Re: The Basilisk Gate

Having heard no sounds of distraught or battle, Qrurr waits until there is no one to witness him take to the air. Flapping straight up, he gains enough altitude to remain undetectable by more landborn eyes. His eyes dart about the nearby harbor.

Re: The Basilisk Gate

As they meet up outside the party notices that the birdman is no longer there.

Qrrur you make the flight to the harbor. There moored at the end of the last dock is the uncivil serpent. A sailing ship that has seen better days but still in working order. Flying over Qrrur notices that several men bustle about on the deck and down on the dock several armed elves guard the gangway.

OOC: Who took the writ for the boat?

"So, we'll have more piratea to deal with, maybe a first mate or some such leading them. Should we do anything before we march up the gangway and announce our ownership? Visit the harbormaster or anything?"

[OoC]: Vigg does not have the writ... I think Kriv took it.

Define Writ... Because I have the Papers for the boat.

"Yeah, I got the papers for the Uncivil Serpent. That's going be the closed thing to something 'Uncivil' about me. Should we expect some trouble?"

"I imagine we could handle what's left of the crew, but we'll be fighting on their home turf... and heavily armored dwarves and boats don't mix well. I hope we can skip the violence and see about enforcing our ownership. Maybe just announce ourselves and demand a meeting with the first mate? Or we could go see the harbormaster to gather a little information, and maybe find a buyer if we don't intend to get into the piracy business."

"Well I could go. And if they threaten violence, I'll start a fire on the boat and no one can have it. Wait, is there a law against that. I cannot remember."

Re: The Basilisk Gate

Kriv makes his way to the harbor. On his way he sees A leathery gnome merchant has stopped to chat with a pair of human masons, and possibly make a sale. A sheaf of dried tobacco leaves protrudes from the gnome's backpack, and he hunches low under the weight. Leather pouches filled with sweet-smelling dried tobaccos and teas hang from the gnome's every button hole and from his braided rope belt.

He is then greeted by the sight of ships and docks. Kriv asks around and finds that the Uncivil Servant is moored on the East end of the harbor. He does notice that people give him a wide berth at the mention of the name though but still point in the general direction.

OOC: Anyone else headed that way...

Re: The Basilisk Gate

Vigg puffs along behind the dragon, trying to maintain a surly swagger while keeping up as best he can. As they stop to ask for directions, he chooses the oldest and saltiest sailor and asks, "How many to crew the Uncivil Serpent, or any ship her size?"

[OoC]: How many pirates did we face at the Elfsong?

At the mention of the uncivil serpent the man turns a bit green. "A ship her size 20 i would say." He then hurries away.

OOC: you face about ten in the bar.

Re: The Basilisk Gate

You head to the Eastern portion of the Harbor. The overwhelming smell of the sea assaults your nostrils. Fish, Ocean and unwashed bodies of passerby's all tickle the nose. One of the Dragon born begins to dry heave and when all turn to see who they all point to one another and no one admits to almost loosing their lunch. AS you start to walk the Eastern Dock a Tan Elf wearing a wide brim hat appears from behind some crates. He is eating an orange with dagger and looks at you. In broken common he says, "And where might you lads be headed?"

"The big lad there has the writ of ownership... maybe you tell us your name and your connection to this fine sailing craft, and we'll decide if you're important enough to show it to."

[OoC]: Any reason we're holding back? This guy is obviously the gatekeeper, but he's probably a flunky. Vigg keeps an eye out for others on the dock.
