Mtensc->Beaxon.

A week in jump space can seem like an eternity... or it can seem to pass before you know it, depending on how busy you are and how much time you have to fret about what may come.

Generous provisioning and a successful operation on the books help in either case!

Thenroy may take advantage of this to attempt to improve ECEI:

To obtain an increase of +1 ECEI, an event that can increase ECEI must occur and the ship’s commanding officer must make an Average (8+) Leadership check (2D x 5 minutes, INT). Morale is modified by the result of this check, and can go down if the event is mishandled.

There is also a -1 DM to the roll due to the Sharshana's User-Unfriendly trait.

An appropriate speech and/or tour of the ship should accompany the roll itself, of course!

"So many gifts and luxuries replenished... plus messages from home", Iita thought, glancing at the inventory all green on the spreadsheet, spirits high. She felt the officers felt stressed by the latest events and needed to let off the steam.

She organizes a secret party for the officers. Would our jump date coincide with someone's birthday?

[OOC : do you want it to be your birthday? Or should I roll a die to designate someone? ;)]

Jacqueline threw herself in to her work, as she usually did. She always found it interesting and it suited her. She was a little nervous; if anything was likely to go wrong, this was the system for it.

OOC: I wouldn't mind it being my birthday.

Mtensc->Beaxon.

Once the ship was underway in its own little pocket universe Thenroy took to the ship's comms to issue a formal address to commemorate the start of their patrol

"Crew of the Sharshana: when we emerge back into realspace remember what our mission is. We are the shield of the Imperium protecting its citizens from the evil that exists between the stars. We are the sword of the Imperium striking down its enemies in all their forms. We are the guiding light of the Imperium, shining in the dark cold vacuum to keep the fires of civilization burning strong.

It may not always be exciting or glamorous but it is important. Every second of duty is important. We can never know when an attack will happen, when a catastrophe will erupt, when we will have to spring into action to be the sword or shield or guiding light for humanity.

I told you when you first embarked that serving onboard this ship was a privilege and that remains true to this day. You have been given the honor of making a small sacrifice to serve the greater good, for directly supporting the humanity's great Empire and keeping its light burning for another day.

The truth is that our enemies are not the aliens or the monsters or the pirates or the criminals. It is our duty to fight against oblivion itself. To call out into the dark void that today is not the day the light of civilization collapses, that the fires burning at the heart of humanity's great excursion into the vastness of space extinguish. Not today and with your hard work and dedication, not tomorrow either. That is all."

OOC: Oooo that's a bingo!
14:26, Today: Baron Thenroy Reziilka rolled 9 using 2d6+3.  +2 Lead +2 SOC -1 Unfriendly vs. DC 8.

Hrolf worked with Jacqueline and the engineering crew to see that the transition into Jump was made accurately.  The Jump itself was in the hands of Jacqueline and the accuracy of the Jump drives but the proper entering vector was always important.  After they transitioned into Jump Hrolf settled back into the standard routine.

"Jacqueline, can we work with the astrogation problems again some during this Jump?  I'd like to sharpen my navigation skills further."

"Oh! I, um, if you like" Jacqueline said, stumbling over her words. She hadn't expected that. Jump space mathematics weren't exactly a popular subject of discussion. "As long as you aren't better at astrogation than I am. I don't think there's any other jobs on this ship I can do." she added with a bit of a smile.

Hrolf shrugged.  "It's an area of weakness of mine.  I doubt if I'll ever really master it so your job is safe."  He smiled at the last. "And if you want we can practice piloting."

"Well, that's a relief. I don't want to have to hitchhike home" Jacqueline said, laughing. "Are you sure you want to take that risk of teaching me to pilot? I'm even odds to crash."

Re: Mtensc->Beaxon.

Hrolf chuckled. "Well, if you had me plotting the Jumps we'd be worse than walking home." He smiled at her joke.  "We can set up a couple of the control stations on the auxiliary bridge as simulators and pilot without risk of damage other than pride."

Re: Mtensc->Beaxon.

"Well, if you think I could be a decent pilot, I'll give the simulation a shot" Jacqueline said hesitantly. She wasn't very confident she could really fly well, but was willing to try it out.

Re: Mtensc->Beaxon.

Hrolf nodded slowly.  "It's all about confidence and a sense for what the ship can do.  You've got good spatial sense as an astrogator.  If you can work up the confidence you should make a good pilot.  The great ones, the aces though have something like great athletes that you just can't teach.  But they they are as rare as teeth on a hen."

Re: Mtensc->Beaxon.

"Well, I'm not overly blessed with confidence" Jaqueline admitted. "But I know more about piloting than hen physiology, so I guess that'll have to do to start."
