When you get back out to the path along the lake, you find the number of people have increased.  There are more people running...more people on bicycles...more people on the shore line.  The number of people selling things as you travel has increased as well (a quick look shows people exchanging a paper money for whatever is being sold).  You still fit in as 'casual clothes' are still a fit for the time of day.  You do note that a few eyes turn your way as you walk along, but nobody bothers you in any way.

Places can look very different between day and night, even though the lights of a modern city keep it far more bright than an evening has any right to be. So, even things she saw the first time she looked at once again, noting differences. Seeing more people out and about even though it was later was a surprise- it had not been so hot that they needed to wait for evening.

Paper money was not new to her, the Ottomans and others had used it in the 1800's, although it seemed a strange thing to have and put faith in. As much as she considered wealth at all, since she owned nothing and really needed nothing at all, she preferred precious gems for their beauty and the way they could sparkle.

She looked at, studied even, people as she went, but she avoided eye contact as much as possible, specially with those who looked at her.

Her walk was much as the first time, but she would stop to investigate places where large numbers of people gathered, seeing if it explained why the numbers out and about had increased.

You wandering and sightseeing brings you to 'Oakwood Beach'.  The path was flat, but it did take about 25 minutes to meander your way there.  Although nobody in the water, there are a few playing a game in the fading light (ball and net they keep hitting back and forth), a few people still fishing, and just a handful laying on the sand enjoying the end of the day.

[OOC]
If the objective is still Willis Tower (well lit and easy to see even from where you are) I'll skip to 'Downtown Loop' area.  If there is anything you wish to expand on, please do so.

She wandered about the various things she saw, still in no hurry. The fishermen, she would go over and see how they were faring. Unless approached earlier, this would probably be the first time she spoke to someone. The conversation would be short and polite, simply asking how the day's catch had been. She would simply move on afterwards, unless they were rude about things to her. If so, as she was walking away, she would blink whatever their catch there had been back into water.

She watched the game being played. It seemed simple enough to understand, just do not let the ball hit the ground and put it over to the other side. There were some other rules, but those seemed to be the base for the game, so it was easy enough to enjoy.

As she continued, if she saw any players of shuturanij (chess) out on the park, then she would open interaction again, and request a game. If not, she would continue on her way.

(ooc)
Willis Tower is where she is heading because it would be nice to see up close, but that is mostly because it is the most visible landmark. It is not a rush in her mind, as she could blink herself over if she truly feels the need. Her primary objective at this time is to study the people and culture here- their dress, accents, to better fit in if she needs to do so, to see and learn about things in as innocuous way as possible. Other than that, I have no great game plan for her tonight. Just having fun. ^_^

As you wonder and converse, you find people willing to talk.  The few fishermen there seem to be catching little to nothing.  Most this bothers, but for the oldest.  He is less worried about the catch than the easy end of the day.  "To catch a fish would ruin my peace and quiet.  HEHEHEHE."

You find no shuturanij here.  Most of the people seem more active...moving.

It isn't long before you get close to buildings.  They are on the other side of the busy road from you.  You note that they start at about 5 stories and after a block, they are all about 6...the next 7.  Then they jump and you start to see a mix of 10, 15, up to 20 story buildings.  Most are still brick or stone here, but you can see in a few blocks they jump higher and catch the setting sun.

All of the buildings are farther away from you and the green space as increased.  On this side of the road, there are more trees, more beach and more people.  On the other side of the road you see gardens, statues, and twisting paths and roads.  Everywhere there are cars and noise.  The noise isn't so bad as there are embankments all around, but it is always the hum just below.  You see people crossing from one side to the other by bridges, underpasses and even some at street level.

She smiles in response to his jest. يجب على كل إنسان أن يتصرف بإيقاع عصره ، فهذه هي الحكمة. "Every man must act in the rhythm of his time, such is wisdom." she responded, reciting a not-uncommon Egyptian proverb. It was a macro verse used for a micro moment, but she was not being wholly serious either.

The buildings were just as impressive close up, and she looked quite the tourist, neck tilted back to look up to the sky. How many people lived in this city, she began to wonder. Lights were starting to come up as well, and she began to wonder what they would like if this continued. Perhaps she would stay out longer to see.

The statues caught her eye and she definitely wanted to see those. What history did they commemorate? How long did they remember the past? Of course, she would have to find out when it was now to find the latter out, but that could be discovered later. She crossed over, going when a group of others did as well to blend in.

As you walk, the new things come more and more, faster and faster.  The buildings continue to rise.  Passing over, you end up in a park that runs from south to north.  The time and the distance blur.  And then you find yourself beside the tower you'd been seeing for some many miles.

She took her time going out and looking at the sculptures and statues. She was most familiar with other styles, but could appreciate these as well. Even if she did not know these people or what they did, the art was still art. And perhaps she could guess the broad strokes- Native Americans were obvious enough, the bearded Abraham not so much. And she had no idea why they chose to commemorate a bean. Perhaps there had been a famine here and this food staple had been what had gotten them through it?

Finally reaching the tower, she marveled at it. It was about three times the height of the Pyramid of Khufu! She decided she really wanted to see the city from the top of it. So, she shifted completely to her state of smoke, and blinked herself to the top of it. If there was a walkway, or solid place to stand, then she would re-solidify to better see and walk about, but if not, she would just take it in as fog, floating with the breeze and the sky.

[OOC]

Not sure I could, but there is room.  This guy looks a little weak kneed.  From this height, there is new perspective on the clouds too.
