Raiders of the Black Ice

After spending a day of drifting down the Moonstone Stream, you traveled down the road until you reached Standing Stone Keep. "This is it, the limit of the Province of the White Sword, and the main line of defense against barbarian raiders."

The keep looks old. Older then any of the buildings in the rest of the province. An ancient guardian, who stood against untold foes and is ready to do so again. And to both sides, heading toward the mountain chain to the east, and the ocean to the west, you see a long line of tall monolith silently standing guard. "Those are the Lightning Stone," Charlotte explains. "They date back to the Califate of Nuat, and were built in case the dwarves ever made it this far north. Now, we're using the veil of lightning they can create to stop armies from passing through this plain."

As you pass near the keep, Drake waves at the guards on the wall, who return the gesture.

The redhead nodded as she regarded the ancient monoliths stretching into the distance.  She tried to recall any stories or legends she had heard of these structures, if only to hear from others if they might be true or false.

12:33, Today: Kharla rolled 5 using 2d6 ((2,3)).
- ah she is not the most well-read or worldly but +XP unless not really relevant to the story

Racking her memory she finds either little or absurd tidbits.

Spriggy looked on in wonder as they reached their destination. He had heard of the Lightning Stones before, but had never seen them in person. It seemed Charlotte was quite knowledgeable about them. He felt slightly vulnerable as they prepared to go past the Lightning Stones though. Although perhaps not as much as he normally would, since he had heard of a way to circumvent their magic if they got trapped on the wrong side. He decided not to share it though, just in case someone decided they wanted to close the loophole if they heard about it.

Pulling his new pony Lydia behind him, Spriggy asked Drake, "How far of a journey is it from here? Do we need to stock up on anything before we go further?"

Those Lightning Stone monoliths seem like important items that would fall under my Bardic Lore, so here is a question about them: "What is a way for a small group to circumvent/nullify/trick the wall so that they can pass through while it is active?"

From what Spriggy remembers, the wall is an active effect, triggered by a focal item hidden in the keep. The guards only activate it if they see a large group trying to pass, as there's a limited reserve of energy to power the stones.

"It should take us a day and a half, assuming we don't get delayed for some reason."

I'm assuming Drake takes care of the Trailblazing, that leaves someone to roll for Quartermaster and for Scouting.

Since Spriggy has an entire pony cart full of food, I will volunteer to be Quartermaster for the journey.

22:37, Today: Spriggy Glompgut rolled 4 using 2d6+1 with rolls of 2,1.  Quartermaster roll.
Aaaaand that's an XP...
