Welcome, everyone!

Curious, how would you guys prefer to do stat generation?

1) Random Roll (4d6 drop low)
2) Point Buy (GM tells us how many pts)
3) Standard Array

So, we've got three Noble characters, a soldier, and a Scout. While I would worry about redundancy, I think we've got enough separation in the narratives, where it matters.

We have an ideological leader, a political leader, and a military leader.

Also, you will all be at least starting in different places, and the story will determine if/when your plots converge upon one another.

Y'all decide how to do stat blocks on your own, I will put my own voice down if a consensus isn't reached.

Had I known there was a stack of nobles I would have been more serious about the scoundrel. I can pull the narrative with that as well.

That's all behind the curtain mechanical stuff, that I'm not SUPER worried about. Since nothing has been put on paper, so to speak, this the opportunity to revisit things, if you wish.

I'm perfectly okay with everyone as they are right now, but feel free to push/pull so yall are good with each other.

On a different note,

I have a template for the stat blocks, and you should all be able to create and edit your character sheets.

Let me know if there's any questions

Hey all, looking forward to gaming with you! :)

I'd originally conceived my character Miri as a Scoundrel before deciding to go with Noble (she's a rich girl from civilised space who ran away from home to be a smuggler and all kinds of fun things.)

Also I'm pretty new at the game so I'm happy to go with whichever method of stat generation you veteran types prefer.

In reply to Miri Trace (msg # 7):

Be happy with your Noble!  I mean, even if we both take Wealth as a talent at first level, the way we plan to use that wealth, our feats, and our goals could be very, very different!

:)

Towards the questions I asked earlier...I prefer the 4d6 drop the low random roll.  However, I know not everyone else does.  I tend to see a lot of similar attributes with point buy and array, but, at the end of the day, I just want to play and tell a story so I can make any option work for me.

It does make sense. All the movie crew had been leaders in some shape form or fashion. And we may all branch out away from noble if Jedi training pops up ingame.

Very True! :)

01:24, Today: Miri Trace rolled 8 using 4d6, dropping the lowest dice only.  Attribute Six.

01:23, Today: Miri Trace rolled 13 using 4d6, dropping the lowest dice only.  Attribute Five.

01:23, Today: Miri Trace rolled 10 using 4d6, dropping the lowest dice only.  Attribute Four.

01:23, Today: Miri Trace rolled 10 using 4d6, dropping the lowest dice only.  Attribute Three.

01:23, Today: Miri Trace rolled 13 using 4d6, dropping the lowest dice only.  Attribute Two.

01:22, Today: Miri Trace rolled 13 using 4d6, dropping the lowest dice only.  Attribute One.

Hmm... not exactly an amazing character but I guess that sort of suits a girl who was a spoilt rich girl.

Rerolling
If your scores are too low, you may scrap them a reroll all six scores. Your scores are considered too low if your total modifiers (before changes according to species) are 0 or less, or if your highest score is 13 or lower.

In reply to Cypher Khan (msg # 11):

Wow... kind of got the opposite extreme with attributes that are almost too high for the character I had in mind! Miri is charming sure but an 18 is sort of overkill!

Maybe I should try the standard array or point buy. Otherwise we might be looking at a pretty wide variance in characters.

Re: OOC

In reply to Miri Trace (msg # 12):

The wide variance is something that the GM can handle without taking anything away from someone who is lucky.  For instance (just an example of an option I've seen used), take the person who rolls the highest and add up the total pluses from their total rolls.  Then, make sure that every other player is at least within 2 of that.  It doesn't take anything away from the player who rolled well, and let's other players make up the slack for bad rolls.

However, as mentioned, I am open to whatever  :)

Re: OOC

I do like rolling for stats but it can lead to some imbalances i.e. one person rolls amazingly while others roll just above the recommended. For instance, if one those 13s was just one higher, it would not constitute a reroll but would still be pretty lackluster at 21 points. Which does feel very heroic. Now, there are plenty ways to mitigate such things if you're up for it.

Re: OOC

Also, you don't have to put the 18 in Charisma...put it in the stat you think defines your goals more!  Dex for shooting, Int...for being smart (lol), Con to be hard to kill...have a field day :)

Re: OOC

Good points. Dex 18 sounds pretty good, especially for my rich gal trying to be a smuggler (piloting, firing blasters and five years of Alderaanian ballet.)

Are we all humans? I considered making Miri another species but I found a picture I really liked to cast her has (https://farm5.static.flickr.co...555_e80a9f4735_o.jpg)
