Re: Tadaa!

had another busy period trying to lock down a school project. Month and a half until I'm on online only classes which should (hopefully) free up more time.

As always, thanks to yall for sticking through what is probably the slowest moving game here.

Re: Tadaa!

In other news, someone must have gotten word of the shenanigans we've been up to, as they've announced yesterday a new Star Wars movie with/about Rey and a New Jedi Order.

I'll be included in the movie and, according to rumour, shall be killing Rey.

Re: Tadaa!

It certainly looks pretty, but not having ever watched Clone Wars or Rebels, I'm a little worried about whether I'll be able to understand at all what's going on.

Re: Tadaa!

Have you been watching the Mandalorian? If so, Ahsoka shows up there and that's...possibly all you might need to know? They'll probably explain other stuff along the way (hopefully with not quite as many flashbacks as Boba).

Re: Tadaa!

<laugh> For a second, all I could see what that scene from the Clone Wars where JarJar and Mace Windu are in a shuttle together. Mace is using the Force and says something, "I see...a city. I see...streets. I see people." And JarJar's all, "Yep, meesa see those too." haha

How long is the drow paper?  Drow have more issues than National Geographic. :)

I don’t know very much about diversity in South Africa but I think they have pretty decent legal equality?

Re: Tadaa!

Better than I thought it would. Aced my South Africa course and a B+ on the writing course (would have been an A had I not misunderstood two due dates).

Now into an ASL course and another on colonial america.

I'm not functioning as well as I'd like. I'm surprised that my perpetual sleep deficit isn't affecting me worse than it is. I'm sucking on caffeine most hours of the day.

The real elephant in the room is that when I do have time, even days off, this isn't something that I'm often ready or willing to engage in. Maybe it's being tired, maybe it's burnout, maybe it's guilt of wanting this game to have gotten further than it has in the 3 years I've had it going, maybe it's not knowing where to go from here.

After two doctorates and a residency I’ve found that if you think it might be burnout, it probably is.

Sorry for limping along—I’m trying to get ready for a major surgery in a few weeks and it’s a lot.

In reply to Midichlorians (msg # 415):

Well I wouldn't worry about where the game is at. Maybe watch some Star Wars stuff (Bad Batch, Andor, Ahsoka) to see if that helps relax you and/or get the creative juices flowing again.

And if you need to take some time, I get it.

To be fair to yourself, you did go on a six-month military deployment. Getting back, it seems you jumped right into school, so you have had a lot going on. I think you'll find those of us who have been here since the beginning are perfectly understanding and willing to wait for you. I certainly am.

Re: Tadaa!

I appreciate that, and yes. I went from my deployment to work at NGA in less than a month, and than took on classes that january, so only two months after getting back home.

There is a lot going on, and especially on my work days, I'm hitting straight from work to cooking dinner to bedtime, to maybe an hour with the wife, to ~5 hours of sleep for the next day. I just don't have a lot of bandwidth.

That said, I also feel like I lost the plot. I've never had notes or extensive plans for any of you guys, or the ones that came and went, and though I remember the intent of each of your stories, I'm hazy on the method.

AND, doubtful on quality. I think there's a lot of 'wish I had done that better/differently' going on. Part of that is coming up with plans for players who abandon the game after two posts; losing out on good storylines and not sure what different things to do instead. I'm also not that sure in my ability to create custom baddies and encounters that are actually interesting and challenging. (a lot of the material in the books is also for things that don't actually exist anymore, which also causes an argument in my head of what's fair game to use and what isn't)

To use the metaphorical gameplay slider, I think I've always been over on the "narrative" side of things.

There's the temptation to start from scratch, but that wouldn't be fair to you all. More to point, that in of itself wouldn't solve the bigger issues.
