We have to sort out few things.
If I remember correctly we were given the small 17 t stealthy craft Chameleon and the heavily armed 400 t ship Hunter/Trader. On the recon mission only Chameleon can fly, because Hunter/Trader is not stealthy. At the current moment I assume Smash is piloting Chameleon, Danila is on Chameleon too as a passenger, but Gvou and Joonan can only operate guns on Hunter/Trader - since Chameleon has a fixed mount only - and the Hunter/Trader is most probably stationary in the spaceport right now. Unless all of us are passengers aboard Chameleon.

If I remember correctly again, Danila proposed to find Wolblutn, land nearby, walk by feet and assault Wolblutn commando-style.

Good thing I made it to the gunnery deck before Gvou then…I wonder what he’s aiming at the other ship… (O.o);

I think the captain wisely states we need their sensors to be blinded. What would happen if the commando party is detected [it is always detected... this is job for people who all have +2 in Stealth] by our target in this near-war zone (IIRC) and the ship just leaves ? :/

Sure we must try to blind them.
How soon a ship could take off depends on how hot is its reactor and power system. They are keeping low profile and they have been doing that for quite some time already, so I expect their systems are cold and will require some decent time to steam up. Unless they saw Chameleon coming, I gonna catch them with their pants off ;)

But my message was not about that, but about clarifying where we all are. Are we all together on Chameleon or do we have a backup plan (Hunter/Trader crewed in case interception is needed)?

If Alyx is capable to pilot a small craft that would be nice to leave him as a pilot on Chameleon while the boarding team is, well, boarding (I assume Smash will join the boarding team). However, few more spare hands in combat are always helpful even if they don't shoot (watching flanks, first aid, comms/sensors, etc.). So you decide.

Let's consider that the March Harrier is not on the spaceport, but not too close to the Wolblutn either. It is hidden from detection, with passive sensors. It can be brought to the scene, guns blazing, in a couple of minutes.

Glad to be aboard, looking forward to being part of the crew. This looks to be a lot of fun.

I'm looking closely to find a suitable niche but I'm thinking I'll be a smuggler type with some scientific background. I haven't gotten that deep into character creation quite yet so who knows.

I believe I have a character. The complete character sheet along with term summaries and whatnot is in the character description, let me know how it clashes with the current reality and we'll just kinda work through it.

Would anybody like to do some retroactive connections?

Some potential hooks:
-This last term, I was involved in an altercation with pirates in which the ship I was on was destroyed.
-3 terms ago, we were bankrupted by a rival trading group
-6 terms ago I was in college, participating in a movement.

Re: OOC (2)

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm really interested to know the context behind our current situation.

So far, i have this: You guys were hired by some big wigs on the planet to track down Bannerji, a smugger and now murderer who destroyed a prospector ship. You tracked them to their landing site, took over their ship, and now are waiting for Bannerji and his enterage to ambush and capture/kill them.

Is that about right?

From my analysis, either Teddy or Carver need to go from the Chameleon to the March Harrier before we can all leave (If I'm to understand tertiary qualifications as 0 skills).

If this is feasible, I think we can just say it happens on the way without further ado.

To be clear, I was on the Wolblutn still and not the Chameleon. I didn't just wiggle into the hatch directly in front of Smash Glee on the Chameleon bridge. It was my assumption that the crew locked me in the bridge, bound and without my weapons.

I'm gonna run with the assumption that I spoofed the signal too well and it looked like it was coming from the Chameleon's Comm signature and that Smash was keeping his eye on Wolblutn's internal sensor feed, if that alright with all of you. That way we don't have to retcon anything and theres a big weird comedy of errors thing going on.

Hi everyone, it appears I've turned up just at the right time! I'm looking forward to playing.

Don't worry about the gun-bunny avatar, Dixon's a nice guy of sorts.

I'll just do a major flick through of the last threads to get an idea of the immediate past so I can meet up.

Dixon is a security guy but he's also a down to earth(s) negotiator; he's much happier to see things run smoothly with a little greasing of palms or favours returned than blazing weapons - although that's also a skill of his. His specialty is ship security both on-planet and off-planet with a sideline in damage control.

Personality-wise he's easy going, reliable and utterly corrupt - just like a 'good' CorpSec should be.

In PbP games it's considered polite to answer all questions, even in the negative.

I've been running these games for over twenty years and have had up to twenty players going and interaction is the only things that make these things work. If you can't be bothered to answer another player you can't be bothered to make the game work.

I wouldn't call it a lack of patience but rather an understanding of how these fail.

