Hey all.

Been playing Stars Without Number for about seven months now. Not an expert, and haven't gotten past level 2, so I'm toying with different concepts to figure out what works and what doesn't. I have a lot To Do list of character builds I want to try, so I'm debating between those at the moment.

So far I'm the lonely GM. Putting together a first adventure now. I hope to have some kind of pitch today to see if you all like the sound of it.

At least you aren't lonely for players!  :)

Do folks prefer to give previews of characters here (which may help undecided folks make choices toward covering potential holes in party capabilities), or do folks prefer to unveil any and all such information IC?

So, I have two possible adventures to start things off. Feel free to go with one or the other - I'm willing to run small groups for both if necessary.

1. The Last Will of Hyrum Wallace
Hyrum Wallace, gentleman adventurer, has passed. His last will and testament is to be released at midnight three days after his passing straight to the comnet. According to Hyrum, his will would lead the "right adventurer" on the thrill of a lifetime with a payoff that would settle them for life. Teams of adventurers and explorers are gathering to see the will and begin their journey.

2. Tau Ceti Five
The Honorable Fraternity of Tau Ceti Five has put out a small advert for a group of open-minded people to come to their planet and solve a minor issue with the local wildlife. Tau Ceti Five is one of the planets local to sector XK-664 that has been contacted but never explored.

That last will sounds too good to pass up...

Both of those sounds interesting Mr Referee but I think I myself would like to run in #1. The Last Will of Hyrum Wallace.

I would do either, but given the choice I'd do #2.

I'll start with #1 also, so I can upgrade my Telepathy before doing #2.  :)

Does this mean that we need to put our heads together to ensure that we have four players for each group?

BTW, is Tau Ceti Five inhabited but unexplored by outsiders, or is it uninhabited?

I'll round out the Last Will group, then.

If one group is five and the other three I don't know that it would be a problem. Two groups of four would just be a little better, I think.

And Tau Ceti Five is inhabited, but unexplored by the newcomers to the sector (so the player characters and other adventurers).

Referee and I will hash out some logical teams.

Remember that this is a sandbox, so if you don't like the sound of things you can always go off on your own adventure. When life gives you lemons... just say f-that and bail.

If you need folks for the Tau Ceti Five group, I can give up my slot in the Will group.

Tian You may or may not take up their advertised offer of employment, but he could still help folks and earn credits by offering his healing services to the local hospitals, and assess the physical and spiritual needs of the folks there.  The employment offer gives him a logical reason to go and explore the situation there.  :)

Let's give everyone who needs it 48 hours to get their sheets finalized. We'll kick things off for everyone who is ready after that, maybe on Thursday.

Two adventures for players looking to jump in:

Keeping Up With the Jeffersons
The main New Ceres crime family, known to most simply as "The Jeffersons", have put out a contract for mercenary work. The contract requires finding and killing Lenny "The Sparrow" Bloom. Known for selling out anyone and everyone, the Jeffersons want Lenny dead. It's notable that the family would hire out the job instead of keeping it inside their normal circles.


Special Delivery
A bulletin is posted for hands to bring a ship full of cargo to its destination. A simple job, but the complication is that the destination is the Vada Academy and the cargo are a dozen psionic-capable kids between the ages of 6 and 16. What could go wrong?

Feel free to throw your name into one or the other. We'll try and get relatively even group sizes if we can.

Barak is up for the Jeffersons contract. Teleporting Gunslinger here.

Screw can be used to balance or fill an adventure group.

BK-49 is interested in the Special Delivery contract.

VI mechanic/hacker. Can pilot a bit.
