So, serendipitously, a few hours before Curtis contacted me about DND I was talking about running a campaign with some of my other friends. Are you interested in adding a couple comrades?

Mike, you're the official first one in, so I think you get to call your hero... burly fighter, nimble rogue, stalwart healer, mystic wizard, etc, etc. Have you got a favorite fantasy hero tyoe?

There is a rogue and then there is a fixer tinker. Depends on what you want to do...

I want to be the fix it tinker, MacGyver of the demon realm

Mike, how about we team up? You be the tinker... maybe a gnome or an elf, and probably a wizard or a rogue depending on how you imagine it. If you go wizard (artificer), you can be all about magical devices, clockwork objects, maybe eventually weapons and armor. If you go for a thief, you'll be picking locks, disarming traps, etc.

I'll make a dwarven priest of the forge god, and I'll bang out all the big stuff and beat people with hammers, plus cover the healing. Maybe we tool around together fixing what's broken, or maybe we're trying to combine our arts to craft magic items eventually.

It's the classic big guy little guy combo... Han and Chewie, Inigo Montoya and Fezzik, Rocket and Groot, etc. What do you think?

I like the teaming up idea Nate! Tinkering elf sounds good, a MacGiver type. We could build tools, weapons and machines.

Cool, let's slow our roll in case someone else has their heart set on something specific... otherwise I'll read up on those builds.

Mike you can be a gnome and they get the tinker racial bonus and then maybe an artcifer who uses magic to creat things...

Artificer sounds right up your alley... you cast spells like a wizard, but there's no spell books or hocus pocus... to an observer, you're building and using little widgets with spell-like effects.

Battle smith artificer, weapons and construction. I’m in, how do I create the character and what resources do I need.

Go to d&d beyond and login to use the character builder. I use 4d6 drop the lowest die to roll stats... It is a simple and explanatory character builder...

Are Wade and Darrell here too?

I, here now, and if I had my choice I’d be a wizard, magic using type.

OKay I think Erich has been added. I think Mike had claimed a wizard and Nate claimed a Priest but I am not objecting to anybodies choice of class. We are expecting one more. D&D beyond has a great character builder and I will need a PDF and have you all choose an appropriate avatar picture.

I dont want to box anyone out of the cleric of their hopes and dreams. The one I'm imagining can double as a frontline fighter, but I'm happy to yield that role or the healer role to someone else. If Wade wants to play a wizard, I think the party can sustain two arcane casters as long as we address all the battlefield roles.

Glad to see this group coming together!

Okay so we have silvery stone a rock gnome warlock. Sounds like we are going to have a lot of magic users. Which is fine by me but we will need a fighter I think. We have some one who is willing to be a priest.

I can change and be a paladin for defense.

Okay so it sounds like we have two magic users a Paladin and a Priest. does anybody else want to be anything specific?

I don't mind taking on a fighter role. I noticed it looked magic heavy when Mike filled us in.

A Aarakocra fighter might be fun.

Sounds workable... my cleric will be pretty tanky and work up close. Maybe the artificer can cover some of the rogue portfolio with utility type spells. If one caster and/or fighter can cover the ranged damage output, we should be okay in most situations. We just wont be very sneaky... more of a kick in the door type of party.

I am also open to all suggestions. :)

I think I will be a Dragonborn Wizard if that is acceptable by all...looking forward to it!

Nate: dwarven cleric, melee, healer
Mike: gnome artificer, utility caster
Wade: dragonborn wizard, blaster/control?
Erich: aarakokra ranger, ranged, stealth?
SilveryStone: dragonborn paladin, melee, charisma
Darrell: ________ warrior?

If that's it I think weve got the bases covered. We might be a little squishy up front and lacking a true rogue, but we should be able to navigate most challenges.

I'll try to get mine done this weekend... I'm actually heading to the West Coast, so travel and other obligations may hold me up, but I should be able to make it happen.

Erich is now Qrurr and has his character sheet uploaded and can be viewed in character details...

Not sure how this format works. Forgive me for dumb questions but the last time I played D&D was 30 years ago in Jr. High.

Here's the play I would like to make:

I rolled a 10 on the 1d20 with a +3 dexterity modifier. The intention is to land, navigate safely, confront the Captain face to face, and tell him, "As I said, landborn, I am at your service. What are your orders?"

I dont think there's any risk of dumb questions... what you've got is basically right on. In games Curtis and I have played in or run on RPoL, you'd just post exactly as you did, then add a section at the bottom titled OoC (for out of character) with any crunchy game mechanics, if/then conditions, or things you'd ask or tell the DM as an aside.

Based on your post, you could offer a Dex roll as you did to land safely in a crowd, an Intimidate check to bully commoners, or an attack/damage roll if you actually want to hurt someone, which will probably lead to initative and melee. You can also just describe what you intend and Curt will ask for your rolls.

Can we introduce new players? I have a friend that would love to play and is really enthusiastic about the lack of time constraints that a traditional campaign takes as he's at home with a very rambunctious toddler.

If a few players dropped. Yes but we are already past my normal max of 5. However if I start any more games I would be happy to take other players. Also I might have space in one of my other games as one of the characters may have dropped out. Have him email me and I will see if I can squeeze him in somewhere...

Just an FYI, I will be working on a job until about the 19th. Long days and patchy reception so feel free to use Qrurr as a NPC if I'm holding anything up.
