.

OOC:

Chicago's Greatest Detective... No bloody likely.  ;)

Not sure how many rolls are needed.  I know at least 3; threw in a 4th just in case (which is of course why it sucked!) another was needed.

13:58, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 8 using 2d10 with rolls of 6,2.

13:58, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 13 using 2d10 with rolls of 9,4.

After a few hours, you find the following things.
- The boat was taken from a slip up in Milwaukee down to Chicago.  It went straight to location CPD picked it up and the GPS stops.
- The boat was reported as stolen, but after it was confiscated by CPD.  It was reported stolen in Milwaukee.  The information just filtered down to CPD.
- The car is registered, but it does not match any of the names of the arrested.
- CPD reports they pulled finger prints off one of the artifacts, but they have not run it against the finger print database (results not back).
- They have pictures of the arrested people in their system now.

[OOC]
There are a lot of moving parts here.  Multiple rolls are fine, but please do give me some idea on what you are using and to what end.  It can be nebulous, but some direction is needed.  And the lows rolls, when you are of 'really high intelligence', are sort of relative.

Also remember (EVERYBODY), when you have a high intelligence I am lenient on some items (like computer hacking without the skill), but there will be blocks are times.  If it doesn't fit the character (a smart neanderthal) won't be able to do things without the skill.  This, to me, helps the flow of PbP and makes it feel more like comics.

Sorry, I thought I had given that direction/intent.  Will try to be more specific.

Luckily I have high intelligence and the skill. ;)  (Or at least I think I have a high intelligence?  Still learning scale and system.)

Can I do/expedite the finger print search?  Or independent?

What are the rules about "trying again" on something?  Such as the face search in the more restricted systems?

Brain is utterly fried but that's about all I can think of doing atm.

Things are progressing.  Everything is fine.

You can always try again.  All it costs you is time.  I'll always try to give you an idea on that cost.

The finger prints need to be run against the CPD database (which has hooks into a national database if you select to), but the system will work at the speed of that system.  And that is slower than anything you have....

As to scale, a normal human is 2.  Each AP is double the last. 3 is twice as smart.  4 is four times as smart.  5 is eight.  So you are 64 times smarter than the average person.  It mounts quick and does make it harder to do low level NPC/characters.  But...in DC...Wild Cat to Superman....

Ok, then I would like to try again on both getting into the more secure systems both for the finger print check as well as the facial recognition.  Add to that tracking down (again through secure systems) owners of the car (since wasn't reported stolen) and the boat; I doubt they mean anything.  This is just me trying to be through.  And then trying to put clues together for next lead.  (After all that, my gadgeteer should probably do SOME kind design/gadgeteering work...)

As always, priority is to cover my tracks / not get caught/tracked back.  Assuming a bunch of rolls were needed.

20:46, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 13 using 2d10 with rolls of 10,3.

20:46, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 12 using 2d10 with rolls of 8,4.

20:49, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 18 using 2d10 with rolls of 9,9.

20:49, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 16 using 2d10 with rolls of 8,8.

20:49, Today: Secret Roll: Knight Wolf rolled 6 using 2d10 with rolls of 5,1.

That's a ....  40?!?!   Don't know what I did to earn that one.  Maybe the dice felt bad for me due to all my earlier rolls?

To follow-up on a few items after a PM....

[IC]
It takes time, but in an hour or so you find the additional following items.

1. The car was never reported stolen.  But the owner was reported deceased just a few days ago of a heart attack.  The investigation is on-going.
2. You do not get a facial hit on the security guard.  There are a few possibilities (5), but none have a higher match percentage than 60%.
3. You get the names of the three men on the boat.  All of them are known low level criminals in Chicago and the surrounding area; armed robbery, vehicular theft, sale of stolen goods, etc.  They are all connected, but not part of a family.

Knight Wolf Primary

Knight took a few moments to digest everything he'd uncovered as well as where the various leads seemed to end.  There was more there; he just wasn't seeing it.  Too much on his mind.  The clues, the suit's performance, the new weapon and accessory designs he was pondering, business, family.  Sometimes, he thought, it'd be nice to be able to shut off his power and let his mind have a moment of peace.  But it was just a passing thought.

Still, his avenues for this particular case seemed to be at an end.  Knight took several long minutes compiling everything he had discovered.  Much would be things already discovered but Knight was a thorough fellow and didn't want to leave anything out.  Just in case.  The 2 criminals, the boat and the car, the owners (one reporting it stolen in one case and dead in the other), the unknown security guard spying, everything on the items from the theft.  The results of Knight's searches (good and bad).  The small note with the name one it.  Everything.  He even included his own recordings, though admittedly, those were scrubbed to prevent any data of his technology being recovered.

Once it was finished, he set up another secure system of communication with cutouts.  One of these days, he simply needed to do some globe hopping and set up his own system, he thought absently.  Link up secure, he sent the package to Mindstrike's account as well as one to the police department as before.  It hadn't been that long ago that he'd sent the first message to the police; was it really less than 12 hours?  It was entirely possible they hadn't even read the prior messages yet, let alone start to verify any of the information.  He gave a mental shrug; they'd get there eventually he figured.

But for now, his work in that particular area was done.  There was still much to do in others.

OOC:

No, we didn't name him.  Just did some generic investigation for good/fair cop/detective (who was at least connected with supers in some way in the past cases) and sent to him.

The whole bouncing signal through various satellites and servers and cutouts and such to make it impossible to trace.  Same stuff I've done for all other communication.  This is for all communication, in and out.  Mostly I'm being super careful.  But honestly it's probably overkill.  If you can basically do the same thing by buying burner phones (which anyone with 100 bucks could do really), I'd assume a super genius tech guy should do this in his sleep.  But I wanted to be clear/sure I guess.  *shrug*

Actually, yes.  The reason is I am trying to work WITH them.  Providing information from an unverified source cannot be used in a legal case/charges.  So I'm ensuring that the information I uncover and provide is both documented and it follows all procedures the police do in investigation (baring the trespassing on the police property).  I'm fairly certain I'm a far better investigator and forensic expert than anyone else in the vicinity so it should be easy enough.  I don't want what is discovered to be thrown out/inadmissible/dead ended due to bureaucracy.  Yes, it does implicate me in the misdemeanor of "trespassing" or possibly "interfering with a police investigation" but...vigilantes exist so not sure how that'd go.  Plus, Knight doesn't particularly care about those 'crimes'. ;)
