Re: The Sidekick Lounge (OOC)

Going to give Armadillo one more day to logon and post to close out this action. Otherwise, I'll close it out Tuesday.

We'll have a little bit of talky-rp stuff to close out the whole issue, then I'll whisk us off to a winter holiday themed issue!

Re: The Sidekick Lounge (OOC)

I have two ideas for the next issue. I like them both and they each have their pros and cons. I figured I'd let the group vote on which they prefer.

1. Murder Mall - our heroes are trapped in a shopping mall and must find everything on their gift list by dawn. But the mall itself is trying to stop them, and why are those elves about to throw santa claus into a giant vat of orange julius???

2. Naughty and Nice - Uatu has been making a list and checking it twice. He's got coal and presents, but is sworn not to interfere, so he needs a delivery service.  Deliver all the packages in the next 24 hours. This wormhole-sled and interdimensional sack should help, but don't let anyone see you!

#1 delivers on a requested villain, but is less aligned with the odd jobs angle than #2.

So, which do you prefer?

They both sound like fun... but I think I'll vote for #1.

I’m leaning toward #2, but wither would work.

Re: The Sidekick Lounge (OOC)

I'd be fine with either but would lean toward #1 only since #2 will be dated when we're playing this well after Christmas (or well before the one next year).

They both sound fun, but something about a murder-mall seems too good to pass up.

Re: The Sidekick Lounge (OOC)

I'm leaning towards the mall, too, for similar reasons to Iceman. With the rate of PbP, it'll no longer be the festive season by the time it really gets going. Also it shouldn't be too hard to work an odd job into a trip to the mall. Especially with magic dog needs.

Re: The Sidekick Lounge (OOC)

This week is proving more busy than I though. Pre-holiday rush and all.

I'm planning on taking work-holiday next week and mostly work-holiday the week after. Thus, I'm optimistic I'll have time/energy to start the next thing in that timeframe.

If you don't see anything else from me before you celebrate whatever you celebrate, happy holidays!

Re: The Sidekick Lounge (OOC)

The expectation always seems to be that people will be busy over the holidays, but at the same time, oftentimes people have that time off! It's probably just one extreme or the other. (As for me, I'm done with school until early January but maybe just as available as any other time. The wife (possibly) having the time off work could go either way for me.)

I'll add in: Happy Holidays, everyone!

User name change

FYI, I'm in the process of trying to change my RPoL user name to SacMan and apparently need to notify any games I'm in. We'll see if it goes through.

(The unwieldy "sacmarvelrpg" was chosen to give my old IRL players something easy to remember when they searched me to join my game... which, y'know, never actually happened...)

User name change

I picked my RPOL user name well before I thought I'd be on the site so much. If I knew I was going to do so much on here for so long I'd have given more thought to my name. I've just gotten used to it (as I have with various other sites I've given a dumb name to, including the site where I met my wife).

User name change

I'm sort of still here. Hope everyone had a good holiday season and is still healthy!

Been a little distracted this week. Honestly, my RPOL-energy has been low lately. Distractions are part of it, but also flagging interest. Maybe I'll perk up in a week or two.

January often saps the energy out of me, too. At least until the end of the month. It’s definitely been a distracting sort of month on my end. My BF’s job shut down because a few coworkers were exposed to Covid. He’s anxious, but healthy, and we’re okay for money. My mom has been in several hospitals since Thanksgiving for hip surgery, infection treatment, and early PT. I can’t see visit because the current hospital isn’t allowing any visitors for at least two weeks, until they get their own Covid numbers under control.

So I definitely feel you on the distractions, and that’s not even getting into the messy state of America nowadays.

Well, I'm a patient player, and can wait however long you need to get back into the swing of things. For both of you! This has been a really rough holiday season. Hopefully we'll all get a chance to recover soon.

Re: User name change

We've been safe and healthy and busy with our lives since the pandemic started, but my wife got sick the week of Christmas and I haven't left the house since and we haven't seen anyone. Christmas Day was just Friday or whatever day it was (but at least we got WW84 for New Year's). I know a lot of folks have had the same experience. I'm still hanging on and keeping up with MHR as much as anyone is. So I'm still here too, and I'll be here when you're ready. Of course I've been checking in and hoping this one will pick up again but I know it's only because of life getting in the way that it isn't. So I'm hoping you're getting through safely and I think I speak for everyone that we'll be here and ready when you are.

I'm still monitoring. Hitting a busy patch at work w/ lots of overtime, so best to keep this game on hiatus a couple weeks longer.

Re: User name change

It was a worthwhile experiment. You get a ton of points for the Northern Exposure love alone! That show, btw, NEEDS a spot on the myriad streaming services! Sorry to see the game end, but your personal life comes first. Thanks for giving me a chance to get into MHR!

Re: User name change

Sad to see it end but I had fun playing too, FWIW. It lasted longer than some games I've been in, and these games are a bigger undertaking than we probably give them credit for. This is a great group of players and I'm sure our paths will cross again (if they haven't already). Thanks for running it, Watcher.

Re: User name change

I'm also sad to see this go. It was a great idea, and a fantastic combination of characters, and I'm proud of the effort we put into it.

Thanks for the work, Watcher. I've known you for a while now and you can't seem to stay away from RPOL for too long so I look forward to when you come back and I hope you'll look me up when you do. You can count me in for the next game you run, whenever that may be.

And if the rest of y'all need a Marvel Heroic game, there is mine which is always open:

We're coming up on a big battle, the climax of the campaign (that's been going on for over five years now), and after that a new, exciting status quo. Lots going on, but there's always a space for new players, and especially anyone who's been here. Check it out!

And take care, everyone, if we don't meet again!
