For whatever reasons you have, you decided it was time to leave the Homelands, where your ancestors had lived since the dawn of time, where kingdoms and empires and civilizations rose and fell, and set out for a new life in the Southlands.  The Southlands… a sprawling world of wilderness and wild magic, thinly populated with the Elves who had settled there long ago, and the people of many races and cultures who were now following them.  Magic permeates this land like veins in blue cheese, but it's become part of the draw.  For years people have been arriving, and settling, not as invaders, but as allies, as the Elves cannot not tame the wild Southlands alone and have offered invitations.

Maybe you want to help them.
Maybe you just want a new life in a new place.

Opportunity called.

And you answered the call.

This is a game for new characters, starting at 1st level and working up.  We will use the standard Point Buy system for 5e, with 27 points.  Characters should be "by the book" (And with initial characters, let's keep it to the basic books), as it is my first test of 5e.  Characters should have Good alignments, this is to give some common adventure plot motives, promote party cohesion, and avoid the old "I'm really a nice person but I love role playing and I am role playing a jerk" trap.


Beginners are welcome, my usual style is rules light, but plenty of GM information available.

Do not start with a horse or any large animal companion.  You will not need it at first, or even want it.  You probably wouldn't have brought it on a long sea voyage anyway.