Well, Joonan quitting is sad. Gvoudzon and him had developed common background, and relationships... that does not encourage me to establish links with D. Lyshenko... ;'(

Here's how I see rpol-ing, without having been there 20 years:
- participate in lots of games, so when one game is slow, the other are still going
- for the same reason, a game is not dead which can eternal lie - it's only asleep until some players and a DM reignite the fire...
- Don't quit a game in which you want to take part

Nerull:
No one responded to  Dixon except me, he quit. We're slow, so Joonan quit. Do we trudge on?

I see what you're doing here, Nerull! ;) You'd like to sneak out of the game you started! Except as the GM, that would be seen ;)

Let me help you out keep the rhythm. Maybe the other players were too subtle with their roleplay and such. Maybe we should rephrase our statements so that you just have to answer by yes or no.

1. The PCs visit the Count and offer him that they are willing to find the Mammoth if the count sponsors them with the new hunter/trader ship. After all, we're on a Far Trader that isn't even ours, and the contract prohibits us to err in the Vargr reaches.

Does the Count answer yes, or does he say nay?

We're playing a scenario named "the Traveller Adventure". What does the scenario say? :)

Re: OOC (2)

This game keeps popping up, so I’m not officially out until the GM releases me from my characters. :D

That said, my frustrations with this game is mainly related to lack of direction.

You folks planned for a new ship and entire month and a half. The story was suspended, then we get back on track, get the encounter with Banerji’s crew, take over the ship, some really interesting RP — while Joonan and Gvou — are stuck god knows where away from all the action (which I didn’t mind so much since I had another character to fall on); we then weave in Juraj as he tries to take the ship from under us... Then suddenly the encounter is over and the mission is done, with no explanation or denouement. Suddenly we’re in front of Lord so and so, the momentum diffused to the four winds.

Joonan was hired on as a gunner — who has yet to shoot a single thing might I add — then we get another player and I assume everyone was shell-shocked from the sudden change in direction that no one answered him as we were about to hit another directionless month as we rehashed whether to take the new ship, the captured ship, or go back to the business we were hired to do.

As palyers recounting a story, we need story hooks. Not opportunities. We can have anything we want, the ships we want, but at the end of the day, we need plot hooks, and not sit down debating where to go next.

Re: OOC (2)

I realize that the Game has stalled. When I noticed activity I almost didn't want to respond. But despite the very long pauses I have enjoyed the roleplaying with the dedicated individuals who have stuck despite those long pauses.

I was here at the the beginning when our GM  was a fellow player on another Traveller when that GM started to ghost his own game. It was an ambitious concept in which the GM was planning to with a regular campaign combined with use of the 'Dynasty' supplement. I was looking forward to see how it would play out but the game faded to black before the character could begin their Dynasty phase of the game.

That wasn't the first game which I had the GM fade out on their game but I understand that shit happens. Real life problems can overwhelm one to the point that they have little or no time for their game. Sometimes the muse that drove them to create a fascinating game world just leaves them and just figure out a way for the story to continue.

I would love nothing more for the story to continue cause I love the current cast of characters, even Gvoudzon the crazy and lovable Varg that drives the Captain to distraction. But If like the GM before him he have difficultly that Nerull can let us know.

If it seems to just a temporary case of writer's block we can hold out for a bit longer. If you need more suggestions the group would be willing to help on setting a new direction we can go from there.

If the GM feels the current choices being laid out for him is not to his liking would like to propose a new direction let us know. The worse thing that could happen is that we say no and we can part on good terms rather than the game just stopping with no explanation.

The GM should be having fun as well as the player. I certainly we can restart this game but if we can't I want the GM and everyone one the cast who are still here that appreciated the game he had up to this point and hope to meet you in other games

C'mon guys. Everything is in order with our Gamemaster and with the game, it is we the players who need to move forward a little more actively. Not only to talk flowery and not only to express wishes, but to declare actions that the Gamemaster could respond to. As far as I can see, Nerull always reacts if we declare an ACTION, and not just chatting. In my opinion, the Gamemaster is still waiting for us that one of us will finally announce that he is going to the count and putting forward our offer to the count. Well well, look how the action-reaction works perfectly : nearly one week without progress.. our gamemaster really is waiting for us players to state actions, not roleplay ;)
So; Lt. Arthur McMickles asked "Can you arrange the March Harrier be sent back to it's owners?"

Nerull is waiting for an answer ; I suggest it be a "Yes, we can, and I'll do it", in descending order of relevance, by :
- Theodore Bickle owner representative
- Frederick Vicouna, our broker (organizing ship transport is his job, ain't it?) but he hasn't posted here since 9 months... :(
- our captain
- Juraj (Youri) Sebastian (tag: "player" in the Cast list)... he has spent 3 terms in the Merchant Marine
- Barak Obama - but, "Yes we can" - as John Stewart once remarked - "does not mean that we will" ;)

Need I to go down the list? With 0 in Broker, Gvou is probably not your arranger! :D

Do we agree that :
1- our priority is to go after the Mammoth?
2- we'll disguise as traders-transporters, and give the baron is 7% (net) (You don't haggle with a Baron! plus, it seems fair) on our benefits
and
3- well pretend we're explorers/archeologist, if we need a reason to go somewhere the Mammoth is, and where we could not pretend to go for business
Then- so if the Baron would share his lead on some Ancient sites, and show us where he'd like us to explore, we'll be happy to seize the opportunity, if it happened to go along our priority?

