OOC Chatter (1)

Khuevaengh is an established Electronics expert. Not so much computers/remote ops, but when it comes to Comms and Sensors he's hard to beat.

Using the ship shares: the problem with that is that we don't actually own the subsidized merchant (that's kind of the point of the ship). I think there's something about this in one of the JTAS releases that Mongoose did but I'd have to go look it up.

OOC Chatter (1)

Okay, looking at the MgT article about Fat Traders...

The ship shares can be used in one of two ways: in lots of five they can either add more weeks to the crew's control of the ship/route, or to increase the revenue share that the crew gets. Most of the PCs probably don't have 5+ shares individually but they could be pooled for the purpose.

Revenue/expense-wise, the owner takes 50% of the revenue but also covers the mortgage, so the crew only needs to pay operating/maintenance/fuel out of pocket. The other 50% of the revenue can be used at the crew's discretion but an operating fund has to be maintained out of this, at the very least.

If it's on the 15 (or more, with shares) week 'free' period then it can go wherever, but it has to be back in its assigned area at the end of that period.

The other requirement is that the crew have to pass vetting: anyone with a rogue/prisoner career background won't be accepted unless someone can forge the records (not easy), and Mishaps that kicked someone out of a career also act as a disqualifier unless someone pulls off a good enough Admin to show that it was all just a terrible misunderstaanding. They also want at least one person with 3+ terms in Merchant.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

If we're operating a Fat Trader for the adventure then other ship-ownership results would probably turn into 'pension' income (25,000/year per time rolled), as ships that you partly own but are operating under someone else at present.

Then again, if we end up with an entire ship of some sort then the adventure could probably be rewritten around it. A lab ship isn't going to do much trading though.

With a guaranteed income of 55k credits/month after monthly expenses, my character will be unlikely to work on a freighter.

I think I might reroll the "goddess". Fairer anyway!

55K/month? Pensions and ship shares are paid per-year! That's just under 5K/month, which isn't bad but certainly doesn't outshine a proper salary and dividends.

Ok, I'll go for computers and remote ops then, but I guess my main function is Life Support and Power Engineering.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Okay.

Of the 'official' salary positions, Khuevaengh the electronics expert would be equivalent to an engineer, and he's far and away better at that than anything else, but he has enough secondary skills to cover marine or medic in a pinch, and knows a bit about life support. (He won't mess with power or drives unless there's no one else qualified, though.)

That 55,000 is not an annual income, mustering out rolls, it's a one time thing. The retirement is annual, that's once a year.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Hmm, I also see an Droyne engineer, which means we have 4 counting as engineers if I am correct.

As far as I know:

  • Theodore Bickle - Captain, Astrogation, NPC
  • Danilla - Pilot
  • Andrew Steward Copeland - Pilot? (According to crew thread)
  • Khuevaengh - Electronics (Sensor, Comms), Some Engineer (Life Support)
  • Leroy Ogambe - Astrogation, Broker
  • Carver Arvel - Engineer (J-Drive, M-Drive)
  • Rigollo - Engineer (J-Drive, M-Drive), Backup Pilot, NPC
  • Alyx Karoll - Steward

This would mean we seem to miss:
  • Medic (Khuevaengh can cover here)
  • Gunner (Carver can cover somewhat, anyone else?)
  • Marine (Khuevaengh and Carver can do this a bit I suppose)

Anything missing here?
I will update this when I receive more info.

Rigollo is Jump 1, Maneuver 1, Power Plant 1. But I can make him Astrogator easily enough. He has Pilot as well so we have back-up just in case.

Khuevaengh's UPP, skillset, and self-described background are all now up in his description.

As with many 'cultural' vargr, he hasn't stuck to any career for long.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

As she is, she is an excellent scientist: edu 15, but is good in int and soc as well.

She knows a bit about electronics (sensors, computers) and engineering (life support). T

We could wait with distributing roles until we have divided up the shared skills package and made connections.

I see that Rigollo is an NPC. In that case I will move from Power and Life Support to J+M Drive unless anybody objects. This way the PC's have less overlap.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

From the current distribution I think that Rigollo not necessary, and given the overlap we already have I personally don't think we need anyone else.

The only position which is completely missing is Steward, and there are a couple of possibilities where we can cover that too. Given Florence her stellar stats, she could take that job without a problem if she wanted to.

Edit2: nvm

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Well, my other main Traveller persona is paper-pusher/academic/plausible mad scientist if we feel there's too much overlap right now. The downside is that they have almost no technical skills relevant to running a starship, and they aren't qualified as a steward either.

I suppose they could at least ensure that the passengers are too drunk to care. (Carouse 1 is enough to tend bar...)

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Howdy all! Guess I'm the last to join. I'm open for whatever role is left. I'm seeing that Steward is open, which is fine though I suspect it will be something that is tangential to the career which brought him here.
