Rules

1. Posting rate is at least every few days, as often as daily. If you go a week or more without posting or letting me know ahead of time you may be dropped from the game.
2. Don't post more often than the other players can keep up with. Generally speaking, don't post more than once every 24 hours unless everyone else in your thread has had the chance to respond.
3. Stay friendly OOC. You can hate each other IC, but OOC be civil.
4. This is a Mature game, not an Adult game. Fade to black as appropriate.
5. Traits that depend on "play time" or "per session" activation will have the Game Time enhancement:

quote:
If it usually works at least once per real hour, you get uses per game day equal to its maximum possible uses per real hour; e.g., Ridiculous Luck, which works every 10 real minutes, gets six uses per game day. If it’s rated in uses per session, you get that many uses per game week; e.g., Serendipity 3 gives three uses per game week.

House Rules

1. Gear prices and armor weights from Low Tech and High Tech override anything in the Basic Set. Ultra Tech can be screwy but we'll figure that out as we go.

2. Committed Attacks and Defensive Attacks from GURPS Martial Arts are allowed.

3. Extra Effort in Combat is allowed.

4. Shin Kicks, Reverse Grips, Telegraphic Attacks, and Cross Parries are allowed.

Combat tip for unskilled characters: You'll have a default of ~6 with most guns, ~5-6 with most melee weapons. That means you'll miss an unmoving target 70-80% of the time. Even a punch at DX only has a 50% hit rate.

This makes sense, considering that normal attacks allow you to defend - in essence, you're concentrating on offense and defense at the same time, something that's difficult for unskilled fighters.

Your best bet is to decide each round if you want to hit something, or avoid being hit. If you want to hit something, make an All Out Attack (determined), possibly Telegraphed. If you want to avoid getting hit, either run away or make an All Out Defense.

This is not only your best tactical choice, but realistic when it comes to how untrained people fight. And poorly trained people who try to rely on skills they've never really had to use often get their asses kicked, too.
