Arislyn did leave, though not for any particularly bad reason. Simply didn't feel that the direction of the game was suiting what she was looking for.

While I can't possibly imagine how someone could already know that I gave up even trying to track the reasons people drop games around here, just be glad when they let you know.

It's a, er, feature of online groups in general...people ghost way too often. Heck, I have seen GMs ghost their own games far too many times to count.

It happens.   I have been guilty of it once when things irl got busy and I just dropped. Most of the time though the game dies on me lol.

I try to at least let people know if I'm going to be away. If you need to get a hold of me and I forget to check in, tell Samson to bug me. He's amazing at it. LOL

Don't lie, you don't listen to anyone.

Die off is a sad fact of posting forums.  Though I've been on discord doing some PbP for a year and found it's not a bad platform either.

How do you even find pbP rp on discord?

Pure luck to be honest.  A friend introduced me to discord and a few rpg channels. Mostly people are looking to do voice games (like 95%)- but every once and a while someone posts for a pbp.

Found a group and am running through a Hell's Vengeance game atm.  First time I ever got through a complete book on pbp!

Prim: All dice rollers are trying to kill us.  I've been so dice whipped it should count as a fetish!

I have played many text based games on Discord, granted most of them transitioned there after playin in person became impossible, and most have at least a voice component.  But I wouldn't call any of that PbP.  Discord is more chat RPG than PbP RPG.

I will be using the notation //...// for most of Aen's communications, just to denote that it isn't actual speech (he does not have vocal chords, so his mode of talking to others is a bit odd, as you can see).

Is it audible sound, or a sort of telepathy?

Um, uh, hmm...
Telepathy would be the simplest, closest answer, but it's not quite that, because telepathy is direct mind-to-mind contact. Aen is literally exuding thoughts into the space around him to be picked up by other people, sort of like how bacteria put out DNA for other bacteria to pick up. Except when you pick it up, what happens is you understand what he's trying to tell you. He does have a distinctive voice, as though it were telepathy, but it's a bit weirder than that.

Sounds like, at least for the purposes of lore and game mechanics, that's he essentially shouting thoughts and intent into the world around him(talking) and everyone withing "earshot" can "hear" him. For all intents and purposes still regular speech, just... not using sound waves.

Thatís one way to put it, lol

With Aen my goal was to create a character that was both incredibly cool and at the same time distinctively and decisively odd. As such he has a lot of aspects that resemble what should be and yet differ in either subtle or not-so-subtle ways.

Classic, is there a reason this game died?  Or needs to stay dead?

L'sigh.  I guess that's evidence of letting the perfect be enemy of the good.  I mean, Maggie's not the only other person in the room and it seemed much more open for someone else to speak up.

Although if steampunk is your thing, may I offer for consideration: Quintessence: The Hotaether Element

I was willing to yell back and forth with you!

I'll check out the other game. Mostly I try to avoid any free forms and go to things with sheets.
