Character Development: Sentinel
Hello! Since Sentinel is a robot (with human attachment), I imagine we can fold the benefit into some kind of cooling armor layer. And of course, since he's a robot, he'll need to be immune to a bunch of things... like biological stuff, certain mental conditions, but be vulnerable to hack attacks, EMPs and electrical damage. How would you like to model it?

Pain in the form of data indicating damage yes. I'm not sure about self-healing though. It might be best to go with whatever's most convenient.

I think I'll go with that. What about mentals, though? Might be better to have him not immune to mind-affecting stuff ("Well yes, his AI is so sophisticated that it can fully simulate a human mind... including the weaknesses.")

Time to gather my thoughts.

- Sentinel's focus is rescue work. The government has tanks, artillery and the army for use of deadly force - Sentinel is an attempt to see if they can consolidate all emergency response services into a superheroic mechanical unit. This means no direct offensive weapons. He has big strength, flight and forcefield projectors, which can all be used to hurt people, but that's not his main job.

- Sentinel is a robot. This means "immunity to Fortitude" which is blanket enough to work. No immunity to mind-affecting stuff (or, at the very least, contractual hero immunity like fear and so on) both to gel better with the others and also to represent the tremendous degree of sophistication which went into Sentinel's AI.

- To me, super robots are big and tough. This means a toughness-shifted defense and permanent Growth. Not too much though, maybe Growth 4 to go up one size rank.

- Sentinel is a protector. I take this to mean he will be throwing himself in harm's way regardless of the damage to himself. Picking up the interposition feats is mandatory. Similarly, I want him to have a Forcefield, largely used to project defensive screens or bubble forcefields. Forcefields are going to be discounted by being Distracting and requiring him to stay still when he uses them.

- In a nod to Big Hero 6 and also as a reflection of how you need to find people to save them, Sentinel will have Sensors, preferably ground-penetrating.

- As a rescue worker, Sentinel should have a medkit or some way to heal people. At the very least he needs diagnostics so he can tell the EMTs something other than "uhhhh he's not moving".

- Sentinel will be able to fly. Because superheroes fly, man.

- IIRC you can stick a feature into yourself for 1 point. Or maybe that's a GURPS thing. Either way, I'm going to put a music player and speakers into him so he can play Hans Zimmer music. Or the Guile theme.

- Last but not least, because EVERYONE needs to be good in a punch-up; possibly some kind of beam as an alternate power for the forcefield (maybe it's for digging and stuff? Or precision telekinesis? Who knows?)

I approve. The extra growth would seem a bit in the way of his rescue operations, but I can totally see it as his design is still in the beta testing phase. The team needs a "healer" and a extra tank, Sentinel, can fill both roles with these powers.

Hmm, on second thought Growth 4 IS a bit much. 30ft. is a 3 storey building and even 15ft. won't fit in most places. A really tall 7ft. then.

You also might want to coordinate a little with Cavalier as she is going with some medical training.

Not that it would be bad to have two healer types in the group. I just would not want you two to step on each other's toes.

Sentinel, I'm fine with the medical overlap if you are - we're a team of at least 12 at the moment, so having two people who can do some healing seems reasonable since I doubt we're always going to be working together. Besides, a big part of this particular hero job in the area is disaster relief, so more medics is better than not enough medics.

Not planning on any ranged attacks. Sentinel's main schtick is fun with Move Object and Selective Create: allowing air to enter but not water, allowing refugees to enter but not, say, waves of hydrochloric acid, clearing wreckage in an area (should pick up Precise for that), administering Medigas and so on. I need to add in some kind of powerful multispectral scanner: thermal, sonar, millimeter-wave mass-penetrating, field MRI/CAT/PET for diagnosis, maybe some kind of air sampling system.

Iffy things: I'm not sure if you can take Close on Area Create (representing him generating a theater forcefield to act as an emergency bridge, tunnel support, etc). I imagine it just centers it on him. I also don't know if it can MOVE with him; would be nice if it did so I can provide an advancing bulwark for people. His actual "combat" mode would be with his Move Object/Enhanced Strength and Forcefield/Create "retracted"; which would turn him into a toughness-shifted grappler.

Unfortunately, if Close really does center the Create on him, he won't be able to capture people effectively; they'll be trapped in the area with him, and destroying him is really the best solution since his personal forcefield is not active in the meantime. I'm alright with that since it emphasises how closely he needs to work with others.

I would say Flight 5. That is 60 miles per hour so as fast as a car on the highway. Going to Flight 6 and you are at 120 mph.

Also having Create Object move with him would be doable. Wouldn't help much if it was a bridge though. Or like you are guessing a force bubble. Also I would limited him to simple things. His objects are just extensions of his force field after all. He could make a rudimental roof support, but could not make a roof jack for instance. Walls, bubbles, bridges, and ramps? Sure. But he is not going to go full Green Lantern with this. Right?

The defenses part should be part of the +2 Strength and Toughness included in Growth IIRC, but  maybe Herolab factored it in? I dunno. Anyway, I'll think up an appropriate flight value and work on the senses and skills after this.
