Chapter 1: The Ruins of Fallen Vigils
The ruins team parts was with their recently gained allies that are seeking out Shard and make their way to the north gates of the city. There, they find a female figure in a gray cloak and a form-fitting bodysuit made of silk woven into armor. A rare variation of armor most seen among those who prefer to wear loose clothing over their armor or to show off their figure. And the figure in that particular set is as full and beautiful as you'd expect of an agent of a courtesan. Curvaceous and buxom, but with a clear athleticism to it. Her face is concealed by a dark, veil-like shawl.

She is minding some horses, enough to supply the party with mounts to ride out to the ruins, and the groups' assumption that this is Widowkiss are proven correct with she signals to the group.

Chapter 1: The Ruins of Fallen Vigils
"Greetings. You're the folks that helped at the tavern if I'm not mistaken. Morgan told me to expect you and ready some horses. You may call me Widowkiss. Normally I prefer more urban forays but given these ruins were apparently a fortress it shouldn't be too dissimilar. My talents lend towards healing and enchantments, though I am no slouch in infiltration. Hard skills to not find a use for regardless of location."

The woman bows slightly, the folds of her cloak revealing that she is carrying a whip on her hip. Her belt buckle is a holy symbol of Calistria.

Suiri returns the bow and mounts the sturdiest looking horse, "I'm Suiri. Let's make with the pleasantries on the way. Those people have a headstart and we've no idea how nefarious their goals are."

Gath mounts as well, "Gath is the name. I agree, let's get out there as quick as possible. I'll lead the way."

"Yep, we need to ride quickly. Thank you for the horses Widowkiss." Don Esteban said, hopping in the saddle like he was born to ride.

Chapter 1: The Ruins of Fallen Vigils
The team heads out on their provided stress, making good pace down the road and into the wilderness of the forests north of town, reaching what could easily be mistaken for a cave if not for the mostly destroyed stone pillars nearby that have been almost entirely taken by the foliage.

It was almost a half day trek there and given the higher temperature and dryer plant life you can guess the region is starting to thin out vegetation-wise as it nears the desert.

There are plenty of signs of recent crossing here as well as blood drips leading to the cave.

A pair of men come out, the taller of the two nodding to Gath, "Hail. Gath, my friend. Good to see you could join us. With friends to boot."

"Everyone, this is Donny Brooks and Rogger Tumnas he motions to the tall one and the other in turn. The pair look similar enough to be cousins.

""Any information you haven't sent already boys or are we just cracking on?"

Don Esteban looked the two over, nodding in welcome. "Welcome." he said, making introductions. Looking at the blood splatters, gestured towards the cave. "What can you tell us?"

Chapter 1: The Ruins of Fallen Vigils
The taller one named Donny speaks up again, "Got a bit we couldn't send. The wounded fella had himself four guards and didn't seem that bothered with having some of his entrails peeking out to say 'ello. He was barely wrapped up. Far as we can tell, the wounded man is a mage likely a cleric from his armor and vestments. What god I don't know. I don't recognize the symbol."

He pulls out a scrap of paper with a crudely drawn depiction of a black pearl held in a crustacean claw.

"Had two heavy armor types, can't tell if they were paladin er not. No symbols, but they were clearly warriors not casters. Third of his guards was lightly armored with a bow and longsword and a buckler, no tellin' what he was but he was likely a switch-hitter. Fourth was kinda out of place. Likely a sorceress or warlock, under her cloak she was barely wearin' anythin' and she was right gorgeous. If she weren't so obviously up to no good I'd be willing to have my guts out to share a bed with her." he chuckles.

"She's the troublemaker I wager. She was the only one of 'em with a totally lucid expression. The rest looked so focused on the task it weren't right."

"Enchantment or possession perhaps? If they are infected, she might have some control over the creatures. If they are infected what could they want out of an old elven bastion used against the drow?"

Suiri muses over the information.

Chapter 1: The Ruins of Fallen Vigils
The party proceeds down a long flight of stairs that turns in a square spiral about four times before it stops at a large set of 10ft wide stone doors that have been left open. The trail of blood leads straight through the room on the other side, which is a relatively small 50x70 ft entry chamber that doesn't seem to have anything of note in it. Not shocking, as you are only about 100ft underground at this point. Looters would have long gone at least this far in. The whole place is made of what looks like marble.

The only door proceeding forward is notably also 10ft wide and this time is held open by a piton. Clearly the actual security of the the place starts here, and the door would have otherwise shut behind the people ahead of you.

Moving up to that door to scope it out, you see the way goes forward about 10ft before turning left, and just around the corner you can see a man-sized golem impaled and stuck to the wall with a spear. Which is midly intimidating as that wall it's pinned to is also marble.

You hear a shuffling and slightly grinding noise coming from further in. Like one something in armor or made of metal dragging its foot.

Don Esteban looked over the golem and then towards the others. "Any idea what this is?" he asked, visibly impressed by whomever impaled it to a marble wall.

Chapter 1: The Ruins of Fallen Vigils
"Some kind of basic guard construct. You see similar stuff in ancient ruins used for war made by races known for magic. Like this one." Gath whispers back, "I'm going to guess that the group fought their way through and left one hobbled. We might want to be careful passing that impaled one. If that shambling is from one that's just damaged, it might have reactivated after going down, so that impaled one might as well."
