Re: OOC Thread

I feel like a text-based map *should* be easier to manage, but it always seems difficult when things start changing and my formatting gets off.  It also seems as though sometimes Macs don't like to copy and paste between documents and text input on a web browser (or at least the programs I've used in the past didn't like that.)
I have Roll20, and I like the graphical maps it produces, plus I've gotten pretty adept at using it.  I have a paid subscription, so one possible solution is to just have the battlemap on Roll20 and you can all log in to the game. and actually move your tokens on the map.  I didn't want you to have to jump into different platforms to handle that, but it's another option.

Re: OOC Thread

I'm not crazy about changing platforms. If it's just about consulting the maps there,  I'm cool with it though.

Re: OOC Thread

I think going forward, I'll include a recap showing the conditions of each enemy.  (Possibly each PC as well?) Where's the best place to put that?  On the map thread or the game thread?

I think we're 50/50 for this, but when someone casts a spell, can you add in the spell save and DC to your description?

Re: OOC Thread

Do you allow alchemical power components? I could use the alchemist's fire to enhance burning hands.

Yeah, I'm okay with alchemical power components.

Well, Saviǣ isn't qualified to be an interrogator. Charisma and Wisdom were both dump stats...

You can forgo the roll if you want.  There's no time pressure and no reason one character couldn't interrogate multiple bandits.  I guess I should have said "everyone who wants to try."

Re: OOC Thread

Gah, sorry for the slow pace this week.  I was helping to host a web conference for 5 hours on Wednesday and Thursday, and got completely burned out from sitting in front of a computer.  Then I had to spend all day today catching up on emails and work I had put off Wednesday and Thursday.

Re: OOC Thread

Man, this has been a tough week.  We've been sending our kids to a local place that's been supervising virtual learning for a handful of kids, but decided to keep them home this week because we were worried about a possible spike in infections following Thanksgiving here in the states.  Luckily, that seems not have happened in our area, but man, I forgot how hard it is to work with the kids at home!

Re: OOC Thread

We've decided to pull both of my kids from daycare until at least mid-January out of fear of a spike from Thanksgiving and then again for christmas and new years. My wife and I are going to take time off and work-half time and tag-team watching them. I might have less time/energy to post though.

I’m already struggling to focus on work with a puppy, can’t imagine with kids!
Good luck to you both.

Yeah, we're worried about the same thing.  The post-Thanksgiving spike doesn't appear to have materialized in our area, though part of me is worried that testing is getting overwhelmed at this point.  But I'm sure the same thing will happen after Christmas as well, and we'll pull them out for at least a week in January.

Re: OOC Thread

So, this can be a common issue in PbP games. Decision paralysis. I’ve seen several ways to handle this. First is party consensus, which is nice but can be slow. Another is to nominate a “party caller” who can take input from everyone but ultimately makes the choice. We could also just vote, I suppose, which probably works if there are relatively few options.

Is everything ok here? We're fast headed to the holidays – shall we go on hiatus or are we playing through?

I'm still here through the holidays.

GM: Yes, but how should we decide on the two options? :-)

More seriously, I'm ok with either but I feel that the "party caller" tends to work best. I am willing to do it, but will also defer if someone else wants to.

Re: OOC Thread

I'm very much in favour of a party tiebreaker.
Shall we hold elections? Maybe start by forming an electoral college and bicameral system?
Oghul is not a candidate by the way, she favours different ways of rising to power ;)

I also wouldn't mind being the caller.

I am pretty sure I'll win the election once my 130,000 extra votes get counted. :)

Re: OOC Thread

To the earlier question, I should be good for continuing this over the holidays.  We're not planning on doing any traveling, and although I'll have my kids at home for thte next two weeks, my company also shuts down from Christmas-New Years, so I should be able to find some time to update each day.  I've been a little busy the past week with all the other end-of-year stuff, doing performance evaluations and finishing projects for work, but now that's basically over.

Hah!

Well, my basic argument IC is that Thurak is a high charisma party face kind of person who would want to take the lead. OOC, I'm fine either way, but I do promise to post/log-in frequently enough to keep things moving along.

Re: OOC Thread

My basic argument is that Aeron dresses like a paladin and thus looks utterly honest and predictable.  Instead, he's an inquisitor that can do what he feels is right.

Aeron's actually pretty entirely *not* built to be the decision-maker, and everyone should vote for Thurak.  I just figured it would be more fun to give him a brief run for it.

Re: OOC Thread

Quick question re distances — is 55 miles the same as real life miles?
That seems like an awful long distance to pinpoint a thicket of berries.

Yeah, it’s the same. It’s basically because all the distances are in terms of hex size.
