I'm holding off on responding because Alyx sent out something for others to look at and I don't know who's seen it because they're not physically there.

I'm complaining for the second and last time on this subject :'( ...but the use of Private Messages is spoiling my pleasure of reading the - finely written - interactions of Alyx and Andrew S. Copeland, since they seem to act erratically and incomprehensibly. I just can't follow the drift, because the characters have some knowledge - that the readers/audience would like to be in the known to appreciate what's going on. :/

You want PMs to end is what you're saying? I can do that if it is what everyone wants, doesn't matter to me. What do you all think. Just post everything in the open so everyone is in the loop?

You can post in Khue's room, as you are there if you guys want to.

Alyx isn't reacting erratically, just impulsively :). The only PM I was involved with was accidental (clicked the thing on mobile and didn't notice) and I think I managed to get the gist of it into the public forum.

I know ALEX noticed but now I am as well, have we lost our engineer, Carver?   He doesn't live in SOUTHERN CA does he?   If so, I understand given my bout with the NW wildfires this late summer/ early fall and having to evacuate.    From what I am gleaning from the news is that they are still raging fires in CA SO HE might have lost everything.

He may have, I sent him an rmail about 10 minutes ago, if he lost everything I probably won't hear from him, I don't know for sure where he lives. I'll NPC him a bit and we can hope he comes back.

PMs are okay for side scenes that won't meaningfully impact the main story thread(s), but they're a bad way to conduct anything that's relevant to the whole group.

Are we all invited to the dinner? Sorry I missed that detail. Frederick would like to go to that if it is appropriate for him to go (not inviting himself).

I don't suppose the records that he just hacked give any indication as to why? (If the pawnshop saw an opportunity with the museum, the museum was pressuring them, someone else was involved, etc.)

The museum paid more than the item was worth. They paid 10,000Cr for a 2,500Cr brooch.

Maybe, although that's likely to just get the thing seized, not just because of the fraud but because it's of interest to the authorities for its message. And any resolution would require the swift (bureaucratic) hand of justice to do its work, so it might be done in a year or three.

If giving the museum and pawn shop (especially the latter) a poke in the eye is more important than getting the amulet back quickly, though, then it's a viable plan.

My character would prefer to avoid resorting outright robbery of the museum. Other than the legality we would need hide from both the authority and the criminals until repairs on the ship are completed in two weeks. If the message on the macguffin is vital for the adventure I hope that pulling off a heist is not our only option.

I can see several other ways, but they all include involving other parties with the authority to yoink the brooch/message from us. Part of why I'm trying to figure out who at the museum is actively involved and what they know.

quote:
our itinerary includes Pysadi, Zila, Carsten, Pavanne, Nasemin, Jesedipere and then the Vargr Extents to beautiful Scangen. Your return journey will be back through Jesedipere to Junidy.

Your cousin on Aramanx has asked that you depart from your itinerary and pick up the additional luggage he referred to in his last letter. He also says that he hopes you will prolong your stay there for several weeks and then travel to – Junidy by way of Nasemin.

Does something look suspicious to Gvoudzon in this message? Is the itinerary standard? Is Scangen that beautiful? Is there something worth staying for weeks on Aramanx? Is "pick the additional luggage" a code for smuggling ? Is "cousin" a slang word for something in the corsair circles?

Streetwise : Gvoudzon rolled 11 using 2d6+1 ((6,4)).
