Nightshade and Doll
Having submitted her report about the visit to the homeless shelter, Doll was casually enjoying a generous serving of coffee, kindly provided in the smallest available disposable container not normally used for beverages but was the best option to accommodate the special requirements for someone who was becoming a frequent customer. The caffeine was working its magic, not quite a substitute for the missing sleep from the night before but it was helping her get through the morning. Doll felt a little bit of guilt that her report was not up to her usual standards for work but it shouldn't jeopardize any funding for the homeless shelter. There was a likely a greater risk to the shelter and the rest of the neighborhood if she hadn't stepped in to assist with stopping the metahuman criminals -- that was something that she hoped that the others kept out of their reports.
She was initially reluctant to respond to the sound of the child in distress. Judging by the name that he had been calling, she assumed that he was looking for missing or non-responding pet. If she waited just a moment, Doll was share that the pet would coming running back upon hearing the owner's voice and all will be well in the world again. However, she also had her own personal issues when it came to animals. Ever since she was reduced to her current diminutive size, those same pets were now more likely to view her as potential prey. Fortunately, she had the means to protect herself from attack, but that made it difficult to deal with the pet owner afterwards.
Feeling sorry for the kid, Doll gave in and slowly approached the child. She was trying not to scare him but was also trying to remain alert in case the missing pet was approaching too and now had her in its sights.
