Aramanx

Aramanx is a high-population garden world with a billion or more sophonts in population size, a near-ideal utopian environment conducive to most sophonts. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Aramis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Aramanx, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the feifdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

Astrography & Planetology
It is located within the Towers Cluster.

The planet is an average sized world with a thin atmosphere; 70% of its surface is covered by water. The five major continents include a varied, but generally rugged terrain which has further encouraged the world's characteristic balkanization. [2]

In addition to Aramanx Startown, other major settlements on Aramanx include Ginsberg, Kirshush, Uurii Town, Bachburg, Udula, and Rilagum.

"Thank you for your hospitality and your quick delivery of us and our cargo here. You've saved me a bundle of credits and time! The others were trying to keep me out of this subsector, they don't like competition."

"In the future, you have a friend in Oberlindes Line, perhaps we can be of help to each other in the future, cargos and contracts and such. Just let me know"

He gives you his personal contact information along with that of his number 2 man, Arrlanroughl.

While they were in the jump space, Danila inquired Marc hault-Oberlindes why exactly Aramanx is the Amber Zone.

2Nerull:
Retroactively we had visited Carsten and refueled there, right? Danila would have ordered 40 tons of refined fuel and 40 tons of unrefined fuel.

In reply to Danila (msg # 3):

Yes, you were jumping through Carsten.

Aramanx was colonized in the 400s by settlers from Junidy (Spinward Marches 3202). The initial colonists were a utopian group who attempted to eliminate warfare by returning man to a simpler state of existence. The technology required to construct fusion power plants, gravitic drives, and nuclear bombs was renounced. leaving the colonists at TL–6.

As later generations spread out across the planet, schisms developed and war was reintroduced: gradually, under the pressures of nationalism, all of the old beliefs died except for the traditional hostility to new technology. Now even that is fading as off world contact begins to make high technology the price of national survival, although a large segment of the population in every nation remains hostile to the new ways (and to the off worlders who bring them). [2]

Akerut has offices and facilities at the starport.

In 1105 Oberlindes Lines was in the process of transferring their main offices from Paya (Spinward Marches 2509). [3]

Aramanx was a source of bitter contention between antebellum period megacorporations Ling-Standard Products and Sternmetal Horizons. Each company backed a particular faction that then proceeded to wage a civil war in the period immediately before the beginning of the Fifth Frontier War. The conflict was temporarily postponed by the Zhodani, and then again by Vargr invasions of 1118-19, but resumed in 1122.

The Collapse saw the corporations withdraw their support, and the previously Ling Standard backed nation of Lanax seized the initiative and overwhelm its opposition. Aramanx was originally settled by pacifists from Deneb Sector, and the world has reverted back to its original plan; weapons of any kind are banned from the surface.

Current year is 1105.

As usual now, Gvoudzon contacts the staport's master office, and asks questions about the Wolblutn : when did it arrive? When did it leave? Where for? What was it's cargo declaration? Has there been any attack on ships a few days before or after its passage...?

Frederick sold the wine for 1 875 000 credits! Of which 1 087 500 were sent back to Zila to Gustav. The rest were transferred to the Shadow Fund.
Commodity trade also netted some good income.

Carver spends some time getting the Harrier presentable for service, and checking that the anola enclosure will keep the critters in - and any nosy maintenance workers out.  He felt a little nervous, if what they'd heard about the price researchers would pay for them were true.

What kind of ship is Wolblutn? he asked Gvoudzon. We can't keep up with anything that can do a real jump-2. But they might stay in port somewhere, I guess. Or turn back.

This is a fantastic site! :) It even provides fully-fledged NPC passengers for every destination!  The DM should be inspired by this ;)

And btw...  in Desired Goods for Aramanx, I see "Live Animals: 150.0%" This is the place to sell the Anolas!

Re: Aramanx

Frederick informed the team:
- While I was selling the wine I had been contacted by a wealthy connoisseur who wishes to obtain a quantity of special "Zilan eiswein". The patron wants 100 bottles within 10 weeks and is willing to pay up to Cr. 2,500 per bottle upon delivery for top quality vintage. He will not pay if delivery is late.

In reply to Frederick Vicouna (msg # 13):

- We can generate a better profit per jump on speculative trading, - Danila commented. - So I wouldn't recommend going to Zila for that specific request, but if we circumstantially get to Zila in the next few weeks, we should use the opportunity of course.

Re: Aramanx

"What is eiswein, anyhow?" Carver asks. "There must be some trick to it, or anyone could just pop some fruit in a freezer. And if it's a luxury thing, you probably need a brand name or vintage or something. But if faking it is an option, we can give it a try."

"It was like a million for the whole group to a researcher. We could check to see if there are any on the planet. But there might be trouble if we go back to Pysadi without them," he tells Gvoudzon.

"Zila's the wrong way, if my guess is correct. The computers are still crunching on our encrypted data, but all the signs point to it relating to the Vargr and they're the other way. Combine that with the Horizon Itinerary and we're looking at a more coreward route. Based on the information Guv gathered, we're not far behind Wolbutn so even if she's not faster than us, she's taking at least as much time in each system, so there must be something for it on each of the stops. Possibly the reason she turned to piracy is that she couldn't achieve whatever she needed to in time without it. From all reports, Bannerji isn't constitutionally opposed to such behavior."

- I thought a little and came to the conclusion that we have a somewhat deeper problem with the Shadow Fund than it seemed at first. In the current situation with the Shadow Fund, it turns out that 5 team members will buy 80% of the shares. And this is OK as long as the Shadow Fund is spent on speculative trading. However, let's imagine that we entered into a battle with the pirates, and the whole team, risking their lives and showing miracles of courage, captured a prize worth 100 million. If we add these 100 million to the Shadow Fund, it turns out that the five main shareholders will receive 80 million, and the other five members of the team only 20, which is contrary to my socialist nature: the risk of a battle shared by the crew is not proportional to the Shadow Fund sharing.

To solve this problem of the Shadow Fund, inherited from the previous team, I propose to distinguish three entities:
1) "March Harrier Subsidized Merchant" is what the Operating Fund is about. Run by some kind of Board of Directors that doesn't care what we're doing here as long as the ship is regularly making a profit.
2) "March Harrier Trading Trust" - the investments of the ship's crew members are directed to speculative trading, each member of the crew receives a share of the profit in proportion to the investment.
3) "March Harrier Adventuring Company" - incidental income of the team received as a result of the actions outside of trade or transport operations. Each member of the crew has one share (the captain has two shares if we follow the tradition of buccaneers); these shares cannot be bought, sold or exchanged.

There is some gray area between MHTT and MHAC. For example, the sale of Gustav's wine, although technically a trading operation, but in my opinion should refer to MHAC.

What do you think?
