Tales.   They are the beginning and the end of adventures.   It is so even in the great City.  It has been twenty years since Stormhaven endured the Purge.  Few now remember the details of it, and those who do, never speak of it.   The place itself, an abandoned temple built down below in Oldtown, its nicest building actual, except every door and window are masoned over with stone, and any who walk by it avert their eyes, and say silent prayers.  It is said a great power is buried there, and once a Temple with many followers.   Many, many of them died during the Purge, but certainly not all, and yet, no one has since admitted to being a member.   Rumors continue to this day that a secret sect still inhabits the city, plotting to re-open its doors.  But rumors are what they are.

While none talk of the Purge, Tales of the heroes of that night are told.  It is said Doc the Dwarf returned to the Middling Mountains of his birthplace, there to teach the healing arts that played such a role in that fateful night.  It is said Inas the Ranger adventured more but settled down with a young woman whose pet squirrel took a liking to ancient pet cat.  It is said they live near to Seven Falls Canyon.   Aldo Rathman, it is rumored, has three girls and is happily settled.   Some say once a year, all of them gather together in the bar where it all started and tell their own tales.

Many changes have come to the city in the last five years, giving a feeling of new beginnings, of hope, and of opportunities.  It is a sprawling and wealthy city.
The young, strong, and handsome Lord Thyrandas IV has taken his place as Lord Mayor not three years ago.  His father at last growing old enough to see the wisdom in stepping down.   Though many await seeing if he has his father’s skills, he is yet untested, but is full of vigor and much talk surrounds his possible choice of a wife in the coming years.
The docks have flourished and grown into a world center of trade and a strong navy as well under the leadership of Marissa Ehridol.  She not only has stepped in for her mother in leading the dockside, but is renown in the City for healing those whom even the temples cannot heal.

The Wizards Guild has a new Master not more than four years ago.   When Master Azuth the Red was realized it was time he retired ten years ago, he named Saliq Musafa to succeed him.   As it is basically a lifetime appointment (at least until ones skills decline beyond being able to lead effectively), Saliq declined but agreed to stay on as Head Teacher until he could appoint the next Master himself.   For many years, word of a mysterious young apprentice leaked from the Guild.  A beautiful young women, not even of age, with hair so pure it was silver or white.  The students loved her, being both funny, inquisitive and already one of the most powerful wizards anyone had ever met.  Four years ago, Saliq presented Master Lady Astryllis to the City shortly before leaving it himself.  It is said Saliq was returning home, to settle some family business.

So it is, that the young, fed the rich weavings of such tales, grow up with blood yearning for adventure, yearning for wealth and fame, and to be able to retire and listen to their own tales told one day!
