Aftermath

Why am I reminded of the six phases of a major project:

1. Enthusiasm,
2. Disillusionment,
3. Panic, hysteria and overtime,
4. Hunt for the guilty,
5. Punishment of the innocent, and
6. Reward for the uninvolved.

Anyway, I think we are done with the Punishment of the innocent so…

Mica wanders casually into the camp the next morning and asks why everyone is hanging around Voriof’s Sheep Pen out in the cold? There’s a certain amount of joy at the reunion combined with annoyance at the fact she did just run off and is none the worse for her adventures such as they are. I’ll leave you all to share the details.

On boring game mechanics, anyone can spend an HP to cement:

  • Find way through Hare Woods 13 (not the most useful skill I’ll grant);
  • Any skill they’ve used +1;
  • Mica then Ulf and then anyone else can cement Angara as an Ally 13. If nobody does he’ll head back to his stead to settle back once again into a slough of despond;
  • Helga can now access more natural charms so if anyone wants to buy one she can supply;
  • Ulf and Mica can improve their relationship +1 with Helga if they want;
  • Mica can bind spirits from the Hare Woods directly but it works pretty much the same as Helga doing it.

Any unused HP will carry forwards (and for those who’ve forgotten you all started with 3HP and I think only Ulf used one to bump a roll).

Generally I suspect backbiting is trumped by the fact that somehow the raid was more or less a success and one has been put thoroughly over the Greydogs. Red quickly recovers from his strange mood earlier and is now the life and soul of the party bigging up anyone who will listen to him and failing that bigging up himself. Angara will just be quiet. If anyone has some mighty bragging to do, now is the time…

Chief Gordangar is actually very impressed and does a bad job of hiding the failure of his low expectations of his youngest son. Harmast’s achievements will of course be completely belittled by his brothers (“Sheep, is that all you could find little fellow?”). Nevertheless the chief is busy revising his opinion of both his son and the odd types he hangs out with.

OK, comment here if you want to buy/add something to your character or if you have any questions.

So Mica,  where were you, what did you see and why didnt you come and find us. And please dont run off on your own again like that.

And do we have 1 HP each? Hit points? Can I tweek my combat skills, given we scared the Greydogs off?  And having got away from the Hare  is there an appropriate skill to build from that (Run Away +1 maybe?)

HP = Hero Points

You each started the scenario with three, they can be used, essentially, for two purposes:

1 like experience points to improve your character (2HP will get you an increase of 1 point in a keyword) 1HP will increase anything else or buy a new ability at 13.
2 during game play to bump a resolution by one success level (fumble->fail->success->critical) [sadly only one can be spent at a time.

In reply to Harmast Gordangarson (msg # 2):

I was dancing in the woods with a Hare.
There's a powerful Spirit there - don't go into the woods alone.
I see you got your sheep.  Well done.

With that, Mica goes off to pick mushrooms, which she makes into a pie for Angara.

If possible, Mica will spend an HP cementing her relationship with Angara
And another HP making sure she can always find a way out of the Hare Woods (just in case).

Ally Angara Danovan cemented - he's pretty much as powerful as a normal PC but will expect reciprocal favours. In his case a bit of companionship.

I realised I was being mean and cemented a "Knows way through Hare Woods" ability as a breakout from your wilderness survival for free.
