Also, good to know that I'll have someone to help protect me from the dread gazebo. :)

Great questions, I'll see if I can fill in some blanks. Basically Traveler is sent back the eve of the destruction of the Mask Underground in a future where masks are hunted under a fascist regime headed by a supervillain. The Underground is sort of the last bit of resistance to the world order. So every hero of this time, fails to save the world from the supervillain that actually succeeds in installing himself into a position of world power. His name is Mustang Jack, one evil sonuva-B.
At this point Aaron doesn't remember how he does it specifically but he knows that the team is part of the solution. Someone on the team sends him back from the future, the last person left.
In the previous timeline, if we decide to go with the civil rights march, the people in the crowd and a civil rights activist leader die. Leading to some series of events. So now that things are patched up there, he's simply trying to figure out how to return home or check the headwinds from there at least. To put it to the Back to the Future analogy, he's looking for Marty's future newspaper or else the set-up with the lightning bolt to send him home.
That seems like the perfect setup for him to find out that he's done and now his continued presence is doing harm or maybe that the work is still needing done, something still changes everything.
Hope that helps decide if you want to pursue this direction and tie in to the Beacon playbook.

player, 8 posts The Beacon Mon 7 Sep 2020 at 06:55 | Re: Character CreationWhile filling in my background questions, I've created a teacher as her "person who thinks she shouldn't be a superhero". The teacher thinks all superheroes have flashy powers, and those without powers are 'dumb superhero groupies'. I think it works whether or not the teacher knows of her superhero identity: bad mouthing the hero to their secret ID (or vice versa) is a common trope :)

player, 9 posts Mon 7 Sep 2020 at 13:39 | Re: Character CreationI like the idea that Traveler thinks he's fixed the future now. Great seed for dramatic disappointment when it starts looking like this was just the beginning. Every time-traveling hero needs to discover that they've only made things worse before they can really make it better.
I've mostly got my character done.
I'm giving influence Shade. You and your mentor showed up at the direction of a member of the Exemplars, Mr. Psypher, to pick up Echo when she made her escape. You were her first touchstone with the outside world after that.
For relationships, Echo tries to hang out with Kick Chick so she can learn about being a normal teenager, and she hurt Hound with her powers when she first came to school and didn't have a good handle on her temper yet.
As for costumes, I've decide to go atypical. Echo doesn't use a costume because the combination of her psionic aura (cloaked in power) and the mental static she creates scrambles her appearance as a low level telepathic effect. Definitely a problem if we're ever fighting on camera.

Hound
player, 10 posts Mon 7 Sep 2020 at 14:23 | Re: Character CreationI'm still dithering with a lot of my character sheet, and I apologize for that. Some things, though:
- Hound, as the picture right over there <--- Looks psychadelically black-light colorful.. when she has her powers up. Otherwise, she's just a black girl. It leads to a secret identity -of sorts-, and it's something she's kind-of nervous about.
- I've got two ideas for where the sanctuary came from, and I'd like to bounce the ideas off of y'all. One is that the Master of the Hunt gave it to me; a place to relax and 'wait' for him. It makes it a little more creepy, but easily more mystically aligned. The other possibility is that some other magic-based superhero (adult) gave it to Hound as a place to -hide- from the Master of the Hunt, though they admitted it wouldn't be good for that for very long. Either way, I want to take the art / music / food option so we can all actually hang out there.
- Shade's got my 'doom secret' from my relationships. Number two is 'You’d love to kiss ________________ before your doom comes' - I seriously don't want to push that on a player who would be uncomfortable with it, or who wouldn't want that tension. So, who's up for a little infatuation by the fae-altered student athlete?

It wouldn't bother me, but it might also be odd given that we already have the connection that I hurt you with my powers. Also, Echo is probably not the kind of person anyone should be pining after . . .

We can take it to the PMs.
After that, I think my character is done until I actually figure out his personality, lol.

I don’t, but I have gadgets which I would assume include a car or a bike.

For my relationships, I'm keeping an eye on Echo for my mentor. And I've decided to go with Kick Chick and me teaming up a few times beforehand. Not that Shade and I haven't teamed up, but it was probably more Exemplars business than willingly hanging out.
Also, choosing the resources my mentor gave to me. Communicators are one. Would false identities be worth it, in terms of getting everyone into school all official like? Otherwise, thinking maybe badges of authority or one of the labs?

Sounds good.
I don’t think false IDs is that great. Probably the badges of authority would be better. That way we have some clout to tell the cops to “move and we’ll take care of it”. A lab would be good for my guy. I’ve been figuring out how to do detective stuff without a super computer, but then I remembered I made Shadow and Dusk pulp detectives, so we just beat feet, wear out shoes, hit the streets and shake stuff up, lol.