2- if we need an excuse to go somewhere the Mammoth is, we'll pretend we're explorers/archeologist, and explore for the Baron meanwhile: may the Baron please tell us where he'd like us to explore for him? Looking for Ancient sites that interest him."
3- given that our priorities are non-commercial, we'll earn less, thus the Baron's share should not encroach on the economic balance of the ship... I suggest the captain starts his proposal at 3.5%

'seems like someone is looking for punishment...
Andrew Stewart Copeland, Marquis of Something, former Arbitrator at the Court of Celepina, is addressing his peer the Marquis of Aramisat, and a Baron is interfering in the conversation, talking when he's not invited to do so, preventing the Marquis from speaking! Gvoudzon for one is impatient to watch the quick demise and fall of the impudent Baron! :D

Re: OOC (2)

The Marquis asked a question and Andrew simply answered the good noble sir by remind him the proven abilities of our team. On a personal level also wanted to politely remind the Marquis of his past dedication to justice and informing him of his recent past where he pursed the enemies of the Imperium beyond it's borders and far away from the comforts of the court.

Perhaps Gvoudzon thinks Andrew should have been more direct, such as expressing as such.

"Listen curly give us a chance and we WILL FIND YOUR ENEMY NO MATTER WHERE HE IS TEAR HIS F###### HEAD OFF AND S### DOWN HIS NECK. After which we will tidy what's left and send it to the court wrapped in a pretty package."

Hopefully his years in the scout service hasn't taken too much shine off his courtly manner.

Andrew Steward Copeland:
The Marquis asked a question and Andrew simply answered the good noble sir ...

Andrew answered the Marquis. Then the Baron stuck his nose in; then Andrew answered the Baron.

I know that OOC our GM has causes of worry :'(, so he mixes the NPCs (he has so many to care of! We only have one PC! - well if the GM wants to delegate, I can play the Marquis :

Marquis Leonard Bolden-Tukera of Aramis
(Ignoring Andrew Steward Copeland Sting of The Police)
"But what do my eyes see? There is a valorous Vargr amongst you! Come by me, Hero of the Expanses, and I right now knight you Baron Gvoudzon (SOC 12), Knight of the Aramis Marches!" (turning to the March Harrier crew)
"The condition for the handling of the new ship is to accept Baron Gvoudzon as your captain, second to God only aboard"

There. That was easy)

...but I'd like to beg this to Nerull : given that indeed Andrew addressed the Marquis, so may be the Marquis should reply to Andrew (and that would also reward the player's roleplay and background use) :)

Alyx should reply "yes" to the captain's question

Nerull should have the Marquis reply something to the Captain

Somebody should iron out the contracts between the Baron and us before "Wednesday"...

Meanwhile, shall we state that we're visiting our next ship and inspect it?

And now... could one of the participants please point me to the post where Nerull reveals what the content of the message in a bauble was? :)

Now that Nerull has spoiled the beans all over the place, :) what is the participants' opinion? Game over? Game abandon ? "No I want to go to the very end of the plot?"

Who wants to continue?
Nerull, do you want to continue, or - read above - were you confused with your roommate and victim of his own procedure, and you're still recovering? :)

I'm closing it up Gvou, I enjoyed our time together, you are an excellent player, I am a brain dead GM. My roommate is going to be starting 5 straight weeks of radiation because operating on him will kill him. I'm thinking the radiation might too. Hope to see you around. Happy gaming everyone!

Thanks for the compliments. Thanks to you for having started the game and held it up. Well that was a good two-year "try", with lots of good players, so kudos to everyone for the fantastic comedy scenes that we've had :)

I hope the best for you mighty GM. Sorry things happened  the way they did for you. Thank you for taking up the duties of shepherding for this group of wacky players.  Gvou I loved the wit and humor you brought to the game. To all the others: It was a honor and pleasure to serve with this crew. Good gaming to you all and may we meet again in other adventures.

I can keep a lookout for the metaphorical candle in if you feel so inspired down the road. If and when that happens I will look forward to working with this crew and/or anything one else who answers the call to adventure. Until then may all you find hope and happiness.

Denila Bodrov I appreciated the wisdom and organizational skills that the chief pilot and XO brought to this game.

Will be thinking positive thoughts for your friend. I've lose a couple of old friends in the last half year and it's rough, both were sudden though, so I don't envy you the rollercoaster to come.
