Local Tavern - OOC

Okay, the new cast is Claude Renard and the currently-named John Smith.

Please review the thread for Le Droit.  If you want to pick up where we left off and continue the investigation minus everyone else tell me.  If you want to start a fresh adventure, I can do that as well.

Hello all! I'll be working on my guy tonight and tomorrow. I'll most likely be coming up with a better name as well. Looking forward to joining you all.

Okay, there will be for the foreseeable future just you two.  What sort of game do you want to play?  Heavy themes of social justice?  Light-hearted game of fun swashbuckling?  Historically accurate or looser?  In the realm of looser we can dispense with which historical figure was alive when, have a little fun with characters from the books, etc.

As for actual adventures:

The Cardinal's Peril contains four adventures, each of increasing challenge.  The Haunted Villa starts the series, followed by The titular Cardinal's Peril, which segues into The Lady of La Rochelle.  The book rounds out with The Marksmanship Tourney, which requires a Master in Musket or Arquebus for at least one character.

Another option is High Seas which includes three interlinked adventures under the mini-campaign The Scavenger's Daughter.  It involves the characters forcibly joining a pirate crew and three adventures in the Caribbean. This is intended to introduce French born characters the the Caribbean and works better with mid-ranked characters.

Finally, the Ambassador's Tales is five interlinked adventures in Austria, Spain, Netherlands, Italy and England in the service of the Cardinal.  Tricky for beginning characters, but the adventures scale up, so the characters can as well.

As far as themes go, I'm open to anything, though I'd prefer a little bit looser as far as historical accuracy goes - like still mostly accurate, but definitely looser than something like "you need to go like this particular event up in a textbook or google or whatever". I'd be fine with any of the adventures.

I'm scared to offer my opinion on themes. I do like the idea of having some swashbuckling options available in virtually every situation. Sort of shades of Three Musketeers, you know?

I love Pirates, but my character right now would be terrible at it. I suggest we begin with Cardinals apparel.

What would you say as far as historical accuracy goes?

Okay, I will look at Cardinal's Peril and set up the game thread.  In the meantime, "John" can finish up his character and get a proper name.

I posted the basic equipment list from the book in the character creation thread.  It's not pretty but it's there.  With firearms the three prices separated by slashes are for matchlock/flintlock/wheel lock mechanisms.

Okay, you two will know each other through a fencing school or master.

John, do you have a final name yet?

Also, in the Description field put what he looks like and anything that people can tell about him right away, anything he is known for, and any rumors that may be well-known about him (true or false).

My guy is Lucien Royer (originally Astier, not sure right the right term would be since he took his husband's surname) and his husband is Claude Royer.

Claude is a fairly short, thin man. He has not been practicing fencing long, but has quick reflexes and good fundamentals.

Claude Renard is from the South of France. He is short and thin. He has dirty blond hair which he keeps quite short. He has only the slightest bit of facial hair, and is a bit sensitive about it. Claude wears simple but well-made clothing, and wears his rapier on his belt.

Claude works for a barrister as a clerk.
