Part 1: Trouble at Oleg's

After days of travel, your group of explorers and adventurers is within sight of Oleg's Trading Post.  It is a small trading post, about 100 miles south of the nearest town, along the South Rostland Road.  The crude gate, composed of large logs lashed together, lies closed.  Inside the fort, you can hear the muffled sound of work: an occasional bang or clunk of wood being hammered into place.

After a few minutes, the gates creak open, and you are greeted by a pretty woman, not quite yet into middle age.

"Greetings!  Welcome to Oleg's Trading Post.  I'm Svetlana.  Have you had a long travel?  We had word that Brevoy was sending some reinforcements to help us with the bandit problem that we've been experiencing.  Please, join us for some food.  I'm sure you're all hungry after your travels."

She gestures for you to come inside, seeming completely at ease with the motley group.

The woman gestures to the roof of the small building to the right of the entryway.  "My husband is repairing the roof of the guest house.  He'll be with us when he's finished."  The man on the roof looks over, grunts and returns to his work.

Perception and Sense Motive checks from everyone, please.

Part 1: Trouble at Oleg's

Aeron dismounted from Mick, leaving his lance sheathed at the massive warhorse's shoulder.  He gave the beast a pat before taking the reins to guide it forward.  "Greetings, Svetlana."  He replied.  He left the greeting at that and turned his eye immediately to the post's defenses and allowed someone else to speak for the group.  It would certainly not be charitable to comment on the difficulty of the journey in either direction as one of the ones who had come on horseback.  Besides, if this was where they were to work from and defend, he wanted to know how much trust to put in its structure.

Part 1: Trouble at Oleg's

"...and that's when Choral's red dragon swooped in and torched all of the Melcat wagons and sent the messengers back on foot for the insult!" Saviǣ recounts the tale from her childhood among the nobles of Rostland, trying to fill the awkward silence among new acquaintances and lack of books with stories that only she really finds interesting--until the log fort comes into view and she announces excitedly, "Look! We're here!" The elven lass takes a hold of the bridle of her mule, Ferris, who has been content to follow along with the group and behind the big man's big horse, and begins to slow him down as they approach the closed gate.

She looks about, unsure of the etiquette for the situation, before shrugging and calling out at the fort, "Hello? Is this Oleg's?" As they wait, the girl takes off the wide-brimmed cavalier hat she had been wearing to protect against the sun and places it on top of the mule's pack saddle, then casts a small cantrip to freshen up.

When Svetlana opens the gate and introduces herself, the elf is quick to greet her with an offered hand and answer, "I guess that must be us! Pleased to meet you, I am Saviǣ Æssildais. We heard you were having trouble with bandits."
