Rules and Setting

Built with stone cut from the ruin of Wailer's Hold, the mountain town of Misthaven has nestled in isolation for three-and-a-half centuries - home to Alderlander and Meromannian families together with  Ailander and Aslene refuges as the Blood Mist fell and shrouded the settlement to all but ruin.

Four years ago, the mists began to fade and lift and the Alder Council sent out their best to unearth what lay beyond, seeking rumours and trade. Each Harvest Day some returned, and each Springwane and Summerise saw a scattered of trappers, peddlers and traders. But this Fallturn, watching the greensward of The Shroud burnish itself with copper and iron, none came and the bitter winter passed with worry and doubts.

It is Springturn soon, and the Alder Council has asked for a few hardy souls to venture forth once more

Character Creation

Building a character should mechanically follow the rules in the Player's Handbook, with some restrictions on your Kin based on the setting. You should choose from Human, Dwarf or Half-Elf (or more broadly with a solid backstory, with Goblin and Orc most tricky) bearing the information on the town of Misthaven and the respective cultural tensions.

Your RTJ should provide the following, together with a short writing sample:
  1. Your character's name or nickname
  2. Your upbringing, family, culture and kin
  3. Your formative years and profession
  4. Your reason for leaving Misthaven

We will begin with a short solo session each, to establish your characters, in the few days leading up to the party leaving town. After which, the campaign will be heavily character-driven and sandbox-style with a story arc running in the background - if necessary I can racket that arc up or down to help keep things moving

Stories and Posting

Please keep posts in the IC threads in-character and third-person, from the outsider perspective. You're welcome to include thoughts and inner monologues but please make them private to me. Pick a colour for speech and use quotes - use Orange for OOC remarks and rolls

Please try and post within 48 hours of GM posts and ensure everyone in the thread has had a chance to post once before posting more than a couple of times. Folks may be in different time zones
