There sure are! I am playing a Chorister by the name of Donovan. He has some type of connection which this concept of a Celestial Soldier (ie Angel?) from which he experiences all types of nightmares and hellish visions but he is a good guy!

Still working through how his paradigm and magic will work but that is the fun part!

Nice to meet you, Donovan.

I play Michael, a professional athlete who suffered a career-ending injury and reinvented himself as an elite fitness guru.

In magical circles, he is Draiglas, connected to the Druids of the Never-Ending Vine in the UK.

Yes! Hello! I'm playing Kaitlyn.

By day, she teaches low-level university courses in fringe and computer sciences at whatever local college one goes to when one is too poor, too lazy, or too dumb to get into a good school.

By night (but not too late at night, girl need her beauty sleep and there's classes to teach), she's a Virtual Adept, hacking away at the informational substructure of reality in order to drag everybody, kicking and screaming if necessary, into the promised land. Or something. She's still workshopping the mission statement. She'll get there eventually.

Welcome Kaitlyn!

If John Constantine and John Wick had a baby that would be Donovan.

;)

No, he is not nearly so cool as all of that but that is the shorthand that I am using to explain my newest weirdest M20 experiment.

Hah! Love it! I'd never thought of it that way. Having just rewatched all of Parks and Rec, I think Michael is a magical version of Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe's character).

Thanks!

And yeah, right?  Quite the setup.

VA hacker and professor, a Chorister, a former pro-athlete turned druid, another Adept? A Hermetic, and a Dreamspeaker.

There's a "...walk into a bar" joke here somewhere, I'm sure of it.

Sera's pretty easy to get along with, as long as you can get past the part where she's a little... Kaylee meets Drusilla. But she does great art and if anyone likes tattoos, she's a hella in-demand tattoo artist. :D

That's quite possible!  It would make for an easy connection, too.

Sera is especially fond of fantastic and mythological imagery if that's your jam, though she'll draw whatever the client wants.  That sounds like a great starting point!

Cool! What about him having an angelic piece somewhere prominent, like on his front torso (chest and stomach) that he has been having work done.

He would be one of those annoying customers who is freakishly obsessed with minor details-but outside of the art piece he is a nice guy. Tips well and commissions work in segments. Doesn't seem to be too affluent.

Sounds excellent to me!

Black and white or color?

Pec(s) or ribs?

How many hours and trips have they spent chatting with one another?

Does he prefer the tattoo gun or traditional Japanese irezumi?

Re: The Thoughts and Exchanges of the Mages of Philadelphia
Sweet.

Donovan is a color guy, and the art will be pretty big starting at the top of his pecs and going down just pass his "no no zone"

I think we may have a good outline of the piece down with some color starting. Let's say about 30 hours in (5 six hour sessions). With some details and color going into the fiery feathers of the angel wings.

Oh and a tattoo gun.

:)

Sure seems like an interesting menagerie here. Certainly one or more "walks into a bar" jokes could be said about them... and they will. Maybe for the worse - you know, words have power, and all that.

Dan, or Imp, depending on whether you find him in meatspace or through the Web (or really, depending on his particular inclinations at the time) is a sort of bridge-the-gap between more traditional ways of working the Art and the hypertech of Adepts, which mostly means he can annoy two different subset of willworkers with the same practice. His view of things leans towards an focus on the performative powers of speech and symbols, so Serafina's art would certainly calls his attention.

Ok, I had no clue that Mage 20 would generate so many RTJs.
I have closed off the RTJ.
The cabal or grouping of mages/willworkers of Philadelphia is now complete.
Will be working on the Book of Shadows (NPC roster for each PC - none personalities and entities the PC knows pre  start of the chronicle)
I am running intro threads and it will lead to meetings for sure.
I think that we have a nifty group that can easily weave back stories together.
Now hopefully I can keep my end of the bargain and inspire you all.
Let's do this!

Re: The Thoughts and Exchanges of the Mages of Philadelphia
Hello everyone.  I'm playing Cathleen O'Neil, your second Verbena and looking forward to getting to know all of you, especially Draiglas.  It sounds as if we may have a few things in common.

If any of your characters use ritual robes or fashion as a foci, we may have interacted before.  Cathleen is becoming well known in select circles as a specialty seamstress, sewing and selling custom garments for individuals who need something a bit different: ceremonial robes, outfits for members of ultraothadox religions, historical reproductions for re-enactors and performers, stage costumes, and so on.

If necessary, Cathleen can make exactly what you need: even to the point of spinning the thread and weaving the cloth.  Though, that adds to both to the time needed to create the outfit and significantly to the cost.

I would love to have a connection to Penelope, I would like Donovan to learn Spanish perhaps he could be learning from Penelope (or another language that Penelope knows). When Donovan isn't drinking his pain, he is feeding the poor and "aiding" in the sick.

For anyone else looking for connections.

Sera does tattoos, as I've already mentioned.  If you know her more from magic, then you know she's mostly about spotting the places in the city which require maintenance, so to speak. Sort of like spiritual feng shui. So you can often see her doing strange or seemingly-inconsequential things, like moving a trash can or talking to a lamp post and just smoothing things over with the Penumbra.

Re: The Thoughts and Exchanges of the Mages of Philadelphia
Cathleen is a fairly new arrival to the city.  She's been here about a month.  Much of that time has been taken up with getting moved in and exploring the city.

She is from a small town in the Appalachians and has no streetwise.  So, she could have easily managed to get herself into a bit of trouble or even just lost if someone wants to play or to have played white knight.

Yeah, I think that it's probably simpler if we start from that premise.  Certainly Donovan and Penelope (with whom I've already got some connection) are welcome to know that, but I figure it's probably awesome if we have any experience with one another under our belts already.

Re: The Thoughts and Exchanges of the Mages of Philadelphia
Yeah, knowing that each other is a mage would make things a lot simpler... and since everyone is from one of the Traditions, that seems to make sense.

I guess I also have a possibility of connection with Penelope. As said before, languages and language games are quite big on how Dan sees the world, and he also has a soft spot for the disenfranchised and those treated bad by the powers that be.

Nice to see some Portuguese speakers here. Is that solely a character thing, or do you both also speak Portuguese in our "real" and messed up world?

Should be finished throughout the weekend.
As as with the other that have gotten their book of shadows, will open up a thread to get to know your PCs and eventually I swear to the first gathering of the Cabal :)

Thank you for your continued patience.

Hope the tone of the game for those that have started threads is ok.
