Re: The OOC bar

My understanding is that the spirit is bound to this 'location' by the stones, but how narrow the boundaries of the location are is unclear.

Re: The OOC bar

I share Gorrid's view, if it was confined within the stone circle it wouldn't be much of a protector.

Hopefully we can get the captive a safe distance away or we won't be gaining much insight from the attack.

Idi is going to be looking for "something of value" he can offer up as a sacrifice in exchange for guidance from Thovis. He'll go searching, but if anyone has good ideas I'm open to them :)

Re: The OOC bar

I'll preface by saying I know absolutely nothing about the rituals and deities of the setting;

A spider; a creature of many eyes that we may have sight into our endeavors

A hawk, that we may share it's prolific abilities in our hunt for the necromancer (could be eaten too, I dunno if that's a plus)

A fish, if you anticipate running into any more water mages (also, a potentially delicious meal)

I may have the perfect thing, actually. We have some Necromancy Notes taken directly from the tower of the necromancer we seek (although I believe his apprentice wrote the notes). The notes would contain secret knowledge that your deity might either appreciate having, or appreciate having destroyed.

Re: The OOC bar

I'm hanging out with the family and away from the action just because it makes sense for someone to be on guard there.  Plus Sir Gorrid was a bit freaked out about almost killing the mage.  (He's totally fine with killing the mage, he just wants it to be of his own volition.)

No concerns with anything happening, just explaining why I'm being 'quiet'.

I don't think anyone's asked yet if the mage is aware of any other assassin (not that he'd necessarily be aware if there were any).

In reply to Sir Gorrid of Torr (msg # 950):

I've been wondering if we'll need Gorrid to, ahhh, "execute justice" if we can't figure out something for the mage. But you're right, there are more questions we can ask him, I'm just playing Idi as wanting some godly reassurance right now.

Ya know, the differences between Divine Guidance (cleric base move), Orison for Guidance (cleric advanced move), and Guidance (cleric rote spell) are... I mean they're there, there are differences, but they're subtle. A lot of guidance!

In reply to Sir Gorrid of Torr (msg # 950):

Speaking of hanging out On Guard, raises hand, that would be me.
Luckily, I have not seen any other suspicious person|s approach the tower.
In fact, not even townsfolk.

As for, "Killed while trying to escape", that's in my wheelhouse too, if _needed_.

FYI, I plan to wait and see what Idi wants to do with the info he just gained before I post again.

Also, I am crossing those necromancy notes off of my inventory.

Thanks Spriggy!

Did the mage take Idi up on the prayer offer? Just curious! That Charm spell is up, and who knows maybe I'll make a convert :)

Re: The OOC bar

Would knocking over a stone break the magical effect or does some sort of magic need to be used?
If just knocking over, we can dig out the bottom of one of them and pull it.

Re: The OOC bar

Can anyone Spout Lore on how to release a bound spirit - or de-power a magical site?

If we had a full wizard with us, we could do the Magic Ritual thing, but unfortunately Spriggy's not a full wizard.

I'm not sure druid magic quite answers that call, this situation seems pretty unnatural.

I will attempt that check.

Sorry I have been a little absent lately guys. I have been a bit distracted in real life, but I should have a bit more attention to spare now.

Re: The OOC bar

Just a thought, but do ghosts count as undead? I would lean towards "no" I think, since they don't have a body--more like they're just dead I guess. But they do manifest in the world, so just wondering.

Re: The OOC bar

They do. In a way, the 'undead' part is more about the necromantic forces animating a body (or maintaining a spirit in place) than anything else. To give an example from Egyptian mythology, an undead would be any being who lost their 'Ka' (vital essence), but still maintained their Sekhem (power or form).

Gorrid, are you letting Spriggy know any of what is going on via the telepathic link he established? I wasn't sure how much I should assume or not. (He's been back at the mill hastily studying his books.)

I'm assuming that you can hear what I'm speaking aloud - definitely letting you know what I'm seeing - and you can probably sense some of my anxiety/anger too.

BTW - we're getting close to the max posts for the thread, so probably time to spawn a new OOC?
