Sestos->Mtensc.

  A few days spent in the Sestos system weren't likely to make or break the mission, but they'd proven to be a useful dry run for operations that the Sharshana would undertake in the actual mission area. A little bit of hands-on experience could make a lot of difference if the crew had to operate under real pressure.

  Another week in jump space would give everyone time to assess things and adjust their plans and schedules to suit, and though it was far from being worked through, the list of little things was growing shorter far more quickly than it was gaining new entries.

  So many little things. So many tiny details that a senior officer usually didn't need to know about. But they could add up over time, especially without good leadership. Fortunately, the Sharshana had that...

  ...didn't it?

There's a chance to improve the Sharshana's ECEI: the commanding officer (Thenroy) needs to make a Leadership check (Int, Difficulty 10) to see how things are going.

For the sake of PBPost we'll even let others assist. In fact, with this being a shakedown cruise and everyone getting the ship into shape, we'll require it!

For everyone else you can use either Admin (Int) or Leadership (Int), Difficulty 10.

Results from the major department heads (XO, Chief Gunner, Chief Engineer) will affect Thenroy's result.

Results from everyone else will affect the roll by the (most-)relevant department head.

It would mean that "everyone else" rolls first, and then the "major heads" roll with a DM, and the CO waits until those people's results and DMs come in? :)

Or do we roll ASAP and the results of the lower grades rolls impact the results of the higher ups rolls? (e.g. I as Chief Engineer roll 8, then my subordinate Kaouthrak rolls 12 so my 9 becomes a 11)

Re: Sestos->Mtensc.

Sidare was having and off day.  She'd been extremely terse, bordering on unprofessional, with one of her gun-captains and hadn't been able to do it behind closed doors.  It was not her best leadership moment...

18:27, Today: Sidare Dinsha rolled 6 using 2d6+2.  Leadership Check.

You can make them in whatever order and I'll add the effects accordingly.

If this is a requirement... bc with a difficulty of 10, Iita would be more useful if she didn't assist! ;)

10:19, Today: Iita Tsetsegma rolled 11 using 2d6+2.  Admin check.

Hey, all hands on deck actually helped to make the inventory! We might not find ourselves lacking spare parts, after all...

Re: Sestos->Mtensc.

There were no blooper-reel moments during your operations at Sestos, and because of that, and the crew getting a chance to work together in actual (if low-challenge) operations for the first time, there'll be an additional +1 to the final Effect!

Re: Sestos->Mtensc.

Hrolf set up a series of training programs with the bridge and piloting crew not only to assess and hone their skills but to bring them together as a team.  He ran timed drills with each of the three watches against the others over the course of the week always challenging them to do better.  He held several debrief sessions where each team shared what worked and didn't so each watch could not only draw on what worked with the others but the officers and crew would bond together as a group.  He also asked Lt. Yune to participate by bringing in her astrogation expertise to help improve the challenge and fidelity of the piloting and navigation exercises.

"This is the Captain speaking. Crew of the Sharshana so far your performance in Sestos has been adequate but adequate is not going to hold the enemies of the Imperium at bay. We will be taking on supplies in the Mtensc system so I expect our first interaction with another ship to go as smoothly as possible."

OOC:

22:17, Today: Baron Thenroy Reziilka rolled 7 using 2d6+4.  leadership/soc.

Let's hope there are enough bonuses to push this over the edge...

Re: Sestos->Mtensc.

Just before a Jump was the most stressful part of Jacqueline's job; once they were underway she had some time to unwind and to assist Hrolf with the training program he was running. She also had assistant astrogator double check all her calculations; that was her least favorite part of the job, bringing in someone to doubt her and show where she'd messed up. But it made good sense. She also did research on their destination and shared what she found so the crew would be prepared.

23:30, Today: Jacqueline Yune rolled 9 using 2d6.  Leadership.
I have a 1 in leadership I forgot to include, so that should be a pass

Every day on board is stressful to Mammady but he deals with stress calmly and efficiently, just as he deals with the electronics under his expert eye.  He is exploring the silent parts of the ship and he knows how to get from A to B to Z undetected as well.  It could seem as though the ship were haunted.

17:17, Today: Mammady Kaouthrak rolled 9 using 2d6.  Electronics (2) roll.

Re: Sestos->Mtensc.

There's something about routine. It's so... routine.

The crew of the Sharshana has kept things together over the last three weeks of in-system operations and jump travel. There were moments, of course, and the talent show still elicits knowing smiles from most of the crew that attended, and snippets of the captain's more blustery lines have become the subject of (covert) parody. That things are being run as efficiently as can be expected amidst the  irritation of everything being just slightly out of place and prone to faulting at inconvenient moments certainly doesn't hurt.

Nor does the promise of a full resupply at Mtensc. A few days of better meals makes present inconvenience that much easier to bear!

Thenroy finished with a 9, generating an Effect of -1.
+1 because things went smoothly at Sestos.
-1 for the Sharshana's User-Unfriendly quirk.

ECEI Change: 2d6 - 1. Result: 6. No change!
