I'm assuming we are now underway. Correct?

Time to think about what skill to train up.

Re: OOC Chatter!

As a player I may have failed to pick up on any, but maybe as a character its more obvious...

Is there any negative vibe with anyone on the ship towards another on the ship? Like an intentionally overt vibe? Or an unintended, but difficult to hide vibe?

It would be awesome, but probably unrealistic, if we all got along famously. Hunky dory!

Hmmm... secret enemies!  :)

Also could we rig up a trash can covered with aluminum foil to make a 'bigger' target and kick it out an airlock to make a target for the gunners?

Give it time. While there is no obvious initial inter-player conflicts that could easily change during the course of the game

Re: OOC Chatter!

So if I understand correctly : if we want to install the fuel tanks we wait a month for a place at the shipyards, and then it takes 2 weeks to rig the tanks, and then a week of travel, twice, to reach a handful of planets? Total 8 weeks?

Why don't we jump right now, even with an empty cargo bay to Reacher, refuel at the gas giant and re-jump if it's too dangerous to stay, and start to do business again at Vinorian? Total = 2 weeks! :)

No, we don't need a shipyard. We only have to spend 2 weeks to install the tanks ourselves.

my bad ; I skimmed through your conversation. :/
Still, if we have to leave Natoko with an empty cargo, our fastest way to fill the hull is a jump to Reacher (or do we have a planned course?)

I have the same question, I think it is our call to decide what we are doing next. I expect the captain will gather us together for a council unless he already has a plan.

Nerull:
In reply to Danila (msg # 57):

quote:
1) Do they buy back refined fuel and at what price?
2) Is it legal to sell refined fuel to other ships in the spaceport?
3) Do they offer stationary storage tanks in the spaceport? I.e. is it possible to rent some tanks, store fuel there and transship fuel from the spaceship to the rented tanks and back, as needed? And at what costs?

Why sell your fuel? No, they have the concession to sell fuel. I'll think about it.

Quite simply, at first I thought we could refine 140 tons of fuel ourselves and save 56,000 credits on refined fuel. But so far we have a tank with a capacity of only 40 tons, and so I need to store the fuel somewhere while we install collapsible tanks. Then I thought that we would process 140 tons in 7 days, but since we are stuck here for 2 weeks, we can easily process even more fuel and sell it, and make a little money on it while we are stuck on this planet.

Re: OOC Chatter!

Andrew Steward Copeland:
OCC: adding 50 ton tank turn the March Harrier into a 450 ton ship. which means each parsec will require 45 tons fuel plus 12 per month for the power plant. If we ever want to do a 3 parsec to get another 45 tons collapsible tank, however I begin to see diminishing returns at this point.

No, demountable tank is inserted inside of a ship. It converts existing cargo capacity into fuel tanks. I.e. our cargo capacity would change from 194 tons to 144 tons. And the space taken (50 tons) cannot be used for cargo even if the tanks are empty.

Re: OOC Chatter!

In reply to Danila (msg # 576):

So am I confusing dismountable tanks for detachable tanks then? That would make it a less flexible and  that would also mean we would only have 24 tons of cargo tanks left.

Re: OOC Chatter!

In reply to Andrew Steward Copeland (msg # 577):

Demountable tanks: treat it as just a normal fuel tank.
Collapsible tanks: they take almost no space when empty. The caveat is that collapsible tanks cannot pump fuel into J-drive (while demountable can), the fuel must be first pumped into normal tanks before use for a jump. This is not a problem for J-1 Harrier.
Drop tanks: right before a jump, the fuel is taken from them into the J-drive and the empty tanks are left behind.

Let's see if I can code a standard reply...

I thought one could deduce from my fancy style in Gvou's (monologues|dialogues|actions) that I am the wittiest writer Rpol has ever featured, but I'm probably overestimating my talent and/or the interest of my writings... So yes this was a joke & I'm trying to be funny. You wouldn't be the first, [PlayerName$], to browse my posts and miss the point that I am wrapping in unfathomable verbiage ;)

Re: OOC Chatter!

Travellers typically do not live on their ship when in dock, do they? So I'm guessing there are hotels or extended period living quarters for folk like us? We are in individual quarters? or all together? What would you guys prefer?

After one week in confinement in the ship, there's nothing a Vargr Corsair appreciates more than run and roam through any place with more volume...
