1.1 A Cycle Begins
The room sits silent after Nadia's claim that today is in fact three days earlier than the group remembers it being. As if the calendar weren't enough evidence, there is also the fact that Silas's other two household slaves agree that today is Moonday the twentieth. At the revelation, other details begin to fit as well. It lines up with the day that Morgan had not done her obedience, and some of the people at the temple were having conversations that felt eerily familiar. A runner had shown up to tell Sumta that he had a fight scheduled for Fireday, which would normally happen well before the day before the fight. Other conversations might seem familiar to those who had been in the area that day.

Despite the enormity of the revelation Marili continues to nibble at her meal - it was rare that she got anything quite this extravagant and time shenanigans or not she was going to enjoy it, especially now that there seemed o be the looming possibility that it would be her last decent meal.

"Moon. So it was relevant." She says, pondering as she chews then swallows. "If it is Moonday, then we have, hmm, about three days? Goodness that's not very long..." She goes quet and seems to be counting something on her fingers as she mutters ideas and questions while trying to make sense of the news and not flail about with all the unsaid implications of a potential end-of-the-world time loop.

Abasi sat quietly in one of the chairs in the room, barely eating any of the food before him as he slowly processed this revelation. It was only after Marili broke the silence that he spoke. "Three days to do what, exactly? stave off the end of our world? How, when we know nothing but a rough date?"

Sumta was similarly disinclined to pass up good food. "Anybody can get away with one lucky bet. Two, and they keep an eye on you as a likely diviner, especially if you're not a regular. So, if this really is a cycle, I'm going to find my lucky bet, and I'm going to find a backup for the second day." He shrugged, taking another bite. "If it's a cycle, the money will be useful for all sorts of things. If it's not a cycle, what can we accomplish in just three days? We don't even know what happens."

The gnoll suddenly stopped, then crossed his arms. His face sank into a scowl. "Hold on. No, this doesn't make any sense! The gladiators try to keep an ear out for big bets, because it might be from a diviner making their move. They've got the…" Sumta waved a hand, looking for the word. "The delay. There's a delay between betting closing and the match starting, because even petty mages can do short peeks. But I've heard they just have to deal with the big stuff. If the world ends in three days, why isn't every diviner with the big stuff freaking out?"

1.1 A Cycle Begins
It is around this point that a knock on the door is heard and Morgan is let into the house, striding gracefully into the room with a box of crumpets. With her of course is Issynia, looking cleaned up and pampered as if the pair had had a day at a spa. Placing the box down, the courtesan looks a little upset.

"I take it from the snipets I overheard on my way in that you folks have noticed it too? Issynia and I ran into someone she had met for the first time days ago and had healed of an injury. He was injured the same way and didn't know her. Throughout the shops there are people I know doing their once weekly shopping trip who can't afford to shop more than once a week. At the temple a few of my peers were heading out, probably on a mission they went out on three days ago for me. The cycle was a time loop after all, right?"

That last bit doesn't have any sense of 'I told you so' in it.

Issynia follows behind Morgan, wearing just plain clothes, her armor and arms nowhere to be seen. She looks unwound, as friendly as before but without the tension. She presents a bottle of dessert wine - magically chilled - to Silas for his inspection.

"Other than we six and Amarra, no one else appears to remember the rest of the week," she adds to Morgan's comments. "Should we not inform the proper authorities, enlist aid? Certainly we seven are not sufficient to address whatever this is?"

"Seven? But there are… ah, you are counting the camel." Sumta said, confused for a moment. "But, that is very funny! Tell me, what do you think will happen? I can tell you what I think will happen. Perhaps we can even test it and see who is right!" He leaned back in his chair, tilting his head back as if reciting a story. " 'Honorable Zephyr Guard of the great city of Katapesh, the world will end in three days! We know, because we were there.' The honorable Zephyr Guard will beat you for wasting a guard's time. Or how do you think civilization treats the mad? 'Honorable Zephyr Guard of the great city of Katapesh, I can prove it! I have knowledge of these three days that I couldn't have otherwise!' The honorable Zephyr Guard will take you before a guild master, or perhaps even one of the Pactmasters, and they will use you to make money. Or how do you think civilization treats those who are different?"

"That last part still entails that they would believe you know of the future and thus believe that the world will end. You cannot mean to suggest that they would believe some of the foresight and not all of it. If a man came into this room and told you that he could see the future and you are going to die and proves it beyond doubt, would you simply ignore the warning and die making money? Even if we were enslaved, better a slave for the supremely exploitable three days of the future we have than all of us and more dead at the end of it."

"You do make decent points otherwise however. It would be a hard case to make at the moment. I for one do not have much I could use as proof. At least not undeniable. I mostly deal in secrets and sex after all."

"Does anyone have any ideas? For the moment we have nothing to go on. I could try and do some digging for information and rumors. There's also libraries and magical schools where some research could be done. Maybe some adventurous types know something? I'm open to other ideas."

Tentatively Marili raises a hand. "I have some ideas. Well, theories. Presumptions at best-oh, ahm, hmm." She holds up a finger and takes a moment to collect her thoughts.

"Firstly, hello, I am Marili, and some thoughts I've had - The, uh, simulacrum? It has to be powerful enough to ignore the world ending - not many beings except perhaps the gods can do that. It might be a servitor or similar for Nethys or Pharasma or, well, any of them, I guess?"

She takes a breath.

"Even if its not, things like that have been known to be literal as well as metaphorical - it's possible that the 'cycle' and 'gears' are real, just...beyond us." She shrugs, but its the best explanation she can currently put together.

"It is also possible that the world isn't properly ending, and this loop - if it is a loop - is some test. Or experiment. Or...whatever else it could be."
