"Officer Country" is located squarely in the center of deck two of the Sharshana's forward section. One of the best lounge/bar areas on the ship is, unsurprisingly, located at its heart.

One of the better places for in-character chatter not related to any other scene. Other options are available upon request!

     "A freaking Bar!!  Ha-ha!  Woo-Hoo!!  Ha-ha!  Yeah!!"

     "Let's crack open the good stuff and see how long it takes before someone rips off their shirt!!  Wa-ha-ha!"

Mammady sighs.  "Dude, my name is KaouthRAK, not 'the Suerrat'", said the Suerrat.  And are you saying you'll give me sixty creds for drinking a beer.  It just happens that I am a Muslim but I am sure Allah would be Merciful and Compassionate in the light of such a small sin for such a large reward. Oh... not that kind of a bar.  Allah be praised, I have no need to sully myself with fermented grain or grape."

The ship's AI, (or rather part of its computing power) now freed from trying to link the Duke of Zheng and the Emissary Anarraea, and authenticating seals, had been requisitioned to serve as a DJ and cocktail experimenter.

"Louder!", shouted Iita for the 3rd time.
She then took two large cocktail glasses, and found a discrete table for two.

"Let's release the tension", Iita told Jacqueline Yune, "before our next move towards another suspicious ship...". And the Chief Engineer started to suck the straw to savor the bubbling blue mix.

Jacqueline took one of the glasses after she set down her tablets. "Not sure I've had one of these before. What is it?" she asked. "I could really use a release from the tension... personal confrontations like that aren't my strong suit."

The skinny engineer gave an appreciative look upon the astrogator. "What are you faltering? You were built for politics. You're brilliant, extremely well-educated, daughter of a Baron, and mmh, cute and graceful. You'll make foreign diplomats melt before those eyes!", she blurted out.

"Regarding your shyness, did you try acting in theatre groups?", Iita turned to the next subject.

Sometimes it was good to be ten years older, and give advice like a big sister.

Thenroy sat alone, as was customary when he wasn't specifically treating his favorite officers to a luxurious dining experience.

He was frowning over the tablet in front of him, trying to edit the report to put their interactions with the Vargr envoy in the proper context for High Command.


Engineering noticed a discrepancy in the fuel tank that could have been a smuggling hideout however before that could be verified the envoy revealed she was on a diplomatic mission for Duke...


He frowned and started to rewrite that line. He started punching the inputs in frustration as he chewed on his lip. Telling one of the highest ranking nobles in the area who had bankrolled the ship he was commanding that he had intercepted an envoy because she was a Vargr and there were pirates in the area....well that definitely couldn't be what he put in his report.


As this is a new ship with a green crew it has been ship's protocol to...


He frowned and erased the sentence again, going back and replacing it with a new attmept


...scans proved inconclusive and as per protocol a level 3 inspection was to be performed. While this was being performed Anarraea's identity was confirmed and the inspection was canceled...

Jacqueline sipped her drink. "Oh, you're too kind." she said gratefully. She appreciated the encouragement. "I did have a very good education, but numbers always make more sense to me than people. I never had much sucess melting men with my eyes."
"Actually, that's part of how I ended up here" she admitted softly.

"No, I never acted. Father thinks acting is a low profession." she said. "I did dance ballet for a while."

"Can you believe, Jacquie, that half of the shakedown cruise is behind us? We're three jumps from Zeng! Before we know it, we'll be back at home... Then we'll split and be reassigned wherever the navy will see it fit, each on our own way... Talk about a way to break relationships..."

She crossed her arms on the table and let her head rest on it. "Sometimes I dream, after my term is over, that I'll just join an independent freighter, hopping from planet to planet according to market opportunities, meeting people from various backgrounds, not only military..."

Jacqueline smiled gently. "I'll miss you. Hrolf and the Baron too. Maybe we'll get assigned together"
