I think you may have a cultural problem as well.
In the UK if you where to say "Happy Armistice Day" you would get a really funny look of total confusion. You then get a look of oh that very odd thing to say. If the person was to say anything you would be asked "what so happy about millions of young men dying in muddy trenches in the great war?"
Don't get me wrong. We have the greatest respect for our armed forces in the uk and our very proud of them and what they have done. But it is a quit, somber respect. We remember they are one step away from a bullet in the head so we don't have to be. Most people in the uk love the fact they don't ever get to see a gun for real unless it is at an airport or on a shooting range.
I know a of lot people in USA find that an odd idea.
