Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

Teddy pops back up, invigorated by the warmth and attention.

"Not a knight of hell! I'm a knight of justice, truth, and freedom!"

The little guy strikes a knightly pose, his small frame and soft cuddly figure making it more adorable than imposing.

He looks at the regal fighter (Julius) as if sizing up a fellow knight.

"I'm Sir Theodore Bearington! Friends call me Teddy! What's your name, good sir?"

His voice and mannerisms are clearly those of a child but he certainly was putting forth quite the effort.

"I am Julius Stolo. A warrior fighting for justice, tempered by mercy." He offers his hand to the bear in greeting. "I've heard rumors of portals to strange places in these parts... though I can only wonder if I haven't passed one without noticing already."

The attractive elf would walk to the bar with the angel at her side and order a drink for the both of them.

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

Teddy shakes Julius' hand.

"Well met, Sir Stolo!"

He looks around the tavern at all the outsiders keeping up the flames and the two bards entertaining everyone, both juggler (Jackal) and lute playing goblin (Scoot).

"Yeah, this place has a lot of amazing magic."

He peers over at the summoner beside the angel (Merisiel).

"WOW! An angel! They're like the knights of the clouds! That's what my princess used to tell me."

His child-like wonder and awe is nothing short of endearing.

Tiberius strolls over to the bar where the summoner is and order himself a drink as well, turning to the elf.

"Not a common thing even among our kind to walk around with a celestial being." he takes a sip from his drink, "This would be the point where a lesser man would insinuate that you are also a celestial being; but I am wise enough to not rudely throw corny pick-up lines at people with angels."

The elf man bows slightly, "Tiberius Wintersun is my name, and I am a magical swordsman by trade."

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

She hears the bear mention Raxiel, she perked a brow. "...now that is something you do not see everyday. A talking, teddy bear, dressed as a knight?" She was just as in awe at him as he was at her Angel.

"That is not nice Merisiel." The Angel said, chastising the young elven female.

"I didn't mean anything bad! He's so cute, and small, and I've never seen anything like it!" She said, admiring the little bear knight!

And that was when the other elf strolled up to her. She cocked her head to one side as she consider his words for a moment. "...stating you are a wiser man to not use such a corny pick-up line, is a corny pick-up line in of itself you know." There was a charisma about this woman that just carried an air of divinity about her. Is it possible that he wasn't far from the truth with his mock insinuation of calling her a celestial being? "I am Merisiel, blessed one of Calistria and partner of the Angel Raxiel. It is a pleasure to meet you." She returned his bow.

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

After acclimating to the heat of the common room, Vynyc became more open to the the idea of outsiders running an inn. Even admiring their entrepreneurial initiative. I may need to slow down on the ale...

Seeing the more unique patrons congregating at the bar, Vynyc decided to make his way over as well. The gnome made his way up to the teddy bear knight, eyeing the kobold momentarily, and leaned over to have a closer look. "So are you a knight in a doll's body, or a bear knight turned into a doll, or an animated doll that's a knight? Cursed, cursed, or abomination. Yeah that covers it."

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

Teddy looks Vynyc dead in the eyes with a blank stare. An awkward moment passes as, Teddy clearly does not wholly grasp the gnome's meaning. Then, he suddenly begins giggling like a little boy.

"Haha! No, silly. I'm a knight so my body is a knight too!"

His childlike laughter was obnoxiously adorable.

"You talk funny! I'm Teddy! You want to be friends?"

Without any sarcasm in his voice whatsoever, the gullible-but-sweet little teddy bear seemed to be excited to talk to someone else closer to his height.

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

Out of the corner of your eye, you notice something very noticeably out of place. Something that you're sure wasn't always there, but you never noticed arrive. It hangs over a table damp and wet like a curtain of something like more fiberous seaweed, draped in an cone-like style over that table. You could actually mistake it for a curtain, but a closer look reveals it to be the hair of some gaunt, tall creature you can't make out from within the tent of hair.

It smells awful, like mold.

Thinking about it, you are pretty sure normal folk had been sitting there a moment ago.

Other people are starting to notice it as well. They seem aghast and confused at the thing.

Flamescale was serving and heating up drinks to another table when he notices the crowd. They all seem to be gawking at...whatever the hair thing was. The kobold takes off his apron and started to head over to where the problem was...

"You talk funny! I'm Teddy! You want to be friends?"

Vynyc returned the bear's stare for a moment and then tipped his head back to let out a great laugh, "Yes, I suppose I do, little one! I think we can be friends. Just be warned; don't make squeaky sounds around Havel or he might mistake you for a toy!"

GM the DM:

Vynyc's sensate heritage felt the sudden, overwhelming wave of stench wash over him. The gnome's head turned sharply to face the wall of hair, "By Urdlen's Udder! What in the Nine Hells is that?"

Julius would have dismissed the shaggy being in the corner, considering everything else he'd seen so far. But when he sees the other patron's reaction, he gets the idea that this thing is a step too far in the 'weird' direction for this place...

He returns to his table, not acting threatening... but making sure his halberd is within reach.

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

As the group grows closer and/or inspects it the hair shudders and starts to lunge out like tendrils. It seems particularly interested in the bear knight despite him not being the closest.

Anyone that was around the perimeter of the room will need to stride twice to get in melee range, but anyone else is within 25ft of it unless they would prefer not to be. Anyone talking to Theodore is south of it, while people at the center bar would be to the left of it and within 15ft of it. Jackal is northwest while Rocco is northeast.

I haven't been able to craft a map, so we will have to do this via imagination. Roll Initiative.

"If it is Undead, then my and Raxiel's attack's should affect very well as well. Given we are both servants of Calistra. Isn't that right Raxiel?" She said with a small nod to the Angel next to her.

The Angel stood, and nodded. "Very much so Merisiel. Though the Gnome is correct, staying back would be prudent."

"I do not need to get close. I have holy spell that are perfect for undead." She said with a nod.

Re: Prologue - A Decadent Day to Die

"Frrrrrieeeeeend!" a voice from the center of the mass that sounds like something physically forcing vocal cords to move shrieks and moves closer to the bear, tendrils of 'hair' moving the seated center, table, and chairs across the floor rather than the creature standing, "Have tea with the cooOoourt, frrrrrieeeennd!"

It lashes out a long tendril at the bear, successfully grabbing Teddy, and uses its last action pushing a chair out from the table. Context clues would lead any to deduce its going to try and drag the bear knight into the chair next round.

It is now 10ft closer to anyone that was talking to Teddy, its seizing of the table making it Large size and the tendril having lashed out at a range of about 15ft. This thing has some pretty good reach on it.
