Long sword and dagger.  The off hand has t ok be dagger or hand axe, and dagger is more thiefly to me.

I didn't think about keeping Gamma as my name, and it is tempting . . . But I'll be

Well met Tanyl. :)

And interesting to hear the different fighting styles emerge. Vala is also proficient in the shortsword and the light crossbow, though she can't afford the second at the moment.

How many new players where you thinking of recruiting DM Bard?

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Four, if the mix is right.  You have some magic, some healing, some fighting skill already, so probably 4 is enough.  Maybe five is the right player wants to join.  I reached out to some of the old-timers from SH and already have one who will join shortly.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Sounds cool. Four or five could work well I think.

In sad news for old school players everywhere I've read the artist Jim Holloway has died. He's probably best known for the illustrations for Paranoia but he drew a lot of D&D too.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

For those with a history in previous SH adventures, I posted a recent history.  For some of you, the recent history is actually your other selves future.   You might get a kick out of it,  and remember,  its: One possible future. From your point of view. I don't know tech stuff.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Hello all, Delta here.

I am considering a gnome character, probably an illusionist. I was considering fighter illusionist, but the house rules for caster-fighters and their armor is a bit tighter than 1st E. RAW, so maybe not.

Curious if the DM is flexible with the multi-c;ass options for the race? I was thinking perhaps Illusionist-cleric or illusionist ranger.

That said, no big deal, single class sounds fine too...

Let me know!

Welcome Delta.  Gnomes are a right barrel of laughs ... I'm curious how you see your illusionists?  Tricksters or Sculptors of reality or maybe something else?

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Illusionists are a lot of fun - I had a blast playing Saliq and look forward to doing so again in the future.

That said I think having another non-spellcaster would be nice and make Vala feel less lonely.

Oh and very interesting recent history DM!

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

I opted for illusionist/fighter, the ability to be more useful in the early going overriding the urge to level quickly.

As to how I view my illusions, I consider them to be like holographic visions, if that makes sense.

And yes, the recent history, with the younger generation ruling the city sounds interesting.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

OK, we have 4 sheets just about ready to go.  I've PM'd each of you with some suggestions, if you find I'm giving wrong changes, feel free to let me know.  I am certainly capable of missing something.   Looks like 4 strong characters, we should be ready to go very soon. Nice job all, looking forward to it.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Also, for our mage/illusionists, please read the wizards guild section.  You can either choose to join as a full member if you plan to reside in Stormhaven for awhile, or get an Affliate membership for 5gp's per year.  Without some type of membership, it is not legal to practice magic within the walls of Stormhaven.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

I don't want to download the OSRIC, what is the starting cash for a fighter/illusionist anyone? All I have in the PHB, and I'm not sure how they differ.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Each character begins the game with a certain amount of money to buy initial equipment—how much depends on the character’s class. Clerics and druids receive 30-180gp (3d6 x 10); fi ghters, rangers and paladins receive 50-200gp ((3d6+2) x 10); magic users and illusionists receive 20-80gp (2d4 x 10), while thieves and assassins receive 20-120gp (2d6 x 10).  Multiclass individuals receive the award for the wealthiest of their classes (thus, a fi ghter/thief would receive the starting money of a fi ghter, while a cleric/magic user would receive the starting money of a cleric).

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

So I need to roll... wish me luck!

Those are the same numbers as the PHB, by the way, curious what is different in the OSRIC except for the organization.

You didn't wish hard enough. Today: Delta rolled 9 using 3d6+2 ((3,2,2)). 90 gold. Owy.

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Sorry Delta, you didn't give us enough time to wish!

I don't have the books in front of me to the best of my knowledge OSRIC is almost identical to the PHB (and DMG) except for a few tweaks in things like names for wizard spells (ie. not 'Bigby', 'Mordenkainen' etc.) I actually did buy a copy of the PHB so I check it if it ever comes up. :)

I was thinking a shortbow might be a good idea as a weapon of choice for you Delta. It is pretty cheap (15 GP), gives up some ranged ability and I'm assuming that as an Illusionist you have a pretty good Dexterity right?

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Just to be clear while I've called Vala a 'barbarian' I just mean she's from a rough and tumble warrior society background that many in Stormhaven would probably see as barbarian not that she's a part of the Barbarian class. She's a Fighter. :)

Re: OOC: Table Talk ONE

Would it be rude to request different colors for each of us, dialogue wise?
