The Event Horizon

Starting point for Siibesh

https://www.worldanvil.com/w/a...andmark?preview=true

In a rare low moment, you and your crewmates were aboard the space station Event Horizon. Parked along a popular hyperspace route, the name derives from the dangerous proximity to a black hole.

The Resistance and the New Republic claimed control of the area, though any overt military presence was hard to spot, as it often was in the Outer Rim.

It was a rare moment for peace, trade, and relaxation for traders, explorers, smuggler, and others who tried to keep the galaxy turning despite the constant presence of war.

The Event Horizon

Siibesh clicked happily to himself as he stepped out of his ship.  He was very pleased to have been allowed off of Gand when he requested it.  The powerful voice that had spoken to him from the mists seemed to have retreated from the planet and into space.  He felt a strong, almost undeniable, urge to follow after it.  He thought back to how life had seemed prior to the voice - colors muted, sounds duller.  Shaking his head, he rid his mind of those thoughts - he could not believe how much more life there was in life now and he had no desire to go back, even in his thoughts, to the dullness of before-time.

He quested about the space station, marveling at such a large place being suspended in the relative nothing of space.  As he wandered, he reached out with his mind to see if he could detect the voice that had reached out to him, now that he was out in the deep that was not water.

14:27, Today: Siibesh rolled 9 using 1d20+1.  Use the Force.

The Event Horizon

There was no overt voice to be heard, not this time. You begin to suspect that they might be rare. You only know rumors of the Jedi and other ancient traditions of the Force, but conversations with the dead was not common.

You've been an accomplished tracker before the voice, so you know better than most to use all of your senses, not just your nascent touch of the Force, to find something.

Wandering about the station, there's a lot of Republic soldiers and officers, who seem to have a shared sense of tension and worry about them, even when they don't speak to each other.

The cantina area seems to be pretty quiet. This isn't the desperate streets of Mos Eisley in Tattooine. Most folks here are just looking to refuel, do maintenance, or otherwise spend as little time here as possible so they can get on with their actual work.

If you would like more, make either a Perception check to see if there's anything unusual going on in the space, or Gather Information if you want to start talking to folks around the station to find out the latest goings on.

The Event Horizon

Siibesh noted the demeanor of the Republic troops.  He tilted his head as he briefly considered what he could do.  He felt some concern for them, but information was needed prior to action.  As an outsider, he preferred to gather what information he could before approaching any of them.  He strained his ears to listen to discussions as he passed by or stood near different groups, checking the holonet to see if there was any publicly available information as well.

14:00, Today: Siibesh rolled 13 using 1d20+8.  Perception.

Also, what is the nature of Siibesh's ship and crew - is he assigned to be working on it or for someone on it, is it delegated to him to pursue the call he felt, or something else?

"You don't know how to take it easy, do you?" You hear a familiar voice behind you as you log in to the public Holonet terminal, as Kharina walks up behind you. You've only been in her crew for a short time, but you've sensed that the Captain is quiet, but confident. A leader of the invasive type.

"Looking for anything specific, or just fighting off boredom?"

"Some things Siibesh takes easy.  Small prey on Gand, very easy.  Many other things, not easy."  Siibesh responded robotically as the transliterator changed his low clicks and growls into speech.  Clearly, he had missed the idiom.

He gestured toward some Rebublic soldiers.  "Siibesh sees that there something wrong.  Troops and officers alike uneasy.  Not right."

"Well, we're at war. It would be more concerning if they weren't worried, given the way things are going. Neither side can say that victory is assured, and I think the Exagol high is coming to an end. I wouldn't pay it any mind" She took a second to correct herself "Of course, I'm not a Findsman"

"I haven't seen Xighoa since we got off the ship, which means there's probably some degree of trouble that she's involved in. Can't leave without a pilot"

"Gand will seek for Xighoa for Captain Kharina." Siibesh replied cheerfully.  He checked his double-barreled blaster carbine for charge and appearance before releasing it to hang from its strap again.  "Since she is not in cantina, he may have gone to buy yet another bauble for cockpit."

Relieved to have a mission, Siibesh set out to discover what kind of gift shop, flea market, or shady corner dealing locations this station had to offer, and what had delayed Xighoa's return.

It would not be difficult to find Xighoa. She was an unnatural decision for a pilot, and thus makes her stand out in a crowd. Namely, the metallic visor that covers her species vestigial eyes.

She was found in a corner of the station's cantina, being chatted up by someone hiding their face behind a dark, yawning hood.

"Xighoa is bargaining for something for the cockpit, or does she need Siibesh's help with something?"  Siibesh asked her curiously, curiously eyeing up the hooded figure before her.  He examined the other being with all of his senses - even the one that was new to him.

Xighoa smiled "I could always use your company there Siibesh" The captain responded jovialy. "I've just been swapping stories to pass the time..."

14:09, Today: Midichlorians, on behalf of Siibesh, rolled 17 using 1d20+1.  Use The Force.

Searching your feelings, there's something unnerving about the man Xighoa is talking with. Not just in his attire, he seems dark, almost...empty, somehow.

"A Findsman, and one of the Seer race. How very strange. Fate has brought us all together, surely"
